I typically take an 8.5 but can sometimes need a 9. I took the 9 here, and when I first got them they felt too small and I was a bit worried since sizing up to a 9.5 would have made them too long. That question up there about them breaking in? That's mine lol. I could have waited a few hours and not needed to ask! The reviews that state that they scuff scared me off of these boots for TWO YEARS. In the end, my confidence in Zappos' customer service combined with a complete inability to find something similar that would be as warm, made me take a chance. What I wanted was a boot that could keep my feet warm when outside for awhile, but still look nice at work, or if we went out somewhere half decent for dinner. That's a surprisingly hard combo to find! Anyway, they were uncomfortably tight for about an hour. Then they were decent, and by hour 4 they fit me like a glove. Last night I was outside in them for 2 hours standing still with decent (but not warm and not wool) socks and my feet were fine! By the end I needed to walk around a bit but warmer socks should fix that right up. For walking around, no special socks would be necessary. Yes, you probably have to tie them, but you *could* skip that and just zip. I don't understand the people here acting like tying your shoes takes a half hour. Anyway, if they scuff horribly I will edit my review. I have one scratch right now but it's not too bad and I think it may have arrived that way. I have to say, I've never been a fan of Uggs but I am impressed!

I don't have wide feet but these were really tight around the toes, I put boot stretchers in them for two days and now they're perfect. I bought these as another review said they were great on their rheumatoid arthritis feet, I also have RA and shopping for shoes is pretty impossible. They're nice and warm, I'm in Colorado and it's average 30 degrees right now with plenty of snow and slush. I walked over a mile in 14° weather before Thanksgiving, spent an hour outside, and my feet weren't any colder than they should have been. Others have commented that there's only insulation on the bottom, but that's not true; there's thinsulate throughout the boot. My feet are real susceptible to the cold and I have no issues at all.

I LOVE these--but found them a bit too big and the arch low. I tried to use my Dansko inserts but they did not help much. If the foot bed was removable I may have had more options. I have a back injury and must have the right amount of cushioning and support--I also found the outsole a bit too mushy. But if I could have used another insole the problem may have been solved. I kept these wrapped in the box for two weeks just thinking about how I could get them to work. The style is great--the leather soft and they seem very well made. They may feel snug in the front but they have to, otherwise when the leather stretches you won't be swimming in them. I highly recommend these. With the box I received there is also an extra pair of shoe laces--red!--so you can switch the laces for a different look--how great is that? Heartbroken to return--hope others fare better. Try them--if they fit comfortably, you will keep them!

These are cute boots. However, I could barely get my foot into them. I have regular/slightly narrow feet, but a high instep and the zipper opening on the side just didn't open enough to slide my foot in very easily. Once on, they were too tight over my instep. If I were keeping them, I probably could have cut the fabric piece that prevented the zipper from opening all the way, and I probably could have had the shoe store stretch them out. But, I also ordered some Ugg Ashbury boots, and those fit better, so I kept those and returned these. Thank you Zappos for your amazing return policy.
