I love these shorts/pants. They are lightweight and I can move freely in them. The only problem I have encountered is that the zipper comes undone and gets stuck while hiking through rough terrain (aka bushwhacking). Even with this issue I am still purchasing another pair because these are the only pants/shorts I have found that fit well and aren't too long when you unzip them.

While these convertible pants are made of high-quality material and are very comfortable for hiking, I expected more from North Face for the price. The cargo pockets on the thigh are too small. Even my phone, which is a smaller iPhone SE, was too big to securely fit. The other major omission I noticed right away was the lack of zippers on the pant legs at the ankle. This means that you have to remove your hiking boots in order to convert the pants to shorts.

I was disappointed. I loved the pants but they ran small.

I bought short but they are still too long, too bad they didn't come in petite.

Quick drying and durable. I like the many pockets and the drawstring, which is helpful while losing weight on a long distance hike. I don't like (or rather they seem like a waste of fabric) the two capris loops only a few centimetres away from each other. I feel that the buttoned pockets were larger in the previous version and better held a passport - could be my imagination but I would like a slightly larger pocket. Also I feel that this is an endless refrain in the hiking community, but 'please add more colours'! Overall, happy with these pants.

The 96% nylon/4% elastane material does not have any type of breathable Dri-absorbancy designator, so I thinking these will NOT be helpful in hot humid climates. On closer look, the insides have some sort of film, so I am thinking they will be like rubber sweat pants...? The fit is great.

North Face updated the Paramount 2.0 to make the shorts longer and the seam less attractive than the older style of the Paramount 2.0. Now its trending to man-length shorts, just like all the other women's zipoff pants on the market. Not an improvement.

These are the only convertible pants that I can find with a short 5" shorts inseam. These pants are almost perfect but... I don't understand how ankle zips are missing! When you want to go from pants to shorts on the trail, you have to take off your hiking boots. Very inconvenient. I bought two pairs because of the overall fit, fabric and shorts length, but I'm taking them to a tailor to have 12" zippers added at the ankles. I hope side zips are added to the next version!

This pants are nice but the pockets are too small to put anything in. I don't like the way the zipper feels around my legs it is kind of hard and rigid. The fabric feels weird and I don't like the fact that they don't have the mid calf roll up feature like the paramount peak pants. I bought these to replace my old paramount peak pants that I wore out. Since they don't make this pant any more I figured that these would be the closest replacements. I am mildly, disappointed.

too large. I used the sizing sheet on North Face based on my pants purchases from other stores. It is way too large. I have to pull strings hard to 'purse' the waist and it looks like a sac. Ordering a smaller size-lets see.

Size 6 seems to run large in the waist and hips. Not a good fit for my body type that is not super curvy. I do appreciate that North Face offers a short inseam, I just wish the fit wasn't so baggy.

The product description said these were slim fit. When I got them the tag on the pants say "relaxed fit". They are way to baggy in hips and legs! I will return them.

I ordered these hoping they would provide me with a good hiking pant option as well as double as travel pants. While the size 2 (even tho the NorthFace size predictor indicated my size should be a 4) fit around the waist and hip, the overall leg width was super wide and just looked very baggy and poorly fitting when on. I returned these and order the Paramount Convertible hiking pant (not the 2.0) and very happy I did. The Paramount Convertible fit like a dream in the size 2 petite (for reference, I am 5'3" and @110#). They are NOT a low-rise pant coming up just below my belly button. So, just what I was looking for (the lower rise hiking pants I already own are often pushed down further by the hip belt on my daypack and I am constantly having to pull them up.) If it were not for the rather noticeable red zipper tab on the R leg, these pants are dressy enough for an evening out! The fabric on the Paramount Convertible (not 2.0) is much nicer, light enough for summer and looks as if it will wear well. Planning on using them for an upcoming hiking trip to Switzerland. So skip the 2.0 and try the Paramount Convertible!

I had such high hopes, but I literally couldn't believe how huge these pants were when I removed them from the large box -- yes, NF used a big box for these ostensibly rugged-wear pants, as if they were shipping a prom dress. Why? I'm 5' and wear an Eddie Bauer, Lands End and LLBean 10P. I thought the 10 Short would do the trick. But they are way too big, and so was the packaging, which matters to me for returning purposes. That said, they came on time and the return process seems good.

I wore these on a short hike (4 hours) and got a small rash on my inner thigh. Okay, I thought, I need to wear a belt with these. So I did, for the next, longer hike (8 hours). When I took them off I had a rash all over my upper thighs. I did wash the pants before wearing them. I have sensitive skin, so just something to be aware of if you also have sensitive skin.

I like that the shorts zip off to a shorter length than most and the material feels durable. My big complaint is that, unlike the male version, these pants don't feature a side zip to help with taking off the pant bottom without having to take off your hiking boots which makes them not entirely fit for purpose

I have several of these pants from 5-6 years ago. I wish I had bought more and put them away. They fit like no other conversion pants I've tried on. I wear the shorts by themselves and add the legs if needed. Two years ago, I bought gray to add another color to my black and khaki pairs. The material was cheaper and a mishap hiking put a hole in the knee of the leg immediately. The shorts were about 2 inches shorter as well, but still doable. Now these shorts are even shorter than that pair, and I really wish they were still about 6-8 inches long. The length didn't look bad at all. I really wish you would do two versions of these pants - one a little longer on the shorts or add about an inch back to them.... TNF fit is second to none on these pants if the shorts had more length.

I needed a pair of lightweight convertible pants to wear for all day hiking in Death Valley. These seemed to fit the bill and I liked the fact that the shorts were a good length. After several hours shooting sunrise, it was nice to be able to "change" into shorts without having to drive over an hour back to the hotel. Unfortunately, the zipper along the edge of the shorts rubbed against my skin, and the fabric of the pants rubbed against my bottom and legs. The shorts were not tight, but while hiking and bending to shoot photographs in the heat, the fabric and zippers literally abraded my skin!! After wearing them for 12 hours, my skin was so raw that it looked like I had welts and even the water from a shower stung! And now, a week later, I still have rough scaly patches from where the convertible zippers hit. I returned these for a full refund!
