Beautiful boots!
These boots are as pretty as I had hoped, although I wish they were an inch taller on my calf. It took some work to get them over my instep, but once on, they fit my foot nicely. My biggest problem is that they slip in the heel--my socks are inched down and I am worried about blisters. The leather is gorgeous and the style timeless. I'm crossing my fingers.

Nice boot, tough to get in to -
Beautiful boot, wish the heel were higher, and really hard to get your foot into it. Once on, comfortable and nice looking.

Tight Fit -
These are really cute - but they take some effort to get on. Very difficult to get over my instep. Once they were on (took about 5 minutes) they felt fine. I am assuming they will wear in a bit and be easier to get on and off. I normally wear a 6.5, but I ordered them in a 7 as per usual for Frye's. They slip in the heel and rubbed a bit, but I think they will break in nicely. Not as comfortable as the Frye Campus...but really cute.

These are such cute boots and it took me several tries to find the right size. In closed toe/heel shoes I usually wear a size 8. In these it took a size 7½. Still after wearing them around in the house for a bit I decided they just are lacking too much in the comfort factor. The boot leather is very stiff in the shoe/toe area and was uncomfortably tight across the ball of my foot. Yet the heel of the boot was extremely loose to the point of almost sloppy. Admittedly, I do have narrow heels, that said there also is basically no cushioning or arch support in the footbed. So as much as I wanted them to work they will have to go back.

I still have not been able to get the right boot on my foot! I have this same boot in the dark brown and the shaft is a little more rigid so I can pull it on. But the shaft on this color is very loose almost like a sock and I cannot push my foot through it! Still trying though and a cobbler is stretching the instep for me. I might even try to have a zipper put in. I do love how they look!

When I first bought these boots I had no children. These boots were super comfie and I could wear them all day. Two children later, I regret not listening to anyone about maintaining my arch support. The shape of my foot changed! I cannot wear these boots anymore. It is unbearable. There is this irritating seam in the back that is constantly rubbing up against my heel. I HATE these shoes now. Granted, my foot may have gotten bigger? I'm going to get these stretched to see if that will fix anything. If not, I will need to sell them. Such a shame since these were an investment!

While I do like these boots, they are by far the lowest quality of all my Frye boots. The leather scratches and gets scraped really easily, especially on the toes. Instead of getting that nice worn-in patina of my Harness and Melissa Button styles, it seems like the top layer of the leather is being completely scraped off. The leather did stretch easily to accommodate my larger than average calves. After a short break in period, they fit quite comfortably with boot socks. They would be my favorite boots if they just a bit more durable.

A great boot but I am very disappointed because after wearing them less than 10 times, the buckle tab on the side came unstitched and was hanging off the boot. I don't expect this from Frye. Now I'm stuck with having to return the boot to get it repaired. I'm pretty aggravated.

I hemmed and hawed over these boots for a while, and waffled between these and the Engineer 15R. I chose these, probably because of the variety of colors and finishes. I ordered them in the dark brown soft vintage leather in a size 9. I have three other pairs of Frye boots, two in an 8½ and one in a 9. One of the 8½ pairs is a little narrow, the other two fit like a dream, never required breaking in, and despite the tall heels, I can wear them all day. I received the Veronica Slouch today (go Zappos! That was fast!). When I opened the box, I was a little put off to find them kind of wadded up inside. I smoothed them out and tried them on. Like many reviewers have said, it was a slightly aerobic activity to get my feet in them (thank you, plastic bag). I was disappointed to find that they were ridiculously loose on my ankles and calfs and there was significant heel slippage. My husband laughed and said, "What did you expect, they have the word 'slouch' in their name!" Fair enough, I did expect some slouch... but these were downright floppy. And I run, so I do not have skinny calfs. They looked like galoshes! I also did not care for the shape of the toe, although I cannot really explain why. I guess I pictured something a little more substantial. So back in the box they went, and I ordered the Engineer 15R...

These are disappointing. The picture shows silver buckles but when they arrived they were dark brass. I really wanted silver! Threads on inside of foot are rough and uncomfortable. I had to return them.

These are super cute, and fit over my 15" calves (which rarely happens), but the ankle part was really loose. It slipped on my heel so much that it would give me a blister in about five minutes and I was scuffing my heels just walking around the house. So, they are going back, unfortunately.

Cute, comfortable, thought I was going to love them. A little too slouchy. So I was worried about a month or so down the line. And this color was distressed in such a way that it turns my hands dirty black, just in the 2 minutes of putting 1 on and making the adjustments to see if I liked them. I didn't want to risk getting other things dirty. Oh well!

Note Zappos did a great job with this order, my issues pertain to the quality of the boots themselves. I am a long-time loyal Frye customer. I have 3 pairs of woman's Frye boots that I have diligently cared for, (replacing soles when necessary) in exchange for years of long comfortable wear; the Calvary, the Harness and a vintage pair of the Campus. After returning a pair of Martina engineer's for being at least 1 size too small, I ordered these, the Veronica slouch. These were also rather tight in the right foot (I even went up to an 8.5 this time), and the finish is awful. I ordered the black full-grain leather and it looks like the toe boxes were violently distressed with a wire brush. Also the streaking of the dye on the legs seemed like a defect. (I contacted Frye, they suspect so as well). The buckle at the top of the calf was extremely flimsy and a different color than the buckle at the bottom. The leather of the top strap was poorly sewn and beginning to separate, right out of the box. I am undecided about trying again. All of my other Frye's are made in the US, I'm wondering if that is the difference that is causing me such problems-- other people don't seem to be having problems, perhaps I am expecting a different manufacturing standard based on my past purchases. According to Frye The harness, engineer and Calvary styles are part of their 'core' product line, and all manufactured in the US.

