I'm on my second Atom SL. This is my favorite jacket. I live on NorCal so winter is mild and this jacket is perfect for most days. Pair with a quality wool base for skiing Tahoe on a bluebird. Cover with a Gore-Tex hard shell to stand up to a Sierra storm. Only complaint the outer fabric is susceptible to fraying from abrasion against an outer layer under pressure points like pack straps or elastic cuffs.

This is my absolute favourite Arc'teryx jacket for hiking!! It's the perfect protection from wind and light rain on the mountain tops! I don't over heat in this and it's perfect for under my shell on heavy rain days!

the lightest insulation is perfect for those just barely cool morning walks in Pennsylvania right now.

A freind mentioned that this was her go-to jacket and I had to take advantage of a sale. I am thrilled I did. It has quickly become my daily jacket. I live in Wyoming, where winters get cold. I am completely comfortable wearing just this over a long sleeve. I also love that it is so packable. I tend to wear it when I start any activity, and then can easily stuff it in my backpack if I get warm. I am 5'7" and 168 pounds. I got a large and it fits perfectly.

My go to jacket when hiking, light and compact keeps me warm when paired with a wool long sleeve T on most Winter days. I've worn all Winter even on days in the low 20's. Paired with a Cerium LT Hoodie on colder days and I'm usually too warm.

Fits perfectly - in the arms, the waist, the shoulders, the hips. Like it was made for me. The stretchy fabric is awesome because it gives room for layers (can fit a fleece+ baselayer under) but with just a baselayer it doesn't look loose/baggy. I'm 5'7, 125 lbs. XS according to size charts and wouldn't size up. Only thing, I have the "Wonderland" colour. I thought it would be more vibrant from the pics online but it's more of a dusty berry colour. I actually like the colour even better than how it looks online though. I prefer more muted colours. (See pic for a better idea) Super warm for the fact that it packs to almost nothing. Does get wrinkly easily though!

I've had the Atom SL for nearly a year. I live in Nashville, TN where winters are mild. The SL hoody is more versatile than a vest for this climate. It can handle light rain and is packable. I have nine Arc'teryx jackets, which all play a role. This SL is a frequent go to jacket. It will be in the backpack on my next Camino de Santiago.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and haven't worn it yet but I have one in another colour. I like it so much that I wanted a back in a fun colour. I take this on cooler mornings/evening when paddle boarding and hiking on days with a bit of wind. Moves great in both activities and just a great light weight warm weather jacket.

I have used this once on a run - 1 degree Celsius, moderate wind and intermittent light rain. It was as good as all the previous reviewers said. It is a fairly thick shell so it was reasonably warm (I also wore a running T and a light hoodie). It breathed really well but also was an excellent wind break and had no trouble with the rain. It moved extremely well and I never felt restricted. I also loved the elastic on the end of the sleeves - comfortable but perfect for keeping wind out. The fit is excellent (I am 5'11'' 170 lbs and got a M). It is a little snug at the hips but had good stretch and never felt tight. I am thrilled with this hoody and can't wait to use it in other conditions and for other activities

Love this! Who doesn't love the Atom LT, but this one, the SL, is just as fantastic for those less chilly, less blistery days. Still cuts the wind great. I sized up for a looser fit due to living in a warmer climate. Despite 1 size up, the cut is still so beautiful and flattering. Highly recommend.

This jacket lives up to its expectations. It's very lightweight and packable, moderately windproof and rain resistant and decent breathability for a weather resistant jacket. The proton line is definitely more breathable but less weather resistant. I love the sleeve length and cuff (or lack of) for this jacket. I use this jacket for winter runs and hikes up to about -2c and think I'll be using it a lot as a general spring jacket. Trim flattering fit and is holding up very well so far.

This jacket is superb, the fit is excellent, I am 6'2" and 220 lbs I have size XL. The stretch in the fabric makes it so comfortable to wear you sort of forget you have it on. I received the jacket as a christmas present and have worn it almost every day since christmas. We have had a lot of snow and cold winds in the last 2 weeks 5C to -5C. I wear a long sleeve base and a fleece most of the time but switched the fleece for my Atom LT when it got down to -5C these combinations kept me at just the right temperature. The jacket handles the wind really well, I have been comfortable in 25-30 MPH winds. I have walked in light rain for 2 hours and my fleece underneath remained dry. The jacket breathes very welI and is so comfortable when pushing hard uphill. I would recommend the Gamma LT for any type of outdoor activity, I absolutely love mine and can honestly say it's my favourite jacket.

