When I first tried them on they felt a tiny bit snug but not so much that I wouldn't wear them. They seem like the sort of shoes that will stretch a bit. For the first week I wore them they were awesomely comfortable. Right off the bat I took my dog for a three mile walk and the shoes (and my feet) felt great. I wore them every day to work and loved them. Then I wore them to a concert and found that, after standing in them for a couple of hours, they were not so awesome. My feet hurt pretty bad. Never actually had a pair of shoes that are good to walk in but not good to stand in. A few days later I wore them with thick hiking socks and got one of the worst blisters I've ever had, since they are still too snug to wear with wool socks. If I hadn't been wearing them for two weeks I'd exchange them for a half size larger because I love the way they look, and when they are comfortable they are really great shoes.
