These boots fit my HUGE 18 inch calves!!! I read review after review about which Hunter boots to order with my gigantic cakes! I'm 5'3 280! I initially tried the adjustable back tall boots in 2 size my regular 7.5 and then an 8!!! Fit way too tight and slouch down! These boot are perfect! I have PLENTY of room for skinny jeans AND "thick" socks!!! I'm beyond excited! The ankle portion was very thought while trying to put the boots on, but once on they are perfect! They hit just above my shin! I hope this helps another person with big calves! I could not find any review from people with calves bigger then 16 inches, so here's one from a gal with 18 inch calves, lol...these are adorable!!! I purchased an 8, and I'm glad I did because they will be perfect with thick socks, I'm usually a 7.5!!!

Short legs, Athletic 16-inch calves and a Small foot = BOOT DISASTER usually. Not so with these babies! I never thought I would be able to wear Hunters, but these slipped right on and up with plenty of room for thick socks and jeans! SO HAPPY! I'm usually a 7 and ordered that size and it fit like a dream. THANK YOU ZAPPOS!

My calves thanks to crossfit are more like oxen and while this is great for lifting – not so much for boots. So many years I have gazed longingly at the wears of wellies as they splished and splashed stylishly and without care. I was relegated to the sidelines worried about my leather boots or dousing suede in weatherproofing. Well no longer! These boots fit my well-fed gams!!! Even more I can wear sock with them…pants even! For reference my calves measure 15 ½ inches, I have a size 8.5 to 9 foot that is not near the narrow side and can back squat over 200lbs. The size 8 fit perfectly. I can now muck about with well-fitting wild abandon! Thanks Zappos – you guys are the best!!!!!!!!!

I have wide calves and sorta wide feet. I normally wear a 7.5 but got a size 8 in these to account for those things. They fit me very well. I did have trouble sliding my foot into the boot without socks on (in my excitement to try them on as soon as I got home) but with socks it's no problem. I find this a lot with boots: the opening to the footbed is narrow but the footbed itself is plenty wide. I can easily wear these with skinny jeans. I also tried the Hunter "Original Back Adjustable" in size 8 but the shaft angle didn't work with my muscular calves. I guess my legs are a little bowed and the boots are straight up. These work better for me.

As someone with athletic calves, I really like these boots. They don’t feel that short on my calf as I’m a very short person to begin with. The originals were too narrow and any of the talls are too tall and scrape the back of knee. My feet aren’t small enough to wear the kids sizes (the go-to trick for short people wanting to wear the original talls) so I decided to try this version. They’re perfect. I’m a size 9 shoe and ordered the 10’s. I knew they’d be a tad big because Hunters tend to run big, but I have zero tolerance for any hint of snugness in my shoes so a little big is better than a little snug to me. The 10’s did feel a little big so I got the Hunter shearling insoles. They were just enough to make the foot box fit perfectly, they added insulation, and they eliminated that little bit of pressure I could feel from the heel of the boot making these comfortable enough to wear all day long. I keep the back strap as tight as possible but I love knowing I can let it out if I want to wear tall socks or leg warmers. Even on the tightest setting I can easily keep jeans tucked in. I might have to start a small collection of different colors now.

I love these boots! They are perfect for people who are too short for the original tall boots. They are also perfect for those with wider calves like me. I'm 5'1' and have thick calves and these are comfortable and cute.

These are perfect for wide feet and wide calves! I normally wear a 9W or 9½W in running shoes and also wear an 8 in Chucks. With thinner socks, the 7 was perfect (8 was very roomy). I originally ordered the regular Hunter Original Short boots and was disappointed that my calves were being suffocated. I was so happy to find these instead! They provide excellent arch support, but they can get very toasty rather quickly. They are probably not great summer rain boots, but I am thinking that these will be great fall/winter boots.

Adorable- for my wide calves- amazing- but for $150 the ankle was tight even without a sock! Make the ankle a bit roomier. I don’t have big ankles or wear wide shoes but I have large calves- and my ankle didn’t fit- I so had high hopes ?

I’m usually a 6.5 in women. I get a 7 in Hunter, they fit well with a little extra room to insert the boot liners like the hunter socks and such. They fit great with liners and are cozy in colder weather. Love these, definitely recommend!

Returning the boot because I got it too big. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and the charts suggested to go up in size. So I bought a 10 and it ended up being way too big...even with the hunter boot sock. So i got a 9 instead and it fit perfect.

I have tried the Hunter Tall boots twice and unfortunately haven't been able to find a pair to fit my calves. These short rain boots are perfect! Just broke them in with a wet and muddy hike! Highly recommend!

Love these boots! I ordered the tall Boots and they didn't fit...I have lrg calves! I had to return those. But these boots are exactly what I wanted! Fit awesome! I bought the socks, thinking I'd need them, but, it's snowy and 28 degrees, today and my feet are warm without the socks!

I ordered these boots in a 9 and they fit but they were too big for my 14 inch calves. Other then that they were perfect.

I always wear and 8.5 and went with an 8. The fit is perfect and it's easy to get on and off with the adjustable calf

Honestly love these. I have wanted Hunter boots for a while but just wasn't willing to spend the money. After walking home from work in the rain and squishing in my shoes the entire way, I bit the bullet and bought them. I'm so excited for it to rain next so I can stay dry on my walk home! Only problem is they are a little small. Depending on the brand, I can either be a 7.5 or an 8. I opted for the smaller size (7) based on other reviews but I'm going to exchange them for the next size up. I could've gotten away with the 7's but I want to be able to very easily slip them on and off and to wear a thick sock if I want.

These are rain boots, not athletic shoes, so don’t expect awesome arch support. These boots are super durable!

Love these boots. After having to let go of a pair of the tall hunter boots (for being too tall on my short legs), I looked at these for months. My legs are on the shorter side, with thick calves. The adjustable boots are perfect for that reason. Love these and know I’ll have them for years to come

Love love love! I have a bit wider calves (and being a bit on the short side) and had another pair of hunters that kind of dug into them - decided to try these and it fit perfectly! Got them in time for this week’s crazy rainy weather in PA!

Love these Hunter boots! I deliberated for way too long on whether to purchase the knee-high or the original short adjustable. I couldn’t be happier with my choice. I have “normal” calves, and I love the back adjustable as it provides more room. It also feels a little more rugged as well as being stylish. If you’ve had these in your Zappos “cart”, hit the purchase button.

These boots are a nice fit, I have a large calf size which requires a 18” circumference, thus works.

This boot has potential. It is a little bigger than I expected. What turned me off was the pain that I felt when I just used it for two hours. The top side of my tight foot was in terrible pain, maybe caused for the very hard /lack of flexibility construction. Sadly, had to return them

I read other reviews on sizing and decided to order a 7. I’m usually a 7.5/8. The boots fit, and they fit my large calves (16.5”) but the ankles were snug, I had a hard time getting the boot on and off and I tried with varying thickness of socks. I decided to return.
