Customer Reviews New Balance 840v3

Excellent shoe that fits my custom orthotics needed for flat feet. Plenty of room in the toe box and smooth interior cushion collar and tongue. I'm keeping an eye out for another pair in a different color.

I tried on all cushioning shoes in my size (9 4w) in the NB store in Princeton; found these and 940. These are greatly cushioned and have held up to lots of wear since purchased in 8/17. together with my orthotics, I am able to walk more w/o discomfort (due to metatarsalgia, high arch. And the wide toe box is a BIG help too, comfort wise.

I used to have constant plantar fasciitis. I walk 3 miles every morning and have not had any pain since I donned my first pair several years ago. I do wish they would go on sale every once in a while.

Right out of the box I liked these shoes. They seemed to have a better fit and overall finish than v2. I used them on a treadmill a couple of times at 3.5-4 MPH and 5% elevation. on both the 10 2E and 9.5 2E the crease over my left forefoot pressed very uncomfortably into my pinky toe. I have had to return both pairs. It seems that the overall volume of the tor box has been reduced in the v3. Now unfortunately, my search to acquire a new pair of shoes before my v2's begin to fade continues.

they fit good, but on the inside of foot it feels like something extra there like a stability shoe but they're neutral

fits good except feels like a stability shoe. something makes feet hurt on inside of foot.

I have trouble finding shoes that fit. It is good to know that you carry a variety of choices.

I have bad feet and need cushion for my feet. I find the New Balance "Abzorb" soles make my feet as happy as they can be.

In the past I was able to order just about any New Balance shoe. However, the last two pairs of New Balance shoes were larger and wider than in the past and did not fit me. I went to a New Balance retail store and they told me about another New Balance shoe that was built on a narrow last and I ordered it. I will probably continue to go to the retail store in order to find New Balance shoes that fit me. The quality of this shoe is fine. It did not fit me.

This is my first pair of 840. I typically run in 1080s, but those have gotten very expensive. The 840s are stiff, but seems to be a bit more versatle, wider, and there is a bit fore support for trail running. I plan on buying another pair.

Nice shoe. Good cushioning. Somewhat tight fit if using New Balance cushion insole.

A great all-around shoe. It runs a bit wide in the toe box which is good. I liked my first pair so much I ordered a second pair. But there is a design problem that could be easily fixed by NB and can be corrected by you. Unlike other NB shoes, this model has an elastic band at the end of the tongue that connects the tongue with the shoe. Even if you stretch the tongue when putting them on within just a few minutes of movement the tongue bunches up over the top were your toes begin. Uncomfortable. The fix: After you finish lacing to the second loop eyelet from the top take the laces and run them through the mid-tongue lace loop and then run them up through the very last loop eyelets at the top of the shoe. This will keep the tongue stretched and in place. And the laces are long enought on this model to allow this extra lacing. So I ask: Why couldn't NB design the tongue of the shoe like the new 990V4? It's got the tongue lace loop at the very top of the tongue which would prevent this bunching problem. I hope NB is reading this advice. Anyway, the 840s are great shoes. Hope this advice helps.

Normally I love the 840 brand, but this version was a tad frustrating for me. I wear a 7 4E and the toe box felt tighter than previous models, so I returned the shoe. I'm now looking at other models for a replacement

This show seems to be a little wider in the grey/blue than the same model in the black/white.
