These shoes are great for modern, lyrical, or jazz. They are lightweight, but provide the needed surface area to turn on! These shoes are overall fantastic! They are great for turning, and feel very similar to Bloch's ballet flats, most specifically I own the Synchrony and the soles are the same on these shoes. The sole has a wide platform allowing for lots of turning space! I love that I can turn like in my ballet shoes, but still have my heel open to feel the floor and provide traction. These are also a very good color match for my skin tone, and from a stage it provides a barefoot look! The only downside is that because they are canvas they do wear out pretty quickly. I had mine for about four months, and they had holes through the toes. However I danced in these shoes 5+ hours a week, all of which was pretty hard on my shoes with lots of turns and such. Also the elastic on these shoes have a silicone lining that helps the straps stay in place. In the beginning this is very effective and I almost never had to readjust my shoe. However, about the same time the canvas is wearing out though, this lining "grip strip" is starting to come off. The canvas material is very stretchy and allows for toes to spread and feel comfortable in the shoe. The shoe does run very large. According to the size chart my 8-8.5 size foot should have needed a large; however, the large was much too big, and didn't hug my foot right which made the shoe twist when I turned. This could be because I have a fairly narrow compressible foot though. I ended up with a small, which worked perfectly! I am planning on buying another pair because these feel so good, I only wish they lasted a little longer, but either way I think they are so worth it! I would definitely recommend these shoes to anyone looking for a form fitting, lightweight shoe that maintains the barefoot look while allowing for fantastic turns!
