These boots look really good in the picture but it's quite a different story once received. I usually have no issues with ordering a size 9 in any shoe nor do I ever have issues with a shoe feeling too narrow but I guess there's a first time for everything. As another reviewer said, the back heel area is built in such a way that it's really difficult to actually put your foot inside the shoe and I only succeeded once I took my sock off. Both the outside and inside of the boot is really hard and even without trying to walk in them, the front, top edge was already cutting into my leg. The area across my toes was extremely tight. After taking off the boot, I bent it with my hands to see how flexible the sole was and the leather at the top immediately creased and changed color (as a note, I ordered the boot in brown). For the price, I would expect more quality. This boot feels cheap and is not durable. I couldn't send it back fast enough.

All the people complaining have wide feet. I have rather narrow feet and it's always impossible for me to find a boot that fits my foot without being far too wide, with an ankle shaft that doesn't look like I'm walking in a bucket. This boot is absolutely PERFECT for me. They are a little stiff when you first put them on, but after a week of walking, the leather is starting to soften. The traction is wonderful, and they do fine in the rain. This boot is perfect for people with narrow feet. I had no trouble at all putting them on. The zipper is perfectly functional. Keeping forever!

This is a dream ankle boot for people with narrow feet and ankles. I was a bit worried about all the negative reviews, but it's obvious once trying on this shoe that they are from people with wide feet. I've had a really difficult time finding an ankle boot that fits my narrow feet and ankles, one that doesn't look like I've stuck my leg in a huge rain boot. I've had to return several pairs of other boots already because the ankle shafts are unflatteringly wide, as if I've stepped into a bucket. This boot, on the other hand, is PERFECT. I am usually a 7.5 and the 7.5 fits perfectly. I had no trouble at all putting them on. This is the perfect boot for people with narrow feet and narrow ankles. Seriously, the only other ankle boots I could find with narrow ankle shafts were upwards of $450 dollars. This boot is lovely and perfectly proportioned for my feet!

These shoes are extremely comfortable, and look cute with jeans, skirts, and even dress slacks. I am a teacher and need to be on my feet for long hours. While these don't seem as durable, or comfortable over long periods of time like Timbs used to be, they have gotten me faithfully through many days. Fit tts, and I ordered 9W.

I usually have a heck of a time finding ankle boots. I have a narrow, low-volume foot and a very narrow ankle, and most boots feel like I'm walking around with buckets on my feet. I've tried on at least two dozen pairs. These are PERFECT! I guess I love these boots for the same reason that many reviewers dislike them lol. I don't have a problem getting them on and off, and my heel doesn't slip in them! I have a slightly wider front area of my foot, and it only took a day for the boot to break in and be comfortable around my toes. The grip is great - I made it across the iced-over path in front of my office without sliding. The soles are very comfortable, and the boots look good with both boot-cut and skinny pants. The slight bump in the front of the insole took some getting used to but it actually does a good job of keeping my foot in place inside the shoe. I bought my usual size, an 8, and it fits well with trouser socks.

I have these boots in black and they are just what I was looking for. Fit my narrow, siz-10 feet perfectly, look great, and feel comfortable after a day of walking in the city. I may get another pair in brown. I'm glad I didn't see the negative reviews until I'd already purchased them!

These are beautiful boots! I ordered wide width, and unfortunately I couldn't even get my foot into the boot.

Could not even get this on my foot. The location of the zipper prevents the boot from opening up wide enough to get the top of the foot and the ankle in.

I am greatly in need of comfort and on first try they were, however, as the day went on my foot started to hurt. When I took them off I realized that under the foot bed the screws that attach the heel to the shoe were pushing through into my foot. Zappos was wonderful (as always) and with ease shipped me a new pair. Unfortunately, the same thing happened. Who wants to wear a pair of shoes were the screws push into the bottom of your foot. Not me!

I am returning these boots. As for what I'm thinking, here goes.... Does anyone at Timberland pay attention to these reviews? I'm also thinking: The Zappos model must have been wearing a boot 2-sizes larger than she normally wears. Let's see a video clip of the model attempting to put on one of these boots. That would have spared me the "order-n-return." I'm also thinking that maybe the design was computer generated and robot tested. The leather (if that's what it is) is too stiff (like was it bonded to a brittle plastic) making the fit way too tight. Humans tend to notice that sort of discomfort. Also, the zipper entry does not work -- by that I mean, it's impossible to shove your foot into the cuff/short shaft of the boot. As for the pull strap on the back of the boot, there's not enough strap there -- if you can call it that -- to pull or tug.

Very bad style. So rigid on top, and such an unhelpful zipper (location/length) that my foot couldn't even go in. Returning.

I had the same problem as other reviewers. This is a super-cute boot but I don't know what kind of foot it would fit. I have a high arch and a slightly wide foot and I was nowhere close to getting my foot in this boot.

I had high hopes for this beautiful boot. I wear a size 8 1/2 ALWAYS. I cannot tell you how comfortable or how well it fit because I could not get the things on! The opening, even with the zipper down was impossible to get on my foot. Sent them back. Would have loved to keep them. I had to fill out the Size, Width and Support options just so I could submit this survey. I really couldn't tell you how they fit or how they felt, etc. But I couldn't send this survey without the options filled in. B Nelson Charlottesville, Va

Comical trying to put it on! I spent a full five minutes trying to find a way to get this boot on. The back tab is too small to use to pull the boot on, and if I tried to slip my foot in, the leather kept caving in on one side , making it impossible to get my foot in. Truly frustrating. They are going back.

Timberland is great boot maker. I have a pair of hiking boots by this maker, and they have lasted 17 years so far. The quality of this leather boot is excellent , the sole and sturdiness of this boot seems very good (after wearing it around the house w/ Thorlos socks for 3 hours). I worked my foot into each boot without much effort. I am between sizes of 7.5 M and 8M. ( I do not have a high arch). I ordered the 8M since I knew I would be wearing Thorlos walking socks while wearing them on my job. The styling is perfect for wearing for a long period of time, no stitching over the toes, arch, and the shoe provides lots of support. The shaft height is excellent as well as the sole which looks like it will help me maintain balance and not slip on a wet surface. I am not worried about this boot not being waterproof since I live in Southern CA. where we have very few wet rainy days. I work at the Del Mar, CA. thoroughbred live horse racing/and other events and I predict that the height of the shaft will keep the turf out of my boots. Leather boots need to warm up to your body temperature to know how they actually fit. I will keep this pair of Timberlands. Zappos suggested them for me, and frankly I forgot about this brand. Thank you Zappos.

I love these boots. They are comfortable, and I have worn them while teaching in the classroom for long hours. They have held up for over a year of weekly use, so I figured I should finally write a review about how great these are.

The only con is the entry and exit but after wearing a couple of times it is not as much as an issue. They are great and go with everything! Love them!
