I have worn New Balance 623 shoes for many years, and they have fit my narrow-heeled, high-arched feet adequately, with the assistance of an orthodic for the arch. My recent order of 623v3 pair was a disappointment. There seem to be a number of changes from my prior 623 shoes. The leather is not supple, the mesh is rough, the insole provided gives less support, there is much less padding in both the tongue (which bunches up more easily) and around the ankle, and the additional lace holes are positioned differently. The result for me is that even with my own orthotics, in order to prevent my narrow heel from riding up and down, I have to lace the shoes differently, and pull them very tight - so tight that they then hurt the top of my foot on the bone above the arch and also force the foot to be pressed down on the arch.

I love-love-love Zappos... so fun to browse, easy to order, super fast delivery and no shipping charges, even on the return, which is super simple to do... but these NB 623's were another story. I found the shoe's appearance to be a bit big and clunky (I felt really clumsy in them), although it wasn't wide enough for my foot even in the double E width. I wear a 7 or 7-1/2 and ordered both in the EE, but both went back. I thought the padding was quite plush and comfy along the front (tongue), but after 6 hours walking around the house in the sz. 7's, the bottoms of my feet were hurting all over and also at the base of my pinkie toe, where I have a small (barely visable) but sensitive bunionette. The 7-1/2's were so long, I thought I might trip on them, even though I usually buy 7-1/2 mediums at stores with no problem in length, so these definitely run long. I had also tried the Saucony Progrid Integrity and the New Balance 577 with Hook-n-Loop Closure in this order, in the same two sizes (all EE width), but all went back. Back to the drawing board for me! Fila seems to be the only brand that works on my wide and sensitive foot, and select models only... Good luck, everybody and hope this helps! (-:

I was very disappointed in these. They have no arch support. What kind of athletic shoe has no arch support? These are going back.

Dissappointed in New Balance Quality and Quality Control. I wear new balance, so I was suprised. Left shoes toebox was misshapen bulbous like a clown shoe, way too much room, the right shoes toebox was off center, but much smaller mis-shapen and pushed my big toe over to the right Also in the right shoe toebox a large buldge of overlapped seemed material that was digging into my foot. Overall less padding than previous versions, stiffer cheaper leather material...less build quality. Sad to see that. I returned them.

The sneaker is a little too flat. They made my back ache and my feet were throbbing after a 12 hour shift. The upper part around the front of the inner ankle rubbed badly on my ankle and I ended up having a bruised and swollen right ankle.

Was expecting more support and the big problem was feeling the stitching inside the outer shoe, and overall felt like a 40-$50 shoe so I was dissatisfied, and I always get a 13D but this style a little smaller.

As a long time customer of NB, I am very disappointed in these. I bought them in June, started wearing them in July, and they were fine at first. Suddenly, at the beginning of August, something felt different and wrong. It's as if something inside, just ahead of the heels, has given out. First one foot, then the other a few days later, and the cut-out on the sole now acts like a suction cup on smooth surfaces! My feet feel lower at the heel, my feet hurt after a couple of hours, and sometimes my back aches. Yet, there is no visible wear on the outsole. A waste of money that I could barely afford.

I have been buying and wearing New Balance shoes in a size 10 wide for over ten years with a great fit. Not these shoes. After just two short wearings (less than 2 hours) these shoes are too big and fit sloppy. Very disappointed. I wish I would have returned them as they are too sloppy on my feet and not comfortable to wear.

Over the past 8 years I have owned 4 pairs of these. They are comfortable, long lasting and good looking. I wear them daily. I will continue to own a pair of these as long as the quality remains high.

These are great shoes with a few caveats: they are more of a casual shoe to be worn with jeans or khakis; the cushioning is not suitable for running and I would not wear them to train or work out in. Great for walking around just not so great for hard core working out. Fit true to size.

Hold up well, comfortable, water resistance is nice for like wet grass, etc.

I've been a New Balance (exclusive) customer for more then 21 years. why? because the quality is second to none. Ya, they cost a little more but you are getting a good solid product. This is one of my favorites on the long 7-10 miles walks I take your feet will thank you.

New Balance Cross Trainers are fantastic. I've had several generations of them. They are among very few shoes of any kind that come in wide widths that accommodate my wide feet, and now my bunions! The insole is removable for replacement with an insole of your preference or orthotics. I prefer the Cross Trainers to New Balance Walking Shoes which I feel are too stiff. The Cross Trainers give good support while allowing your feet to flex more normally. I have always had fast service from Zappos and often find shoe styles that are hard to locate elsewhere.

I've bought these shoes before and loved them. These new ones have next to no cushion insole in them. I ended up taking the insole out of an old pair I had so I could wear them.

I don’t wear this shoe very often. Even though it’s the size I normally wear, it just doesn’t feel comfortable in the toe box. After wearing them all day while riding public transit back and forth, I can’t wait to come home and take them off.

I have long been a fan of NB shoes with my wide foot. But am disappointed in this one. Not at all comfortable which is unlike NB shoes as they had been comfy from the first fitting. Seems like the last comfortable NB was an 847 but sadly those are not available. Thankfully Zappos has the awesome return policy!

These New Balance sneakers are not orthotic friendly. I have not had any issues in a very long time with New Balance's sneakers. The ole familiar squeaking with each step I take, came back to me, when I put them on. I long forgotten that squeak until I began walking in these shoes. Shoe companies need to make orthotic friendly, non-squeaking shoes for so many of us who must wear orthotic supports. Also, very odd but the shoe narrows towards the toes. So anyone with corns and bunions I would rethink about purchasing these sneakers. Other than these two issues the shoe is pretty good. You could always purchase them and see for yourselves.

This shoe was wide enough but in making it wider, NB added so much bulk to the shoe that it was really unwieldly. Felt like I was wearing boats on my feet.

These seemed too big and are very stiff. They felt clumsy but I wore them on the tennis court so unfortunately I cannot return them.
New Balance shoes are one of the very few companies that have extra wide shoes. I will try a soft top shoe next time.
