Do NOT buy these shoes unless you only run on pavement. If you run on trails...or even just walk through a park, the shoes accumulate mud/dirt and cleaning them is a major hassle. First time I have been disappointed in a Brooks shoe. (And the tongue on the shoe is super stiff and uncomfortable!)

This shoe has a major flaw: the tongue has a sharp edge that digs into your ankle. I have worn this model for years, but do not buy this one

listen to all reviews - the tongue sucks! it really does hit you in the ankle and feels like it is going to cut into your leg.

I loved the Brooks Pure Connect line, and wore those for the past 5+ years. I was bummed they got rid of that line, but when I heard that this was the next best thing, I went for it. It is nothing like the old ones! These shoes were extremely uncomfortable for me; they felt too narrow (and I do not have particularly wide feet), made my big toes go numb and rubbed blisters. I thought I just ordered a size too small at first, but after exchanging them for a larger size, experienced the same issues.

I've only worn Pure Flow for years. Every version is smaller and more uncomfortable. I typically wear 7/7.5. I tried 8 and 8.5 in these and still can't wear them! I had blisters on my heels and toes, and from the sharp tongue after 10 minutes. Awful awful awful! It's time to find a new brand.

Brooks what have you done to your shoes? I ordered half a size up like other reviewers suggested, but the toe box area was still too tight! So disappointed.

The Brooks Pureflow are great shoes. Have had a few difference pairs of these shoes, but the 5 is very disappointing. The shoes is so uncomfortable that I had to return the shoes. Tried walking in them several times, they hurt me feet so much I had to cut my walks short. I hope Brooks puts out a better shoe when 6 comes out because these are great walking shoes.

Zappos is awesome, but this shoe is NOT. I am so sad about it because I have LOVED my Brooks Pureflow 2, 3 and 4. Like many other reviewers, I found these WAY too tight and narrow. I bought the same size and it felt completely different. There was no way I could wear them. The material was very stiff and immediately started chafing my skin. I don't know why Brooks had to change these up so much! I suppose if more people had let them know how much they loved Brooks PureFlow 2,3,4 etc, they would have left well enough alone. I returned mine and went to a running store to find a new shoe to love. Ironically, I ended up purchasing the Brooks Launch, so consider that an option if you loved earlier editions of the Brooks PureFlow!

This would be my 4th pair of Brooks Pure Flows. I think I had the 2, 3, and 4. This 5 pair fits NOTHING like the others. It's tight and feels stiff. Returned the shoes. Looking for a pair of PureFlow 4's.

No! Brooks! How could you?! I've loved and worn out three pairs of previous PureFlow versions. I'm sad to say the bad reviews for this one are right. This version is much narrower and shorter. After 2 hours (!) I was limping, and I don't think sizing up will help or I'd do it. They're definitely good looking shoes, but they're mean! If you decide to try, go up at least another 1/2 size. These are going back! Thanks Zappos!

These shoes draw blood! I have worn previous versions of the PureFlow and loved them, but the 5 is a let down. The shoe feels less flexible and more stiff when running (something I noticed on the new Launch as well, so maybe Brooks has a new formula they are using). The bigger issue for me is the tongue. The edge of the tongue is quite stiff and sharp. On my first run, the tongues cut through the skin they rubbed against. To be clear, this wasn't just a little irritation on the surface of the skin; these shoes drew blood within 4 miles. Ouch! Even though I have already worn these outside, Zappos customer service was incredibly helpful and willing to refund/exchange the shoe.

I have a pair of Brooks PureFlow 3 which are the best running/walking shoes I've ever had; these are miserable on my feet. I might try the 4's or a different Pure line but these will definitely not do.

I have loved Brooks shoes for the past several years, but these were awful. The shape is nothing like previous Pure models. It is wide and round in the toe box which makes them feel clumsy. They are also extremely stiff. They would have been terrible to run in. They are on their way back!

I've run in Pure Flows since the 2. Loved every single one. I purchased these and was so excited to receive them. Love how they look but the feel is horrible! First off, the toe box is so tight I could only stand 1 mile in them. I always order the same size and these were a no go in my usual size. I have narrow feet so don't even think a size up would work. Also the tongue! It hits right at your ankle and is extremely sharp. It cuts right into your skin. I had a blister on my right foot after 1 mile. They are going back.

I have been running in Brooks for years. Since the Pure Project line has been out I've worn the cadence and flow. But I have to say these are by far the WORST Brooks shoe ever put out. Extremely narrow, no space in the toe box and not to mention the tongue is hard. Disappointed in Brooks!

The Pureflow 5s are the most uncomfortable athletic shoes that I have purchased. They run very small to begin with and even if you go up half to a full size, there is just something not right about these. I had to remove them during a workout - uncomfortable on toes, tongue area and heel area.
