I was looking for a sporty shoe that I could walk all day in. I am a runner so I have lots of running shoes but I wanted shoes that were dressier. I tried on many shoes like this in other brands and finally I found a shoe that works! I was looking for a shoe to wear with jeans and walk the streets of Europe. I wanted to be able to wear no show socks too. These shoes are so comfortable and they have so much support for my feet. So finally after trying eccos,mephisto,taos,easy spirit,naot etc these are the shoes I went with and I am so happy! I know Zappos is finally happy I found what I was looking for!

Keen were my go-to sneakers for years until my feet began to get crotchety. Lately, it's been the biking injury of plantar's fasciitis. Ouch! The only shoes that haven't hurt my heel have been my Birkenstock sandals, and my Naot Mary Janes. I thought it would be nice to add to that, sneakers. But Naot's sneakers were too narrow. Then I thought maybe, just maybe Birkenstock made sneakers now, too. And to my great surprise I discovered the Manitobas. Then, being somewhat of a pessimist, I was certain from the photo, that they'd be too narrow and leave me no room in the toebox, but figured, with Zappos, I'd nothing to lose by giving them a try. And again, to my great surprise they were a perfect fit in my usual size 39, same size I take in Birkenstock sandals. And though my feet are getting old and crotchety, I can mollify them by making them feel pretty cool walking around in the hipster kind of style without wincing at every step.! Thank you Birkenstock for making the all-perfect all-season sneakers.

These are beautiful, athletic-shoe style Birkenstocks. The leather is soft and high-quality. If you enjoy wearing this brand and need a pair of comfortable leather casual shoes, try these! I bought these in my regular Birkenstock (Arizona) sandal size, 28. They felt fine when I tried them on, but before wearing them, I reordered the same shoe in size 39, to see if my prescription orthotic insoles would fit. They do! Will keep and do further trying-on comparisons, so I can wear the size that feels the very best and return the other pair. Thank you, Zappos!

This Birkenstock Manitoba in black is a good-looking shoe. I ordered size 39 and a 38 1/2 if offered might work. Very flexible sole, regulation Birkenstock footbed is removable. Rounded toe box really feels good. Extremely well made and worth the money. I have a thin foot and even with a gel insert on top of the removable footbed it was too roomy and slips up and down on my heel. It is deep enough for a serious orthotic. Even so, it does not look like a boat on my foot. The leather inside and out is soft. Very good arch. I normally wear a 7 1/2 shoe, and a size 8 sneaker as I wear socks. I wish I could keep this shoe. Stylish and pretty. I really appreciate Zappos service. The best!

WOW!!! Received them in less than 24 hours. Couldn't believe it!! And, thank goodness, they fit perfectly. Even though I wear a size 37 in sandal, I ordered a size 39 in the shoe because I wear a 8-8.5 shoe. Love these arch supports....not too arched, and not too flat. Perfect shoe for me. Love these shoes! I have a recent diagnosis of sesamoiditis and Birkenstock sandals have been the only shoes I can wear without a gel pad or replacement cork footbed. I wear a 37 N in the sandals and size 37 sneakers are working out well, with plenty of room in the toebox. I walk 3-5 miles a day on city sidewalks and they were comfortable right out of the box. The back of the shoes do rub a little, but they're already starting to break in after two days and shouldn't be a problem for much longer.

I needed a pair of shoes for a trip so that I didn't have to pack more than one. I love my Birkenstock sandals so I thought I would these a try. I have been wearing them for a week now. They are great. The size was just like my sandals and they feel like Birkenstocks. They have been perfect for all the walking, sightseeing and shopping I have been doing. And they look good too.

You can't go wrong buying a Birkenstock shoe. I purchased this shoe for walking and I must say they are very comfortable,normally my hips hurt when walking long distance but with these shoes no problems at all!

