Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I have gotten so many compliments on this rain jacket! It's very stylish and slimming. I like the longer length because it keeps me better protected from the elements. It's very lightweight, and I like that it's packable in it's own pocket so you can carry it around easily when not using it. I had a jacket that was "water resistant" but it did nothing in an actual rainstorm. This jacket is waterproof and that makes a big difference. It is thin, so I've been wearing a fleece underneath for warmth. The hood is adjustable in two directions to keep it from falling over your face, and the brim keeps the rain off my glasses which is nice.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
This jacket, which I got in garnet, is nice in many ways. I'm tall (5' 9") tall and, unlike many jackets I try, this one has sleeves that are long enough for my arms and long enough to reach my waist. It also has a hood that fits closely and stays firmly on, plus it has a baseball hat type rim on it for extra protection. It is a long jacket, which I like, and is actually longer in the back (to cover your bum when you're sitting down) than it is in the front. It is very lightweight, feels like quality material. I'd have kept it except for one problem: the zipper zips high up all the way up to the chin--great for super wet, windy, cold days but not so great for everyday wear. I tried zipping all but the last 6-8" at the top of the zipper but that makes the fabric at the neck stick out in a funny way. It's a plastic zipper so it won't fold down and lie against the jacket like I wish it would. So it's "all or nothing"--either zip the jacket up all the way and cover your whole neck, or don't zip it up at all.

Such a cute style, and I love the fabric (soft and light), but I will have to send back because of the fit. I am about 5'4", 130 lbs. This must be made for someone super tall. The shape was very cute and flattering, but not on me...the waistline fell around my hip level. Sleeves were down to my fingertips. The sleeves are super narrow...tight at the elbows. How could you layer under this shell with such a tight fit? The zipper is a bit stiff and tricky. So nice to look at, but, sadly, not a good fit for me.

A Rip-Off of the Highest Order -- Grossly Insufficient for Actual Use Like so many others I've talked to, I planned a vacation that took advantage of Iceland's WOW airline. My friend and I wanted to go backpacking, and what better place to get your hike on than Iceland? I had almost everything I needed except a good rain/wind jacket. After hemming and hawing for a week, I ended up with this one, and I have to tell you that I regret it. I really, really regret it. Checking out the Kühl website, you get the impression that they pride themselves on creating "tough" clothes meant to worn in the elements. Which, as someone who tried to wear this jacket as she camped and hiked in the mountains for two weeks, I find laughable and offensive. Unless Kühl's version of trekking involves sticking your head out of the car window to smell the breeze, there is no possible way this jacket's $200 price can be justified. Iceland's pretty rainy. You will be miserable without a good rain jacket...unless you're me, of course, who HAD an expensive rain jacket and still managed to suffer. I did nothing out of the ordinary on day one--no bushwhacking, no strolls through a store full of pointy objects--of my trip and felt very confused when my arm started to feel cold and wet. I was wearing a $200 rain jacket! I look down to see a hole. On day one. Maybe I should mention that it rained for 12 out of the 14 days we were traveling? When you're backpacking, you heavily rely on what you have. You trust it to work. Otherwise, things fall apart like dominos. Oh, your arm is soaked? Good luck getting it dry when it won't stop raining. Have fun trying to keep the inside of your tent dry when what you're wearing UNDER your rain jacket is soggy. On and on. It's absolutely infuriating. Apart from a picture of the hole, I've also included pictures of the inside of the jacket after 20 minutes of taking down a tent in a light rain--not a downpour, not fat drops of rain. Light, misty rain. Do you see the darker bits? That's where the water got through. My head was damp. My shoulders were damp. We escaped into a gas station for coffee and I took off the jacket to see the damage. I was appalled. How is a waterproof jacket worth $200 when it is not waterproof? I could also wax poetic about how infuriating the zipper is on this thing, too. They have this sealant on the track that's meant to keep the water out (I laugh and I laugh) but all it really does is make it nigh impossible to zip up. You will tug. You will pull. You will unzip and rezip and that thing will refuse to do anything other than stubbornly linger at the bottom of your jacket for another ten attempts as your clothes get soaked in the rain. (Meanwhile, I should mention that my friend bought a Patagonia jacket and had zero problems the entire time. She loved it, and that's what I WOULD buy to replace this...if I hadn't blasted through $200 that I'll never see again.) Do not give this company your money. This jacket does look cute and slimming and is definitely light enough to be ultra-portable, but it will not hold up under actual use. Again--I should stress that I didn't do anything to merit the fabric tearing on day one. My backpacking backpack has no sharp edges; I was around nothing overly sharp and I didn't bumble around with my arms waving like an idiot. It's just crappy fabric. But even beyond that tear, the fully protected bits didn't manage to keep me dry. So what's the point? I'd love a full refund or a brand new (different) jacket, but I don't expect one after wearing it for two weeks. Save yourself my frustration and avoid this purchase at all costs. I'll try to post this review in as many places as I can think of to warn people about my experience.

Not what I was looking for. I wanted a dressier trench coat and this is more of an outdoors /casual rain jacket. I did like the longer length a lot. Seems to run narrow for my large bust and hips.

Lightweight, tailored lines with a longer back. Completely waterproof and compacts down into a small travel size with no wrinkles. I;m 5'6" and love the XS fits great with a light layer under.

I am 114lbs and 5'6". The XS fits very well with a nice tailored waist. There is enough room for a thin fleece to wear underneath. I preferred this jacket to The North Face Laney Trench. This coat is very packable compared to the Laney (Laney was nice but much more bulky-not a bad thing just not what I wanted).

Wanted a non-dark, more tailored cut and 100% waterproof rain jacket. This fit the bill! Material is exceptionally light. Granite color is a light blue-grey. Because material is so thin, whatever you're wearing underneath will show through including patterns, logos, etc. Appreciate the longer back. Taped seams and other details seem well constructed. Very pleased!

This is a fabulous raincoat! I have been looking for a raincoat for years and have finally found the perfect coat. It's cut beautifully, made out of an amazing waterproof AND breathable material, looks feminine and is affordable. I bought this coat for April showers and a trip to Copenhagen. It's so lightweight and non-bulky that it will pack and travel easily. Very happy with my purchase.

After recently getting thoroughly soaked to the bone at an Open Air concert in Europe, it was painfully obvious to me that a poncho would never serve as well as this raincoat. I love that it breathes and is lightweight and packable. I am confident this jacket will keep me dry when encountering inclement weather on my travel adventures.