I had been eyeing these boots for months until I finally broke down and bought myself a pair. They are the most adorable, all around boots I've found to date and can go with just about any outfit. But everything beyond the appearance of these boots was a bit of a let-down. The rubbing on the heels of these was almost unbearable. I could not wear them for more than 20 minutes at a time at first before I had to take them off. It wasn't the sizing, they fit true to size, it was the firmness and inflexibility of the leather. I almost returned them, but my fondness of their look made me give them a chance and hope that the leather would soften over time. It has been several months now, and multiple uses and blistered heels later, they finally have broken in to the point that I can wear them out and not return home in agony. I still wouldn't call them comfortable, but they fit nicely now and no longer rub at my heels. The other disappointment is that one of the footbeds came loose after two wears. The material gets pulled looser every time I take my boot off, and I will probably be taking it in to get it glued back down soon. Just a bit frustrating to have to do this so soon after buying these, because they should be far more durable for their price. Overall, I wouldn't recommend buying these unless you fancy their look enough to invest the time it takes to break them in.

My girlfriend has been looking at these boots for a while now. She has athletic calves and has trouble finding boots. Finally purchased these and felt that they were too hard to get on and off. Had to return them for the wide calf slouches.

I obsessed over these boots for a while before finally ordering them, but alas -- they had to go back. While the front view was good, they bulge out in the back, making for a strange, awkward line. I am 5'4 with athletic but not huge calves, if that helps. The search continues.

Love the way these look, but they were super uncomfortable. I wore them a dozen times before selling them to someone else. They rubbed blisters on my heals and felt so tight on the top of my foot, I felt claustrophobic. And I have a very thin foot. I own several pairs of Frye boots, but these just didn't work for me.

This is my second pair of Frye's. I also have the Tall Paige. I normally wear a 6 1/2, and bought those in that size and they ended up being too big after being broken. So this style, I was told by a store associate that they would stretch too so I bought a 6. Knowing that they would relax after wearing them I didn't think too much about them being snug. But they blistered my feet so badly after only 2 hours. The length is right, but the heel "cup" is terrible. I've taken them to a shoe cobbler, but if that doesn't work, I've made a very expensive mistake. My advice is that even if you own another pair of Frye's, even in the same style, walk around on carpet for several days before you decide.

I just purchased these boots and they are a beautiful, soft leather, obviously a high quality boot and true to size. However, I am returning them because they seem to make my calves look large even though I have very thin calves. The thick leather is just too bulky for me.

Frye is really suffering as a result of moving their manufacturing to Mexico in both consistency and quality. I have two other pairs of Fryes, made in America. They are delicious boots, gorgeous and comfortable and durable. This new pair is not on par with my others. When they arrived the color was not as expected although the fit was great (a little snug as new boots should be). Thanks to Zappos' great customer service they were quickly swapped for another pair. Unfortunately, the second pair is a half size larger (although supposedly the same size as the first), and came with some sticky discharge similar to tape residue on them. The leather is markedly thinner and does not feel as quality as my other pairs. If they were cheaper I would spin the wheel again and order a 1/2 size smaller hoping they would come out of the box the right size and in like new condition. As it is, I will be searching for other boots to meet the needs my old fave Frye has failed to satisfy. When I invest this much in boots I expect to be wowed, and these boots lack the wow factor of their predecessors.

Love the style of this boot fit is great around the calf, leather is nice but very narrow and I would go 1/2 size up. I'm a true 6 1/2 and these were short. I also have a wide foot therefore had to return them heavy sigh! Ordered the Harness Boot with square toe, received them today and they are great! Ordered the 6 1/2 and they are more roomy not as narrow and I'm happy again!

I have been stalking these boots for about a year and finally bit the bullet and ordered a pair in my usual size 8, although I was worried after reading some reviews that they might be too snug. I am 5'2" and 120 pounds and this boot slipped right on with a thin sock. When walking around in them, I discovered that my heel slips so I'll need to wear a thicker sock, or perhaps even two pairs of socks. I don't want to send them back for a smaller pair because I worry about my toes getting pinched then. Since I tend to get cold feet, wearing thick socks shouldn't be a problem for me. I have slightly athletic sized calves but the 15" calf is plenty big enough for a pair of jeans underneath. The boots look nice, but the overall quality of this boot is really not worth the high price. I've seen many comparable boots for half the price, but again, I'll keep these for the style. Everyone said what great leather these boots were made from, but as someone who works with leather, I can assure you, these are not premium boots...they just have great style and a premium price.

I wanted to like these. Based on reviews you'd think they were the holy grail of boots! Lovely, lovely leather and stitching. Unfortunately they were quite a bit too tall and bulky for my 5'2" 115lb frame. They looked a little like galoshes. Not the look I was going for... I guess I should have read it in the name... slouchy.

I love, love, love these boots! I love the way they smelled when I first opened the box and I couldn't wait to get them on! However, it took a few days and lots of patience to finally wear them. I was so afraid I was going to have to send them back. It is so hard to pull them on. I finally did it and it was still hard the next few times, but they're now starting to stretch out a bit. Love them!
