I have extremely flat feet and a bunion that requires wide shoes to boot, so for what feels like decades I've had zero luck with "dress shoes" of any kind. I decided to research a bit, after getting tired of wearing black New Balance sneakers with suits, and came across the Clarks Escalade and the ECCO Helsinki slip-on as my top two choices. The Helsinki seemed to get more raves, but the one thing I noticed was that the Escalade came in a "wide" width so I opted for that one, and I'm more than pleased that I did. I think the shoe looks good: definitely stylish enough for formal dress, though as some have pointed out the sole does seem as if it might be slippery on a smooth surface. However, in terms of comfort, this is where everything is off the charts great for me. The width is perfect -- I don't feel any compression at my toes, especially the cutting that can begin to happen after a couple of hours of wearing some shoes -- and my bunion doesn't feel any discomfort either. I was shocked that I didn't even seem to have to "break in" this pair. The arch support isn't the greatest. It's somewhere between moderate and non-existent. However, I can put a Spenco arch in there just fine without any additional tightness. I think my custom-made orthotics might be too much for these shoes, but that's OK. I don't plan to be in these except for special occasions. Finally, though, I can attend events in appropriate dress from head to toe and not feel like my feet are killing me the entire time.

I bought these shoes about 8 months ago, and wore them daily. I found them comfortable and stylish. Unfortunately, the sole has broken, and my foot keeps getting wet. For other people's sake, I hope my pair was defective. But in case there's a pattern, you might want to know.

These are comfortable and very nice looking shoes. They are a little bit tighter than I would have expected, and I got the standard width. Also, the sole is a hard rubber, almost feeling like a plastic, which makes these shoes loud on hard surfaces and also slippery on smooth surfaces.

I don't write reviews that often but I literally have had the same pair of shoes for almost 10 years. I've worn these pretty regularly and could have probably gotten another year out of them, if I didn't have to walk to work sometimes. I bought these for $90 and just got a new pair for $55. I honestly can say this is the best pair of shoes I've ever had!

Runs much smaller than marked. Soles are VERY slippery. Nice looking, but crease quickly. Sent back.

They're decent looking shoes, but after about 45 days of light wear, the stitching on one of the shoes is failing. See the attached photo for details.

Clarks Escalade Step is my first pair of this kind and I’m very pleased with the comfortable fit. I still like my lace up shoes but these are one of the best slip on shoes I’ve purchased.

This Shoe fits well. Very comfortable to wear. I wear it to work everyday. It not the fancy type, but a good choice for casual work shoes. The slip one style make it very easy to get in and out of the shoes.

My husband asked me to order these because he had a pair in the brown color. HE LOVES THIS SHOE! If you have normal feet like he does, you will be ecstatic to have made this purchase like he is!

I wear an 11 1/2 D. Perfect Fit with dress socks. Sole is somewhat slick so be careful on water or ice. Otherwise a great buy for Clarks, very stylish and comfortable.

Fit beautifully, true to size, very comfortable. The style isn't outstanding; the leather is a little shiny and rubbery looking, and it's not exactly a sleek-looking shoe. But it's a great around-town shoe, easy to put on and with enough style and formality to pass on most occasions.

Great shoe; had the Beeson model before but no long made; had to get this Escalade model in a wide because the D width ran narrow in this model. Still a great comfy shoe.Love the look too.

Enjoyed these shoes, I’ve bought them at least 3 times over the years. They hold up well and are perfect for the office and even comfortable for lunchtime walks.

Still breaking these shoes in. The style and overall comfort are great. The only problem is with putting them on. My feet are usually small for the size shoe I wear but for some reason, I have a hard time getting them through the opening. This is probably due to them being new. However, they fit great once I get them on and the soles are easy to break in. The padding in the heal is fine and I can only hope that these shoes last as long as my others have. Overall, I’m pleased.
