I ordered the extra large size (which refers to shoe size and size in the foot) but for a sock that is supposed to go over the calf, these are extremely narrow in the calf. I have average sized calves and these feel like they were made way too small at the very top of the sock. Very poor design, especially for ordering the extra large size.

Great socks... I thought I'd have to settle for over-the-calf dress socks (which tend to be pricey). I am in several work settings throughout every week where you are sitting with others but your legs aren't under a table. I was becoming increasingly aware with how unkempt the bare leg between the pants and the sock looks. These are super comfy and wearable on those long days. I honestly think I can get away with them as a dress sock. I bought one double pair set to try them out and, before I even broke open the second pair, I went back on Zoots and ordered several more sets AND several white ones as well for the casual sneaker khaki and/or jeans days.
