I stated my trail running with the first pair from The Northa face. It has truly done me wonders, especially when I go over 30 km mark. I don't feel rubbing on my toes or stress on my heels. It is very well made for off-road experience.

I use these for work and when I'm going out and about in the snow, these are fantastic to use on snowy grounds. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for a stylish pair of waterproof shoes.

It took me a while to find running shoes with a low heel-toe drop that felt good on my feet. I don't like the feeling or running or walking on heels, even if it's only a centimeter's worth of difference. These just feel really natural to me when running and that's their best feature.
I like that these come with a waterproof liner, though that doesn't make them waterproof. They aren't boots, after all. My experience has been that they will keep your feet dry while walking/running on wet grass or the occasional step in a puddle, but that they will saturate with constant exposure or submersion for more than a couple seconds.
The inner sole (ortholite?) is very comfortable. I have low arches and they fit nicely.
The outer sole is extremely grippy. The first week or so walking around carpet or indoors they actually make a sticking/squeaking sound. They've held up great for several months of trail running and occasionally just walking around on pavement. I would expect them to wear much faster if you use these everyday on asphalt/concrete.
The laces are rather short and do come untied as another person mentioned.
The outer material does seem like it'll come unglued after a year's worth of use. It's starting to come undone, though not to the degree mentioned in other reviews. As a trail running shoe, I'm not worried about a little peeling. But if you're someone who's proud of their shoes and want them to look nice, these do show wear quickly for the price.

I bought these sneakers to replace my pair of Salomon XA Pros that had way to many miles on them. My primary use would be for hiking and outdoor activities, not specifically for trail running. My initial thoughts on the shoe was they were a tad tight in the toe box and i thought about returning them. Man, i am glad i did not! After a few wears, they felt very comfortable. So much i started just wearing them day to day to the office, daycare, etc. Now, i just got back from a 3 day backpacking trip at the Grand Canyon. Went Rim to the river and back. These shoes were fantastic for this trip. The cushioning was supportive over rocks (even with 40+ lb backpack on), my feet did not get too hot so breath-ability was good, and traction is the bomb! The Vibram sole is incredibility sticky on rocks and gave me super confident traction. One section of our trail was to hike down a small river bed following a small creek. My wife had a fairly new set of Salomon X Ultra II's on and once here soles got wet and she tried to rock scramble, she had no traction. I on the other hand was like spider-man! Vibram megagrip is the best! Cant recommend enough. Hope you enjoy these shoes as much as me.....and my wife after i return her Salomons to get these as well. PS....i have had these shoes now over 7-8 months and have put a tons of miles on them and they are holding together well. I do see some of the lugs starting to wear down slightly, but i would expect that after the use i have put them through. Enjoy.

I work docking ships for a living in all sorts of weather so I am on my feet and demand something that keeps me dry and is super comfortable. These fit the bill perfectly. Unbelievably comfortable straight out of the box and are well made.

These are, hands down, the best pair of sneakers I have ever owned. So far, there is nothing I don't like about them. They are a little on the pricey side, but compared to big brand name sneakers, they are worth every penny. The build quality is outstanding, they are outrageously comfortable, and to top it all off, they're waterproof and breathable! I wear these every day and absolutely love them. I've never been this attached to a pair of shoes before...
The only thing that remains to be seen is how durable they are in the long run. They feel incredibly solid and well made, but we'll have to see if they stand the test of time.

These are second shoes from TNF...
The previous shoes were " MEN'S LITEWAVE EXPLORE WATERPROOF " which I returned as they had water leakage after 8 months of light use.
My Use: These shoes have been best in terms of trail running/casual wear running shoes. have already been rates as the best worth for money trail running shoes by expert for 2016.
My feel: Initially shoes were not so great initially as the heel cup was too tight for me while walking. After 2 weeks of regular shoes the shoe was comfortable. Now i use them for road running and trail running. they are my first choice when i want a waterproof light weight shoes or for the color as well.
My vote :The best part is the Vibram sole, though i have many other shoes from different brands having vibram , but these one are exceptionally sticky and amazing grip.
My commnets on waterproofing: Waterproofing is good and I have tested them in rain and snow, they have been waterproof and breathable. Particularly in snow they stand really good.
Shoes Design: The shoe tongue is moulded diagonally which stops the movement of the shoes tongue while walking or running after couple of minutes of wearing, this feature gives a snug perfect fit.
Inner Material: The inner material of shoes are super soft, smoth and comfortable.
Cons: Shoe laces - I doubt that ever TNF team gave any tjoughts on the quality of shoe laces they give, they often lose down after couple of hours unlike other brand in market. I have to tie my laces after every 2-3 hours.
Overall: if u need a ligh-weight running shoes which is water proof , i think this best what TNF can offer right now. it has perfect cushioning, design and protection one needs.

