I'm 5'9 and usually wear size 4 (or 27) bottoms. I spend a lot of time looking for shorts that are not too short. I found them! I now own these in size 2 and size 4. It really depends how you like your shorts to fit. There's a drawstring so that helps keep them right where you like. When in doubt, order both sizes and return one because zappos has the easiest return process!

These shorts are the first Prana item I've purchased, so I can't comment on sizing based on their other bottoms. I bought the size 6 and 8 in Moonrock color to see which size would fit best. I found that they run true to size and the sizing chart is spot on. I like my shorts a little bit on the looser side, and size SIX are a perfect fit. I usually have a hard time finding bottoms that fit both my thinner thighs and bubble butt, but the Vinia give plenty of room for my rear, and the fabric around my thighs doesn't billow out! I can't stand bottoms that cut into my sides or suction to my butt, and these fit the bill. They're light and flowy, sit low on the waist and are a looser fit without being baggy. I immediately exchanged the size 8 for another size 6 in red. For reference, I am 5'7", 128 pounds, 21.5" upper thigh at the biggest spot, 38" hips, athletic build with wide hip structure.

I am 5'2 and about 125 pounds so I ordered size 6. I wore them around the house for one hour. They stretched out so much I did not like them. I returned them for a size 4. I am keeping the size 4 but I still had to alter them because they stretch out so much. I just really liked the color and length.
