Was really really really short for a 4XT. It came up to half of my stomach section. I never got to use it.

I loved this jacket when I first put it on, but as soon as I started moving around I realized the sleeves are too short and pull way up. It's too bad, I liked everything else about this jacket. I'm 6'5 and purchased the LT.

The zipper stuck on the way up and down. It felt cheap. I returned the jacket. Don't know if it was just this jacket or all of them. I liked the jacket otherwise.

I own several Columbia rain jackets and bought this hoping for another option. The sizing is way different from any other Columbia jackets I own (even a brand new one I bought the same day) so had to return. the 4XL fit like an XL or 2XL.

I have enjoyed Columbia jackets for over a decade and been impressed by their quality. I am saddened that I must warn fellow consumers about the shockingly poor quality of the Columbia Men's Ascender Softshell Jacket. The 2017 version has an inferior main zipper that pulls apart at the slightest pressure. I am stunned that the designers of the 2017 version of the softshell jacket wouldn't see this if they tested this. I am returning the two softshell jackets I just bought. I can understand looking for ways to reduce cost of production, but this should not be done at the expense of quality. Columbia:please bring back the 2015 zipper design for your future versions of your softshell jackets even if the jacket costs more!

I ordered this jacket and the Steens Mountain Fleece because this is one of the few companies to offer extended sizes. The fleece came in first. It did run a little small, but it zipped. The Ascender runs much smaller. Not only could I not zip it, but there were a good five inches of the zippers not even touching. It's like they were made by two different companies. What on earth.
