This is warm, but not a good fit for barrel-chested dogs. Our boxer tried this on in two sizes, but neither one fit his ratio of big chest to tiny rear. It was super easy to put it on. I would recommend these for a dog that gets really cold and has more of a tube-shaped torso. Unfortunately we had to send this back in favor of the Ruffwear Quinzee which our dog loves.

I've searched high and low for a jacket that would fit my oddly shaped dogs. I have a Boston and Dachshund. Boston's have big chests and dachshund are long, as you know. My Boston has a very thick chest but smaller everywhere else. My dachshund is very heavy. So, the S fit my fat dachshund quite snug but works well and I do not mind the fit (he is sort of IFFY about it) - it definitely keeps him warm and keeps his under belly clean - so important to me where I live. My boston took a medium but it is a bit too long and bit too big. It's comfy for him thought and works. And, he does not make a mess on it when he urinates. I love these products, just wish they would not have such a big difference in the actual sizes between the small and medium and large. They need half sizes!!!

The material and sewing quality are very good on this product. The seams are finished cleanly, but it would be nicer if the inside seams were taped so the shed hair doesn't stick in the threads. The zipper works smoothly, but it seems like it zips in the wrong direction, since the pull coverlet is on the start (collar) end instead of the finish end (tail) which makes it a bit difficult to insert the zipper end into the closer and thus gives no protection to the zipper pull when zipped. All in all, a good product.

Bought this puffy in medium for our 6 year old female Doberman. Have had previous difficulties finding outerwear that fits our dog's wide chest and narrow waist. This Ruffwear puffy fits her perfectly through the belly without sagging and the stretchy panel reduces underarm chafe on the run. Adding an offset zipper eliminates the anxiety of pulling something over our dog's head. The color (larkspur purple) is cute without being pink. Our dog really seems to be comfortable in this vest!

Typically, my pup wears a small in all other coats, but the Small in this style is VERY large. I even measured based on what Ruffwear's site indicated and it was still too big. I advise ordering 2 sizes down first to see if the product fits. Other than that, it's a great coat to keep your pup warm on cold days...especially when camping.
