This is an awesome shoe. It's almost like wearing a regular tennis shoe because of the thickness. I ordered a size up and yes they run small. So I think thin socks would work with sizing up but if you want to wear thick socks I'd go for maybe the cvt wool pair and a size up. The thing with this model is the toes are smaller and so the thick sock wouldn't work if you sized up twice it would be way too long I'd say. I have 13 pairs of vibrams so what would I know! But I like them anyway. They are very grippy and look cool with jeans.

I wear size 37 Vibrams for running. I purchased these in a 38 and wear them with the five-toed socks which works perfectly. I recently hiked in these on very slippery fall leaves - I was the only one in our group that didn't slip once! They held firm to the rocks and jagged edges. Not once did I place my foot down painfully either so I am pleased with the thicker soles. I had to avoid wet boggy spots and mud but it was worth it. These do not come up high on the ankle like a normal hiking boot nor are they waterproof. I did get mildly cold toes but the temperature was 30 degrees.

I'm usually 8.5-9 and 41 seems right in this shoe with and without socks and a small arch support insert. I had a pair of FiveFingers a few years ago and wearing hem always helped with pain from a severe bunion. I hike regularly and plan to try these out since it's hard to find shoes that stabilize my heel while accommodating bunions. Also have Reynaud's, so I was happy to see a warmer version of these. Have only worn around the house so far, but I'm hopeful.

I wanted to love these, but they were just too narrow for me. My foot felt like it overhung the outsole at the ball-of-foot and at the inner arch, so I coudn't stretch my feet out, resulting in compromised stability. Otherwise, the shoes seemed quite comfy -- with soft, plush materials -- and looked so cute!

Too short in my normal size (8.5/40) so sent back for a 41. Loved the shoes though!!!

I had really wanted to like this shoe--I have worn other Vibrams for five years and have loved the minimalist support. I ordered a half-size larger in this style and they were too big. The pinkie toe sizing and shape also felt "off" to me--the other toes were cushioned well, but not the pinkies. Not sure if the fabric was too much or if the design was askew. I returned them with some disappointment because the insulation otherwise felt really nice.

I ordered the Vibram Trek Ascent Insulated from Vibram. Their site said to order one size larger than your normal Five Fingers size to accommodate the insulation. I did and they fit fine. But, I do not feel that the insulation was a benefit for me. I wore them around my carpeted and tiled home twice in the cold mornings for a while. My feet actually got colder in them than they were in a pair of mid-weight wool socks and no shoes. I sent them back. Too bad as the soles were SUPER grippy on the tile. I own six pair of various Vibram Five Fingers models and love them all. It would have been a great benefit to have an insulated pair for winter.
