I have gathered at lot of Dead Bird pieces of gear over the years and have been always very satiesfied with your designs. This is the first item you have brought new to the market that in my opinion is totaly misdesigned.
First: When climbing or ascending alpine terrain I prefer to wear a fleece that offers some wind resistance. Your Tau Pullover and the Tau Jacket are still my favourites. This fleece offers no noticable wind resistance.
Second: The pockets should be useable while wearing a climbing harness or a backpack. A great solution are the pockets in the Gamma AR Jacket. The pockets in this fleece sit underneath the harness or back pack strap.
Third: The balaclava can not be used while wearing a helmet. It's either on or off.
Come on, Arc'teryx team, you can do better.

I was very excited to try out the Fortrez hoody but had to walk away from it.
1. The main zipper has trouble zipping up when it gets to the neck. At first I thought it was me but then I realized it need an extra finger to guide the unkinking of the fabric at that point.
2. For its purpose, the length should be at least a couple cm longer at the waist because it lifts too much when the arms are raised.
I like the baklava idea but the design needs revision and so does the price of such a light fleece.

The main zipper broke, is this under warranty and where can I bring in to fix. For this price of this Fortrez Hoody Men, I hope the zipper should be better quality but it's not.

I've had this jacket for a few years now. My initial test hill-walking in Scotland left me disappointed. Ended up very wet and cold as the jacket is not fast drying, particularly on the back, and seems to trap a lot of sweat.
I tried to give it a chance and have worn it several times. Took it out for a week of Scottish winter climbing. Same thing. No good for the walks in, even if worn stand-alone.
Around the campfire, or at the pub, this might be great. But if you're doing any amount of work and exerting some effort, I'd look for an alternative.
Overall it's a pretty disappointing piece and wouldn't recommend it. I'd expect much better from this brand. I think they are catering too much to the life-style crowd and not the performance gear. There doesn't seem to be a clear divide.