These are my favorite shoes! They are fantastically comfortable even after many hours of walking or standing. They have the classic Birkenstock shape, meaning lots of room for toes. The foot bed is similar to the foot bed used for Birkenstock sandals, but perhaps not quite as contoured. There's no toe bar. The the foot bed keeps my big toes from bending too much when I walk, which is great for hallux limitus (arthritis in the big toe). I wear a size 39 narrow in Birkenstock classic sandals but a size 40 in these sneakers. The leather is flexible but durable. The look is casual, but not as casual as an athletic sneaker, so I've been wearing them with everything except dressy clothes. I hope that more colors will become available!

Like them! Slightly different fit then regular birkenstock but i can walk in them for hours without back pain! Keeping them!

Terrific shoes. Allows me to look like a "regular" little old lady when out and about, rather than the hippie image that goes with wearing the Arizona's with socks. They just look more suitable to cool weather. My husband tells me they look just like the shoes the stylish ladies in his Tai Chi group wear. Makes me laugh. We don't choose Birkenstocks for style. But since I switched to wearing Birkenstocks exclusively 18 months ago my ability to navigate paved streets and uneven ground has improved dramatically. The negative heel offsets a seriously arthritic ankle and knee amazingly well. I can hardly believe the difference in comfort. The soft footbed is best, but the Manitoba has a useful place in the rotation.

First of all, these shoes are NOT made in Germany, as most other Birkies are. They are made in Portugal. That is stamped on the tongue. Be that as it may, these are still exceptionally well-made, and that fact does not affect my fondness for these great shoes. But I do believe Zappos should get their description right. At least they are not made in China. Anyhow, still the great Birkenstock fit, excellent foot support from front to back. Even though they are not the soft footbed model, I found the footbed to still be very comfortable. I will probably insert a foam insole from Wal Mart for a little cushion. I have chronic Plantar Fasciitis, and I normally can't wear shoes with a hard footbed, but Birkenstocks, for some reason, are the exception. A little pricey but in this case you do actually get what you pay for. The quality of materials and workmanship Is top-notch. If I could afford it, I'd buy a second pair in another color. Highly recommended!

Love this shoe. It feels so right on my foot. The arch is just right. So pleased to find a comfortable supportive shoe that I can wear regularly.

LONG-time birkie devoté both sandals and Londons. They're the only shoes I can wear without a birkie or orthotic insole. I'm planning a trip and wanted a more enclosed shoe, plus they looked like a comfy change-up work shoe. Tried my standard size 37 but the front of the shoe is flatter (less tall?) in the front box and there wasn't much room between the end of my toes and the shoe. This doesn't matter so much for a sandal or the very roomy londons. So I switched them out for a 38 and they were perfect. Many of my younger co-workers think they're pretty cool and can't believe they're birkies. PS - the first replaceent I got had 37's in a 38 box. I called to report it and get another pair and the phone process was great and my helper was so nice and personable. Thumbs up to you all and thanks for the great joke of the day!

a great walking shoe for NY streets.

It's not an ideal shoe for someone with a high arch. My arch needs an extra high curved insert and more shock absorption. Although my foot fit well inside the shoe, the arch insert is designed for an average arch and doesn't provide enough support. Nor does it absorb enough impact, which is very important for sensitive, high arched feet. Even if I put my own orthotic into the shoe, and remove the one that came with it, it leaves some of the bottom of the shoe without enough cushion. My podiatrist advised against buying shoes with ready made inserts, if you decide to remove the insert, because the higher price is based on that extra feature of having the included support. So, I'd say invest in this shoe if you need just average support and plan on using the insert that came with it.

It's a nice design. I wish I could have kept them but these were too narrow for my feet. I couldn't tell if they were the narrow or medium width.

I can wear a size 42 Birkie sandal but I need a 43 in a Birkie clog. I was ever so hopeful that these might fit, but they were too small overall. I wish Birkenstock made women's shoes larger than a 42, and I wish they made them for wide widths. I would be happy to pay the price for them. They are pain-free footgear, when they're available in the right size!

Shoe was too narrow

These shoes are too tight across the toes, and my feet are pretty skinny. Have to return them.
