I have had this jacket for a number of years, use it as my air travel jacket as I fly weekly. Has been great, packs nicely and its been durable. Recently the lower outer taped seam came loose. Returning the jacket for repair I thought would be simple but its been sitting at border customs now for 8 days, doing what, I can only imagine. Not too pleased with the customer service so far. Will need to go look at newer models since it sounds like they have cheapened and lightened the jacket form other reviews. This would be a shame, since it used to be nearly perfect.

I just went Heli-hiking and loved it. I just wish my phone fit inside the jacket for weather conditions

This jacket is my favorite all-around jacket and it is easy to dress up (relatively) and dress down. The lightweight material is great and still keeps one warm in the elements. Definitely need to buy another upon its release!

Great jacket, material is perfect. However as mentioned by other reviewers, sizing can be an issue. More specifically for me the arms. I have a few large Arc shirts, large Gamma MX hoody and a medium Alpha SL jacket. I tried a large and medium. Medium was too tight in the pits area and upper back and the large's sleeves were too long. Kept the large but need to roll up the sleeves. The sleeve design on the MX was perfect since it kept them from dropping down but this design does not (altough the material is different).
otherwise very functional jacket. Wish I would have waited for the new colours.

Just used it on a 5 hour walk in the snow this weekend. When the wind was really blowing I did layer on a hard shell to stop the wind. That said, I was happy with the range of conditions the soft shell worked with.
The large was too small, so I had to switch to x-large, which is too large for me.

I ordered both a small and medium of the Heron colour. I cant say much about long term usage but at a first impression the material felt very tough. tougher than i was expecting for sure. i wouldn't worry at all about ripping the fabric with regular use.
Unfortunately i am an inbetweener for arctery softshells. i also tried small and medium with the gamma mx jacket but for both the small was too tight in the armpits and while a medium for the armpits and chest was good, there was too much bulk at waist and hips. i had to return them unfortunately. I guess me and arcteryx softshells arnt meant to be! But i wanna help you guys with your sizing. Uploaded photos for reference (im wearing the small). and heres my dimensions. doesn't help much when people say what size they got without stating their dimensions.
- 5 foot 8
- 39.5" chest
- 28.5" waist
- 37" hips
Everything else fit great on the jacket. it was just those tight armpits. I will either have to grow or shrink if i want to wear one of their softshells. I should mention too that i was worried about it being "waist length" rather than "hip length" but it was fine, especially with the drop back hem. I ordered a squamish hoody now as it has a "relaxed fit", and the gamma lt has an "athletic fit". I hope the pics helped someone out there!

Was looking for a lighter alternative to my AtomLT. This is just the right weight for a bit more activity. However, wish it had pit zips, and a bit more room for my aging mid-section. Arms are too long and neck is too big as well. If I wanted to fit an orangutan, perfect

This jacket is like a tough skin to protect your own skin. It adds no warmth and in fact feels cold due to the tough plastic (polyester) used. To be useful is needs to be able to layer with.
The garment is sized for a teenager or an anorexic adult.
If not buying in person, be sure to size up and be prepared of extra long sleeves.

I have a dying 2007 gamma LT--it's been great, I just bought a 2021 gamma LT--a little crispier texture--less casual, but not as hot as the Atom. Anyway, what is going on with the super length sleeves on all of the jackets? I know, I know, when reaching for a rock ledge... But seriously, if one inch of your wrist gets exposed to some wind is the trip really over?

Need I say more? Pros: a comfortable, close fitting soft shell. Great zippers, decent insulation and wind breaking.
Cons: the cuffs require surgery to pull an average hand through. Maybe I should check the serial number and make sure it's not a woman's.

