I have big feet, and the Asics shoes in size 15 have been consistent, and the arch support seems to fit my foot. They are my new go to for casual shoes. The Gel-Kahana 8 was comfortable out of the box. I seem to be more comfortable in shoes designed for over-pronation. The description says these are for neutral to over-pronation, and that isn't quite the support I get from some other shoes. In general, if you like Asics GEL shoes, you will probably like these as well.

For me, no shoe feels 'just right' on the first day that I wear it. They usually feel too small or too big, and this shoe was no exception to that general rule. It felt snug. Now that I have worn it for two weeks or so (but not every day), I will give it a thumbs-up. The arch support is good for my flat feet; the shoe is light and comfortable; I have hiked on gravel roads and dirt paths without complaint. I am a satisfied customer.

I've owned 7 pairs of the Gel-Kahana as they progressed through their colorway changes and I, too, had portions of the treads come off, albeit intermittently. This occurred only on the Kahana 7 Mallard Blue color. I had 3 pairs of that color and 2 of the 3 did that. I'm buying the shoe again because they fit and work so well for my trail hikes and runs. I'm 6-1, 175 with a neutral foot.

I don't know how many Kahana's I've had. Plenty. The soles on this one are just as good as the others. Very good cushioning behind the toes, which is rare. As some have said, this model may be a bit narrower that previous Kahanas, but not enough to ruin my day.

I bought these for my 13 year old who's going through a growth spurt. He has developed flat feet due to the fast growth and softness of the bones. These felt true to size and comfort, and accommodate his prosthetic inserts. Great choice, for comfort and stability.

Perfect from the firts time. It just feels right. A bit slippery on some floors.

I have to agree with others about the comparisons to the Kahana 7's. The Kahana 8's are a step back, especially in the area of comfort/feel. I wear an 8 1/2 and while the size fit was alright, the out of the box feel was more of a tight and plastic feel as opposed to the kahana 7's snug and cushy feel. It's a subtle distinction but very noticeable. I was able to get used to the feel of the Kahana 8's and they worked fine for me (I run 8-12 miles per week). However, they were one of the first running shoes that I ever felt I had to break-in before they were as usable as the Kahana 7's. Overall the Kahana 8's will work as a replacement for the Kahana 7's but I agree with some other reviewers that (A) I wish shoe companies would stop removing good products from their line and (B) if you're looking to find a substitute for the Kahana 7's, the Kahana 8's are inadequate but they're a decent temporary fix until you find you're next great running shoe.

I'm sad. I love Asics, I used to love the Gel-Kahana line. The 8, however is a much narrower fit and tighter in the toe box. Great looking shoe in black, but just doesn't fit.

Sneakers were purchased for my nephew as a Christmas present. He was just told he needed orthotics and his doctor recommended Asics. So he really liked the design of them and fingers crossed they are what he needs.

These felt very comfortable right out of the box. I have arthritis and flat feet, so I wear orthotics in all of my sneakers. Unfortunately, after removing the original insole for my orthotic insole, there was no longer enough room in the toe box. I think this shoe would work great for anyone who doesn't need inserts, but I was out of luck. They are a nice style and appear well-made. I have bought many pairs of aciscs shoes over the years, and I will continue to look for another pair with slightly more room in the toe box.

The heel is very stiff.. like a tough boot. I got blisters on my heel first time out. These seem to need a break in period.

I've bought many pairs of asics over the years and for the last couple Asics are not the same. The fit and the materials used in making the shoes are different.

Fantastic Comfort. Amazing Grip. Poor Quality I love the fit and comfort of the GEL-KAHANA 8. These are the first pair of trail runners I've ever owned and I would buy them again .... if ASICS fixes the durability of the sole. With less than 25 miles on my shoes the tread of the sole began to delaminate and pull away. Thankfully they were under warranty and ASICS gave me credit toward a new pair. I continue to wear these shoes hiking as I was able to glue the treads back on as they fall off. So far this has happened about 5 or 6 times. The shoes perform fantastic and I feel like a billy goat while hiking and scrambling up and down the mountains in Southwest Arizona. I also wear them on the trails and smooth boulders in Northwest Wisconsin. If ASICS were to fix the issue with the sole, I may not ever buy a different pair of shoes.

Very comfortable shoe and very versatile. I run, walk and cross train with these shoes and they did great. However, they didn’t last very long before holes formed on either side of the toes where the shoe bends. I still use them, but would have expected them to last longer.

Well made and look good, but uncomfortable arch support on the outside of the foot, not the inside, where it should be.

Really wanted to like this shoe but was uncomfortable. Middle outside of footbed was uncomfortable for me. Fit was as expected otherwise and appeared to be good quality but had to return.

Super narrow shoe. Wish they sold them in wider widths. Otherwise a really great style for a shoe

Bought these shoes just for work, and love the comfort, feel, look of the shoe. Disappointed by the fact that the sole is already coming unglued after only a few months, especially since I only walk in them. Wonder how bad they'd be if I were actually running in them? Would have rated them 5 stars were it not for that.

The inside tongue stitching really bothered my son, and I found that they did not offer much support in the arch but rather pushed the wearer to the outside heal, so for those with no natural arches, I wouldn't recommend these. They are a nice looking shoe, but sadly we are returning them.
