I've owned seven or eight pairs of 990 series shoes. the v4 is a big improvement over the v3 in that the carbon fiber plug on the sole has been removed. The carbon fiber was a design flaw that disintegrated long before the rest of the shoe wore out.

My feet are super narrow and flat, so finding shoes is always a challenge. Rigjt out of the box you can tell these are quality! (Made in the USA!) Super comfortable and sturdy to walk in- I have a ton of support and the shoes wrap around my feet perfectly. They look nice and can be dressed up or down. I know some people call these "dad shoes" but I love the retro/90s look and hate the current ultra-boost/bootie construct trend. II bought them in black and will be getting another pair in grey! You won't regret these shoes- quality over quantity. Don't be cheap! Spend the extra money and get something nice for your feet/knees.

I have been having trouble with a callus on my left foot. These shoes have made a world of difference until I see my podiatrist. I'd like to see more 6E shoes from newbalance.

I had a kinder procedure on my right foot last year. I work at a hospital I knew I was going to need good arch support i went into the NB store in Garden city galleria they fitted me with this shoe and I'm amazed. Now almost a year after my surgery my foot feels good it doesnt hurt I enjoy going to work and working 12hr and 16hr. I agree with the workmanship the first pair i bought the seam broke. I took it in the store they sent it off to get fixed they did a horrible job. I called costumer service they replaced my shoes. For the amount of money that they are worth they should be durable.

I always get diffent NB shoes and clothing. I must confess they have the best quality to me because they last forever. These wide ones I got are definitely my favorite, very comfortable, durable and very casual for any activity. I love the details, nice big American flag, made in the USA and perfect color balance combined with reflecting parts that will make you visible at night. I been wearing NB for over 25 years.
