My 70 year old arthritic feet love the Merrell footbed and that is all I usually wear. But I am going on a 2 week trip to the countryside in France. Not only lots of walking on uneven terrain but--looking at the weather--lots of rain. Did not want a heavy unattractive hiking shoe for my size 10.5 feet. Never wore Ahnu before, but thought I would try out their Montara Breeze and Sugarpine. The Sugarpine came up higher around my ankle and seemed stiffer although it would be perfect for some situations--just more sturdy and protective for real hiking I would say. But the Montara Breeze is perfect. So comfortable right out of the box. Flexible. Lightweight. But definitely designed to tackle uneven terrain and water. So I will take these and a pair of Merrells from the Connect Series and I think I am covered. Thank you Zappos.

This is a 'new' model, a combo of Montara II all nubuck & the Sugarpine both waterproof, it's a smidgen lighter in weight & appearance. I've had 3 pair of Sugarpine WP & 2 pair Montara II for walking. For me this is the perfect choice for very troublesome feet issues. Due to my specific issues I use Sole inserts recommended by my podiatrist, well worth cost compared to surgery or inactivity. With this style of Ahnu the sole doesn't flex much, the all mesh style flexes which runners probably like. The only other brand I can wear is Alegria with rigid sole & great arch support. The black look good with my black travel pants, all purpose for dress-up or jeans or cropped pants. They don't look like the typical 'athletic' or running shoe I dislike & really sets one up as tourist with no fashion sense. Traveling many years to the UK, walking in all terrains, city to muddy tracks, this is the best looking, feeling footwear. Love this shoe!

These shoes are really comfortable - like sneakers with a Vibram sole. The toe area is wide, which I appreciate, and the material is sturdy but soft.

I bought these because of the wide toe box to help with Morton's neuroma and I wear them with an orthotic over the insert. Two weeks in, no problems. The shoes run a bit large for my size 10.

These shoes are everything if not more than I expected! lightweight, comfortable and stylish. I wanted a shoe that I could travel with and that would be able to go anywhere from city streets to hilltops!

Other than the toe box being a bit tight and the heel box being very loose, these were really comfortable shoes. I'm sorry they didn't work out for me.

Love, love, love this shoe! It is so comfortable for a great long distance walking shoe. I conforms to your foot right away and is comfortable. I have a heal spur that gives me fits at times, but not in this shoe. It feels very much like wearing a hiking book in a tennis shoe. Very nice leather upper as well.

Fit Great - hiked 10 miles straight out of the box. I have other Ahnu shoes so was very confident of the fit.

This shoe feels as good as my older pair of Montara boots. Yes, the boots that I have indicated I would like to be buried in--that comfortable! Very structured shoe with a strong arch support. Also, Love Love Zappos

I have been looking for months for a stylish, waterproof, walking shoes for a trip to the British Isles. I read that rain can be heavy at times, the area is hilly and we would be doing lots of walking. I didn't want a pair of clunky hikers and these were surprisingly sleek and light - even more so than in the picture. As others have mentioned, the toe bed is roomy and the bottom has excellent support. From the top and sides the shoe has a sleeker European style which I love. I am so excited to have found my travel shoes!

This shoe fits my foot perfectly (long, medium high arch). I've worn it walking in cities and it's great and it works well on hikes as well (tho I'm using the high-top version for that as well).

I am very pleased with these shoes! I have small feet but high arches which makes shoe buying a challenge. I wanted something for my next trip to europe where I would be doing a LOT of walking over rough surfaces. I was amazed to discover that these fit perfectly and comfortable right out of the box. Plenty of room in the toe box and over my arch- yet they hug my heel and don't slip. Soft inside yet sturdy outside. I haven't tested them out as far as the waterproof claim.

These felt comfortable right out of the box with very good support. They were also wide enough for my slightly wide foot but not too wide. I have worn them around the house for hours but not for a hike yet.

Great, comfortable all day long, but not water proof at all. I walked through grass with morning dew and my feet were soaked.

Had to return these, they were much too big and too wide. I didn't try a smaller size, because they didn't seem like they would fit my feet well. I was looking for a black work shoe, the style is nice and they seemed like a good quality shoe.

I don't disagree with any of the reviews, but none of them referred to bunion issues, which I have. Earlier I bought the tan Saucony Progrid Integrity in the regular width and found it has more toe room and width across the bunion area without being loose in the heel. This Ahnu shoe is very nice looking and neat, but inadequate for me in the bunion area, plus loose in the heel. So I think I'll return these and buy the black Saucony.

Although I love the look of this shoe I found that they are not that comfortable. I generally wear a size 7 and these seem a little big even though the length seems to be o.k. I added foam insoles and stick on pads in the heel area. They still slip in the heel area and are uncomfortable. I would returned them but have worn them a few times outside. If I could return them I would. I bought some Skechers in addition (which I hadn't planned on) and will wear those on my upcoming vacation. When I return I'll still wear the Ahnu Montara Breeze around town and see if they feel more comfortable. So sad because I love their look.

Very nice shoe to add an orthotic too. Without it, there's not enough arch support. I had to send them back since they felt too wide for my narrow to medium feet. The length on the 5.5 was perfect, but there's just too much extra room in the front. Wearing a thicker sock helps somewhat; however, I want these lightweight walking shoes for a summer trip to Europe. Therefore, I would like to wear thin socks. Nice looking with great soles though. I'll try another style of Ahnu, hoping they're all not so wide.

Very comfortable but it seems like you would have to stick to pavement and would not be good for long hikes in the woods.

Gorgeous shoes but TOO NARROW!
When are shoe companies like Ahnu and Keen going to wake up and realize that we adventure types come in all sizes.
Also, my shoes arrived in a BAG not a box. Zappos claims they do not ship shoes out in boxes. So now I am own my own to find a box to return these. Definitely not the best experience I have ever had with Zappos -- perhaps just a glitch.

The left shoe had something that was not smooth, maybe bunched material at the point where the tongue of the shoe is sown into the body. It would have been impossible to walk comfortably. The right shoe was fine. I'm thinking there was a flaw in the manufacturing. Otherwise, I believe the pair would have been comfortable. They are sort of a matte black which would make them versatile to wear while traveling and seemed to have enough support.

Extremely comfortable shoe but the style was more for mature women on a tour of cobblestone streets rather than the muddy hike I planned.

Wasn't too crazy about the look of these but I'm looking for comfort so I figured I'd give them a try. I liked them even less in person. Very orthopedic looking. The seem to run long and although they felt fine on my toes the folded in half at the top when I took a step. That started to get uncomfortable fast. The bottom did feel well cushioned and supported but they just weren't a good fit for me overall.
