Great shoe, great customer service, but could use more color options

I dropped nearly $200.00 for 990V4, Great shoe, well built, supportive. They run a bit big. I intended to return them for smaller size, I could not get a response from customer service for an RMI. Three weeks later I receive the standard computer drafted response.Customer Service is either the first contact a buyer might speak to for advice-or if there's an issue the last contact a customer might speak with. Either way the New Balance Customer service rep, has two chances to tarnish the company, they often do.

This is a nice shoe overall. It does have modest arch support built in. It fits and feels nice right out of the box. I got the "Navy with Silver" color, and the only difference from the stock photo is that the clear plastic piece in the back has a yellowish tint to it; not sure why that is.

Great shoe overall. Looks great been waiting for this in my size. Not 5 star bc I can't lace all the way up or these tend to hurt around my foot where the first/last/top (depending on how you look at it) eyelet is laced. This is not the only NB shoe that does this but for my flat feet NB does the best and I can live with one eyelet short. As for true to size as far as I can tell its true. I have one foot a tad bit longer so have to get a size up.

These shoes fit my foot like the proverbial glove and provide great support. I did order a half size up.

I went with this shoe this time around specifically because of the promotion that it is for plantar fasciitis - I have difficult feet. The size is true, I wear 10.5 4E, but the long term comfort is shorter than with a 10mm drop in my particular case. After a few hours of use in these sneakers my feet are fatigued - and hot. Although I like the initial comfort I will likely try another model next time.

NB LIFER - Walking on concrete all day can really wear your body down, these shoes really help me. Please make more colors for width 2E size 10. I have 2 pairs and want more colors!!!

I love the 990"s but the old design had more of the swade over the toes, the mesh is tearing at the big toe and has holes in them. otherwise great shoes

I liike everything about the 990 except the feel I got from the inner sole.. It felt "bumpy" and not something I would want to wear for an extented period of time. I was basing this from the inner sole on the many other New Balance shoes I have worn.

I was exctied to find this good-looking shoe in my very wide size, so I ordered it. Great shoe.....wrong sex. I'm a woman and this was a man's shoe, and a size 7 in a man's shoe is too big for my foot. Back it goes (sob!).

I've been buying this shoe for years, even though it's gotten more expensive. I have wide foot. The 4E fits. I would like a bit more arch support (I have flat feet), otherwise these shoes are very comfortable and ready for active sports to walking. When a shoe becomes this popular, there's a reason. I know I'm paying for "made in America." I know these work for me. I'm hooked. The only reason I've held back a star is cost, and I'd like a little more arch support.

Love the 990s for my everyday use. Love the all black design.

Have been running since 1983 and have stuck with the 990 series shoe and all of its variations. The feet never hurt, I do wear orthodics with them, and never in a hurry to take them off at after a run or end of the day. This only and biggest disappointment is the sole. The last several pairs have fell apart long before they wear out. I have glued and re-glued the sole back in place on several pairs. At the cost of these, they should last way much longer. The 4-5 pairs before those, the top side of the canvas/fabric fell apart and left holes. Again, soles were far from wore out. NB stores offered no explanation nor compensation. Yes, I still buy them, but only because me feet never hurt. Not trying to make a fashion statement. Have even been seen wearing duct tape to hold the sole in place.

these are good shoes as I have owned them many times over the last 10-12 years. I think they are very comfortable. A few of the pairs have not held up like they should as far as the stitching coming loose to early in the shoes life. The new balance store has always replace them though.

I purchased these to replace my old 1540's. I wear them around the house and at the gym where I use the elliptical machine. They are what I expected.

These newest 990s seem to run a little large. But that could perhaps be because I moved from a 2E to a 4E. But at 11.5 4E, it seems like I might have an entire size bigger. But for running, due to the swelling of the foot, this should be perfect. So far, they're as comfortable as my old 993s. These might be the only pair of running shoes I'll ever purchase. Thanks, NB!