After owning one of these jackets for the last few years i recently was forced to buy a new one (mine was stolen from a bar). The Gamma LT jacket was absolutely great for commuting by bike, for travelling, could be worn on suit pants as well as trail shorts. Never looked out of place. It was my favourite jacket so i immediately replaced with a new identical one. Or that's what i thought. Turns out this jacket has been revised recently.
It's no longer my favourite. Why you ask? The main change is in the fabric - the old jacket was 'burly weave', the new jacket is 'wee burly weave'. A lower weight per sqm but it makes a considerable difference to the jacket.
The lighter fabric doesn't quite fall the same way. Where the older model was a great blend of outdoor and smart casual style, this is now a proper outdoor jacket. It wrinkles a bit, the appearance is less 'polished' for lack of a better word. It makes for a proper 'LT' jacket now, but is no longer the versatile and bombproof blend of a city jacket that can go straight into the weekend climbing trip and back to the airline lounge on Monday morning.
Pros
- the fit is still great, best fitting jacket i own (6'3, 75kg, sz M)
- The pocket on the sleeve has moved to an inside pocket - much better as there was no reason for that sleeve pocket.
- Still a great balance between insulation and breathability, it feels a bit more breathable in the new version
- It is now a proper LT jacket - lightweight and easily compressed into a small parcel
Cons-
- the collar is a tad low and really needs to be worn with a buff or a turtleneck now. also the more pliable fabric now makes it fold in on itself instead of standing proud when zipped up. pretty sure the previous collar was taller
- main zipper really could use a little flap at the top - its scratchy - not like the previous model
- the new fabric is not as burly as before - time will tell what that does to the wear and tear
- the black jacket i got isn't black as much as it is dark charcoal
In conclusion, as far as im concerned the revision made the jacket worse. Maybe AT could make a Gamma AR jacket? The same thing but in the burly double weave material. That would be my perfect jacket again. Maybe even with some elbow and shoulder reinforcements...

First off I am a fan of Arc' and love every product I own from Arc', except this one. I don't dislike but don't love... The fit and look is great I am 5'11" 160lb with a 74" reach (long arms for my height). Durability is fantastic, however let's talk about the elements. Moister resistant, spilled drinks water, etc. no problem, foggy day with very light misty rain check & rain only from your car to your house. 5-10 minutes in light to moderate rain jacket starts to hold water & past 10 min your wet. Wind I was able to get protection up to about 8mph anything above seeps through. I got caught in a moderate rain with some wind and was a bit chilly until the jacket became saturated and an unexpected thermal barrier was formed and better wind protection was achieved. I did not buy this jacket expecting it to perform like my Alpha SV hardshell, however I did expect the resistant factor to be a bit better about15- 20% better then it is. Hindsight 20/20 says I should have gone with the Beta LT hybrid jacket. This one for me is more like active/outdoor fashion wear with a high level of durability. I will try reapplying the DWR treatment in hopes it will Perform a bit better.

The area under the armpits is too tight. I have several jackets from a few years ago without this issue, but the Gamma LT I ordered in 2021/2022 feels uncomfortable with any movement; the fabric bunches up and chafes the armpit area. The only comfortable position is with elbows flared out when my hands are in the pockets. In any other position, I am conscious of the jacket rubbing or even applying slight pressure without movement. Wearing a layer underneath would be out of the question. Yes, the sleeves were a tad long and tight at the cuff, but not a dealbreaker. Just the armpit issue made it not work for me. I'm about average / athletic build at 5'10" and 160lb wearing size medium.

This is a very attractive jacket, but it has some flaws that ruin it for me. I bought it to replace my 10-year-old Gamma AR. That thing was AWESOME and I wish this was too!
It's a Nice jacket. I generally wear a Medium in Arcteryx. This is a Medium, but it is longer in the back and sleeves by several inches than my other medium Arc jackets. I'm 5'8" and 170lb, the small is too small around the chest, and the medium is just long and baggy.
The zippers are buttery smooth and silent. I love them
The Softshell is durable and quiet, it doesn't make any scratching or crunching noises, which is great. Water repellency is good, and breathability is excellent.
The jacket is unlined. This is the weird part for me. I usually wear a soft shell when its Autumn or Early Winter. I have to layer under this to stay warm - so I often just wear one of my soft shells with a thin fleece lining, or I just wear a fleece with a Hard Shell. They should put a thin fleece lining in this, because it would not make the jacket too "hot" given how breathable the face fabric is.
Consequently, this is a jacket I end up wearing for only a few weeks out of the year. This makes me question the utility versus the dollar paid for the jacket. I got the jacket at a steep discount, and for the retail price I'd have just flat out returned it. Overall, I feel it is not worth it versus the Gamma MX, or my trusty old Gamma AR. It just seems to have too narrow of a useful window where I live (Ohio).

I had a gamma LT years ago and it was a great jacket. So versatile. The new one is not lined with micro fleece and therefore lacks the warmth of the older jacket. Sadly, I'm sending it back. It literally is a shell of what this jacket used to be.

Die rmel sind so eng, da ich meine Hand nur mit Mhe durchwrgen kann.
Der Schnitt insgesamt ist eher fr Skispringer geschaffen.
Schade, da ich diese ansonsten gute Jacke nicht tragen kann.
