I really love how there is a inner layer which keeps me warm during fall and winter.

Meine absolute Lieblingsmtze beim Laufen!
Empfehlung!

Bonnet super agrable porter.

Have had this toque for 2 weeks now and it has become my 'go to hat'. My other toques will eventually slide up my ears and leave them partially uncovered. It means having to yank it down every now and then. I haven't had that problem with this toque. Wore it in -26 C windchill walking the dog on a lake where we were exposed to the wind and I was warm the entire time.

Wonderfully warm and deep enough to pull as low as you need it to cover ears.

Style sloppy pour un look de snowboarder/skater. Tuque super chaude avec bandeau interne en polar sur les oreilles.

I love this toque and I get compliments on it all the time. It is really warm, soft and stays put on my head so I can wear it rock climbing (big bonus for me). It also fits under my climbing and cycling helmets.
I have worn mine for 2 seasons and it has held up well. It is slightly fuzzy, but still looks great. It shrank a bit after numerous washes, but that has not affected the fit much since it was slouchy to begin with - it almost fits better.

Being a 6'5 gentleman its hard to find toques, hats and even helmets that fit and are comfortable. This oversized and extra length actually sits on my head like a normal one would. Think my average size is usually in the 62-63cm range and this fits so comfy.

I've always bought my Beanies last minute, from your typical fashion retail stores here in the UK.
They generally cost the same as the Castlegar, but quality is terrible. The Castlegar, like all Arc'teryx gear, seems very high quality.
I have a fairly large head, so have always struggled with having either too small a beanie, or that a "super oversized" beanie is so loose it constantly needs adjusting, or falls off altogether.
The Castlegar seems to be the perfect mix of the two, I could maybe go a touch bigger, but not by much. The elasticity band(?) built in, provides a great snug fit, whilst the appearance still looks slouch fit.

I love my Castlegar beanie. I wear or bring it skiing almost every time I go. Fits loosely but not so loose as to fly off my head at high speeds.
Not designed to fit under a helmet so you can't knock it for that.

I can't exactly "rock" the look because I'm an old guy, but even though the slouch style leaves me looking a little like an aging Cat in the Hat, I love putting this on in frigid weather because it covers everything and keeps me toasty. Really like the simple two-tone color scheme, too.

I bought this garment to protect my ears from cold winter weather. It has done it's job. and it looks good to me. I like the fleecy band inside. When I ski real fast with sunglasses, not goggles, it tends to catch the wind and rise up over my ears. So I'd recommend this hat for cold weather activities that don't involve high speeds and sunglasses. I would also ask Arc' to look into other materials than Acrylic, as I understand it's one of the worst synthetics for environment impact.

I picked this up hoping for a comfortable, very warm hat for the winter. I already own a few knit hats, but none with a fleece earband, so that was the main appeal for me. What I found was a product that is indeed warm, but with some basic drawbacks that can make it less comfortable than the standard knit cap.
This cap is composed of two basic components: The acrylic/wool knit body, which comprises the body of the hat, and the polyester fleece earband. The knit body is very stretchy and flexible, while the fleece earband is not, so when putting the cap on, one has to be careful of the fragile stitching between these two materials that can loosen or tear. (I'll be extra careful when I hand wash this one.) The result is that this "longer length" toque fits my large head like a normal hat in most dimensions, but is still tighter than I'd prefer where the fleece is. Another thing you'll have to deal with is static electricity, which seems to be present whenever I take the hat off after wearing it for more than 5 minutes, which is never a problem with normal wool blend caps.
All in all, this is still my warmest cap, so I will keep it and wear it under my parka's hood when I go outdoors on the coldest days of winter. For the milder days, I'll stick with my standard knit caps. If Arcteryx ever tries making this cap with a paneled fleece headband rather than with a single strip of fleece, I'll definitely be open to trying it out.