First and foremost, these are well designed trail running shoes. The toe box has a thick rubber to protect the shoe from rocks but it remains pliable. The Gore-Tex liner does its part to keep your feet dry and the Vibram sole provides both cushion and grip. However, there are some short-comings. The DWR coating is non-resistant and the Gore-Tex sets out almost immediately when the shoes get wet. In addition, your feet are going to get soaked the rain because water will enter around the top of the tongue and where your foot goes into the shoe. The Gore-Tex, in my opinion, is really only protection from wet grass, an occasional splash or quick rinse. In addition, arch support is lacking. Once again this is easily corrected with some insoles but you shouldn't have to purchase spray-on DWR and insoles at this price. Lastly, I experienced quality issues with my first pair. The fabric on the sides of the shoe came unglued after 2-3 weeks of wear. TNF remedied the issue by providing a me pair which seems to be holding up better. In light of the customer service, I would say these shoes are worth a try despite some minor shortcomings.

The shoes are very comfortable and soft. I wear my running shoes regularly (even when not running) and prefer the extra padding in these shoes. Even when running, the shoes are comfortable, stay dry and provide good grip. However, the laces on one of the pairs is poorly made. After just a week, the aglets wore off and the lace tips have started to get frayed. Even though I like these shoes a lot, it is very disappointing that something as simple as the laces are poorly made. Now I need to scout local NF stores to find appropriate laces.

I purchased these shoes as a 'go to' pair of shoes prior to a major orthopedic surgery knowing I had a long road of daily training ahead of me. I wanted a shoe that was waterproof, breathable, provided good traction/grip, and reasonable support and stability. To find the arch support to be lacking, but otherwise the shoe delivers on these features. These shoes provide surprisingly good ventilation considering they have a waterproof Gore-Tex lining. I bought some good mid-volume arch support insoles and they help significantly in terms of support and comfort. However, I have serious concerns regarding the durability of the upper. I am 3-weeks post-op (meaning I'm walking on relatively even surfaces and not running). The fabric on the upper is coming unglued and peeling away. I keep track of mileage and this is happening at around 30 miles of extremely light duty use for a trail shoe. The warranty sound so great, but it's not very practical to send back a pair of shoes that are a little over a month old and then waiting 6 weeks for repair or replacement.

I really like the look and feel of this shoe. However my toes and bottom of my foot in the toe box get wet when the shoe gets wet. I'm not talking about walking in 2" of water either....just wet grass.

Just hiked Annapurna Basecamp trek Sept 2017, it should be a happy journal; ironically, the only sad part was about the failure of The North Face Ultra Endurance Gtx shoes!
The TNF shoes was ordered from a famous online store (genuine item & receipted could be provided), it was received with broken internal seams & clearly it was related to quality issue! I have no replacement for waterproof trail shoes, thus had to wear the defected shoes to the trip.
While I was expected the shoes could overcome the rainy weather & ravine stream along the trek. It was hardly to believe & it actually happened, the shoes started to immerse with water at the very first day when I tried to cross the ravine stream!!!!!
It was just the starting of the nightmare. During the trip, it rained every single day & sometimes it was so heavy; there were tones of ravine streams to cross. The result could be easily deduced, my foots got wet in most of the time while I was trekking, the shoes had failed for what it should perform & the saddest part was that you had no replacement at all when you were seeking for.
The following video was taken when I was back to town: https://youtu.be/qyjmcHDj0uE.
It could be clearly seen that water immersed into the shoes in short time and the shoes has no tearing from its appearance or the outsole, it could be easily concluded: the point of immerse is at the gore-tex itself & not by any external damage, and indeed, the short time implies the failure of Gtx is quite serious.
I have never suffered such issue from other waterproof products from other sounded outdoors brands. To be fair, TNF has made many good products including the duffle bag we have used during the trip. But sadly & reluctantly, TNF has now become the lowest place when I considered quality maintaining products.

I am posting an update to my previous reviews. I have been wearing a replacement pair of Ultra Endurance GTX shoes for about 4 weeks and they are coming in-glued just like the first pair. The mode of failure is identical on both pairs and it occurred in the first month or ~60 miles of wear. There is a thin piece of cloth/plastic that is glued over the mesh wrapping around the back of the shoe. This piece is glued directly to the breathable mesh and the glue breaks loose and the mesh bends and flexes. Eventually it will tear off at the seam where the mesh meets other fabric but it looks horrible and I honestly expect shoes to last more than 4 weeks when paying this price. Looking at other TNF shoes, it appears they acknowledge the problem as the newer shoes have stitching instead of glue in this area. Unfortunately, the only resolution they offer is to send the defective shoes back for an evaluation and replacement. To me, that means buying another pair of trail running shoes because I can't wait 6 weeks to get another pair of defective shoes. I'll buy another brand and recommend you do the same. TNF is doin go nothing but contributing to our landfills.
