I've had the coat for a year now and I love it. It is so breathable, wind-blocking, waterproof, and presentable. I wish I'd gotten it sooner, because it is worth the price; the coat is so much more comfortable (breathable!) than the succession of non-Goretex raincoats I've had from MEC through the years. For me, the Durant has ended up being a three season coat : I wore it from October through May... including winter in Ottawa! I'm a brisk walker who hates getting hot and sticky, and it turns out that this coat works like a wonder for brisk wintertime walks. I was comfortable walking across windy bridges at -25C (with merino accessories mind you!) and I didn't get crazy hot when I stepped into a heated building. I switched to my down coat only when I was going to have to stand around in temperatures below about -12C. I've often worn a backpack with the coat, and there is no sign of wear from where the backpack rubs. In contrast to other reviewers, I've had no problem with the hood. Sometimes I flip the tip of the hood back to use the hood stiffener, but most of the time not. The only drawback that I've encountered is probably related to the off-white colour of my coat. A grey colour, from some material used inside the coat, has seeped through the outershell just above the seam on the back of the hand. This makes the cuff look slightly gronky, even when it is clean. I doubt this problem would affect any colour coat other than white.

Absolutely love this jacket. Been wearing it a few months and had to write a review. Late August in Alaska I experienced the shift from hot to the rainy season then to cold and finally this week with snow. Wore this with appropriate layers and wandering through different changing conditions the jacket handled perfectly. I am a huge fan of Arcteryx because it is the only brand that performs as expected and actually fits my body type without making me feel frumpy or fat. At 5'11", I have some to terms with my swimmer shoulders and rowing hips. This jacket is no exception. The jacket performs really well with minimal layering I felt for me personally was around 35 degrees (F). I haven't fully adapted to the cold and I know I will need something more here soon. I would prefer to have a Patera version where it is the same length so rather than buying a new jacket, I took a different approach. I decided to get the Nuri and wear it under. Spent the rest of the day wandering around in it and it was amazing at 28 degrees (F) and below. It was perfect. Looking forward to testing this combo the rest of the winter. Once winter is over I look forward to posting an update and a review on the Nuri!

This jacket is awesome. It fits so well and I get so many compliments on it. I am 5'3" with 29" waist and 39" hips athletic and broad shoulders and the small was perfect. I usually have issues with the shoulders and arms being too tight in smalls so I was pleasantly surprised by the full range of motion I get in my arms and shoulders. If I could choose again though I would have gone with the Patera. It gets down to a damp -5 regularly where I live and this jacket is probably best for+5 degrees Celcius and above. But with a wool sweater underneath it works like a charm :)

Received my new Durant Coat (Dark Moss) today and it is fabulous! Warm, lightweight, good length for everyday wear during cool and wet days. I've a Patera Parka which is a fantastic coat but it is too warm for cool days. My Codetta Coat is great but is too light for mid-October weather and feels a bit tight with my Narin Jacket under it. The Durant Coat is perfect for the current weather in Vancouver. Highly recommended.

I love this coat and bought it for an upcoming trip to Ireland. On very cold days it's great with a warm layer underneath. I spent way too much time fiddling with the zipper. It's not a cheap coat so why such a poor zipper?

I bought this coat for a recent trip to France. I wanted something practical, good looking and waterproof. This coat met all those demands. It rained everyday we were there. I was so glad I had this coat. In Paris I felt stylish and completely fit in anywhere. Pros: The coat is gortex and completely waterproof. Due to the length of the coat and the gortex I stayed dry while many in my family were soaked. With just a light turtleneck underneath, the coat was perfect for the temps we experienced - 40s - 50s. Cons: I had to return the first coat I ordered and get a larger size. I usually wear a medium (5'3" 135#) but the medium was tight in shoulders and too tight to zip up. The zipper was a hassle every time I put on the coat. Hard to get it started. I put some "waxy" substance on the tip and after wearing it everyday it got a little better - but still, for this price the zipper should work. The sleeves are a little long but I didn't mind that so much. The coat is expensive but well made and I think I will be able to wear it for years to come. Overall I am pleased I bought this coat.

Decided to keep it but the size is not perfect. It would be great to have shoulders in size M and the rest like in size L. The button issue is something that cannot be quite ignore when you take off or put on this coat, unfortunately.
