The best sneaker ever

It took a long time, but I finally appreciated the difference between a discount (cheap) shoe and a quality shoe like the New Balance M990V4. I had been struggling with a tailors bunion on my left foot, and eventually resigned myself to suffering with the discomfort when I walked and exercised. The moment I slipped the NB shoes on, all signs of tenderness and discomfort vanished. Don't ask me how that works---better fit, better quality materials and design, true size? I just care that it did work.

I had initially ordered this model in my regular shoe size, 10.5, and unfortunately they didn't offer this color (purple) in a Wide. The shoes were unlaced when they arrived, and just slipping into them with a pair of socks on they were very tight across the base of my instep. I could immediately tell they were far too tight. My toes were at the right spot, so they were fine length wise. But now I faced a dilemma. What I needed was this size in a wide, but zappos didn't have any wides in any size of this color, and had no orders for any. I could get it in a wide in other colors but really liked the purple. I had to decide whether to risk going up a half size and hope that it increased in width enough that it wouldn't pinch my foot. I finally decided to go up an entire size to an 11.5, and much to my relief, they appear to fit fine. In just testing them out around the house it seemed like they had a sort of firm spot where the gap between your toes and the ball of your foot would be. And this was misaligned with my foot, and fell more on the ball of my foot. I'm hoping this doesn't lead to discomfort in the long run, but for now I'm happy with them. Bought them for summer walking and will have to wait for better weather to try them in the real world (It's currently 1 degrees here with over 2ft of snow accumulation.) Love the purple color, though the black area around the laces could have been a different color for my tastes, but overall they're sharp looking and really conform to my foot. It has a wide sole that provides stability and they also seem lightweight. (But of course I've been wearing Merrell trail shoes which are likely much heavier by comparison.) There's not much in the way of tread on the sole though, and that might be a minus on slick or wet surfaces. But for dry weather walking or running I'm confident they'll be very comfortable and wear a good while. Another minor annoyance, and I'll never figure this one out.... but the laces are far too long. When laced and tied in the traditional way, the "ears" and tag ends hand nearly down to the ground. Makes no sense.

I purchased these for my son. He has a very wide foot, and it’s almost impossible to purchase a great sneaker for him. I had that problem until Zappos. Thank you!

I purchased these in black for my husband. He loves them and even wears them to work with his dress pants. he sometimes wears a 12 or 12.5 in shoes, but the 13 fit him best in these.

Perefect shoes with a perfect fit

After spending 3 - 4 hours trying to find a black pair of NBs made is the USA and not doing so, I stooped to buying a black pair not listed as made in the US - but to my surprise what I received were MADE here after all. Clean up your web listings!

I bought these for my husband. Some of the reviews mentioned that they ran small, so I ordered his regular size, plus another that were a half size up. We are keeping the half size up. Thank you Zappos for the free delivery! You make shoe shopping so easy!

Purchased shoes 1/2 size larger as recommended by other buyers and it was a good fit.

Great sneakers and look good. This will be my 4th pair over that many years. I wear them with an orthopedic insert

These are great athletic shoes. Walk three miles with my Golden Retriever every morning, then do two miles on the Elliptical with these shoes. Get about two thousand miles out of each pair and then they become "yard" shoes. Fit and comfort that does not change as they wear! Always have at least two pair.

so I don't usually wear a quad E but my feet swell when I exercise so I tried it this time. Great fit but I think these are just a tad narrower than most 4Es. I usually wear 2E in New Balance and these are pretty close to that. These are great shoes, almost worth the price..... ok so worth the price....Go ahead and get a pair of these guys, don't think you will regret it at all except maybe when you wife sees the credit card statement.