This jacket fits the perfect middle ground between windbreaker and midweight puffy. It has reasonable water repellency and wind protection for not being a hard shell. The insulation is light enough to really work/climb with it on but not sweat. Great mid layer for high output activities where you need just a little more than a base layer.

I recently managed to get my hands on a newer version of this jacket, with my last one being from around 2014. Lovely fabric. The Wee Burly material feels very durable and I love the matte look it has. I went for a size large in black. The medium felt a little too restrictive over my Cerium LT Hoody. The large had ample room and cinches in at the bottom. My only criticism is I'd prefer the embroidered logo to be white and not the grey colour. It still looks good though. As mentioned, I went for a large. I'm 6ft tall and weigh about 13.5 stone with an athletic build to put size into perspective. I hope this helps someone somewhere along the line as I know it's not always easy to know. In all, another top bit of kit! I pretty much wear it daily and it still looks like I've put it on for the first time!

I've had this jacket for about 3 years and have used it for hiking, climbing and general use. It's a great piece - a little on the large size compared to the MX and longer in the body and arms. Its weight is ideal and with a layer (Cerium Lt) keeps you warm at altitude. Not the most windproof jacket but is fine if you keep moving. The hood works particularly well - it's large because it's helmet compatible - but easy to adjust, as in the picture. I've used it in the spring and summer mainly but also at altitude in the cold and it really is adaptable with plenty of room for layering. Arc'teryx soft shells seem to receive criticism in reviews about water resistance. I have no complaints - providing you apply DWR after every 3 to 4 washes - it sheds well and keeps the wet out in light/medium rain. I've had this jacket about 4 years now and it still looks brand new. It seems to have worn better than my MX despite being lighter material. It takes abuse well and the fabric has just the right amount of stretch. I'm a broad, athletic build (185cm, 95 kg) and brought XL, I felt L would not give enough room to layer.

As lightest jacket in the Arc'teryx Gamma collection, this is a great choice for mobility. It can easily be worn with extra layers for more warmth or thrown over a light base shirt in the summer climbing season. It is versatile, has a great fit, and is an excellent choice as a do-it-all softshell jacket.

I use this piece for mild, mixed forecast cast days with just a chance of a drizzle where warm insulation or a hard shell are not needed. Usually I wear it over a Delta LT and it still surprises me how well this combo breathes. I don't have to peal off the LT shell for short indoor errands. The slightly sturdy fabric (compared to the floppy MX), trim cut and stretch gives it a nice sleek, sharp look and fit. I think this soft shell is underrated and overlooked.

Very versatile, breathable, and stretch. I've been using as a soft shell over less durable items when mountain biking and hiking. It takes hits from tree branches and hard brushes with rock walls without issue. The fits is great for layering or with just a base layer.

Bought this piece after it got recommended to me by a friend that preferred that SL over the LT. As a big fan of the LT, I had to try it out and overall loved this jacket as well. I find it to have to perfect amount of insulation when it is cool but you'll be kind of active and on the move. Having no insulation in the sleeves is a huge game changer and does help to not overheat. The insulation in the torso and the fleece panel on the side helps regulate heat pretty well without having to zip down. The face fabric is as exceptional as any other atom, have not had any issues with it. Find it to be perfect as a casual piece as well, specially on cool summer nights. Overall, like my friend, I greatly recommend this jacket.

I bought this jacket to go between a light windshell like the Squamish hoody and a heavier insulated jacket like the Atom Lt. I have been very happy with the performance of this piece. It has just the right amount of insulation for cool days and breathes very well if you are moving. I have done a few long approaches in it this fall. It has been the perfect layer for crisp morning starts where you want a warm layer but don't want to over heat while you are moving. The fit and ability to move in it is amazing. Climbing in it is a joy, again just a bit warmer than a stand alone windshell and stretchy enough to not be uncomfortable will climbing. It has also been great for casual evening walks this fall.
