After reading multiple reviews online (elsewhere) claiming these shoes were made to fit long, narrow feet, I was super excited to try them. However, they are not by any means narrow -- even with the insert. With the included inserts they were certainly low volume (which I didn't need), but they were still much too wide for me across the heel and arch area. Other than that, they're awesome shoes! I'd recommend them if you have normal or low-volume feet, but not if your feet are legitimately narrow.

This is a wonderful light hike shoe for women with feet that run to the narrow end of the spectrum. It comes with two sets of insoles, one of which helps take up additional volume should you need/want it, and the lacing adjustments run down to the fore foot area to allow for even more fine tuning. Many other shoes/hikers get too wide in the toe box for me (size 10.5 or 11). I like the big toe area bumper for toe protection on the rocky trails I hike here in Colorado. Nice one piece tongue has cushioning. Pretty stiff sole. Not a running shoe type hiker. Good grippy sole deals with wet, rocky and steep scree hikes well. My only complaint is that Salewa stops manufacturing half sizes at size 10, and they should offer women's size 12.

This is a cool looking shoe, I'll give it that. I returned it and kept the Keen Targhee EXP because I liked the more open "square" toe box of the Keen. I don't have a wide foot but I felt that the toe "slant" on the front of the shoe would really bother the outside of my big toe. The shoe is kind of 'pointy'. Otherwise, it's a great looking shoe. It's a little bulky around the ankles but I also felt like it would give good support. I am returning these and keeping the Keens.

The straps broke on the item twice for me, so I think they are more for children than adults. Zappos totally took care of it for me, but, I would not recommend.

This was my first time trying on Salewa hikers. Of all the brands, I recognized that these shoes were a "good" fit" for my a bit narrow foot. They worked well, but not as comfy as I needed for hiking the Appalachian Trail. While I returned this shoe, I knew that Salewa will be my brand of choice.
