I usually wear a 38 and the 39s in these fit great. They do run a bit narrow, but not as narrow as an actual narrow shoe. I had a difficult time finding boots that were tall and these are just what I needed to tuck in my jeans and keep chiggers out! I like the heel height-I find a bit of a heel more comfortable than a flat shoe. I bought the grey, which is more if a distressed brown and they are very attractive. The ankle part is comfortable/flexible out of the box so I don't anticipate any blisters. I put arch supports in, but have to do that in all my shoes.

OUTSTANDING! Love love these boots!! Look great and extremely comfortable especially for a boot. A little pricey but very well made. What was disappointing and I experience this many times with Zappos, is that they often do not have the size or color that I want. I wanted to order the black oiled and the camel but again...out of stock. And I did not see a button to click to notify me if or when they do get it in. And many times they don’t get it in. Shipping is always fast and they do have easy returns. Grab these boots soon cause they might be out of stock!

I ordered a 39 and 40 after reading other reviews. I wear a 8.5 in boots and 8 in sandals. The 39 fit great with socks and the 40 was way too loose so sending it back. The boot is very comfortable with room for my toes. I will be wearing them on the motorcycle and taking them on vacation. The sole is a bit stiff in walking around my house but I feel that will soften up as I walk in them, not uncomfortable, just stiff. They look great with ankle length jeans also. The color brown will go with everything and I think the grey (40 going back) would have worked also. I own a pair of Taos sandals and those are awesome for comfort so I'm thinking Taos will be my "go to" brand for walking comfort going forward.

I needed a pair of boots to wear in Scotland that would be stylish, comfortable, versatile, and good to wear in rain. My feet are slightly narrow with high arches, so i was intrigued by the many reviews mentioning comfort and good support. Wore them today straight out of the box with mid-weight socks and walked 2 miles. Wow. They were great. The foot bed was more molded than expected - no padding, but comfortable with great support. No pinching or blisters anywhere. I wear a 7 1/2 and the 39 fit perfect. The grey is more "taupe" colored - kind of brownish grey. I wore them with black jeans and they looked like a soft black color, but I can see how they are "chameleon" and match what is around them. :-) They seem sturdy enough to hold up in rain and wet conditions, but I'll put them to the test.

I LOVE these boots! I swear them all the time! The heel is the perfect height. They look great with jeans or capris. Glad I go them!

I love these boots...as evidenced by the fact that I have three pairs now :) I just got the Bordeaux and love the color.

I love these boots! I have a difficult time putting on boots and some shoes. These are easy to put on with the zippers. Fit is perfect.

I had a 38 because I usually wear a 7, but decided to try the 37...so I sized down and they fit great! Love the teal color. I’ll get the black if they go on sale:)

Very cute boots. I love the style and get lots of compliments. I liked them so well I bought a pair for my mother. I work a minimum of 10-12 hours a day. I wear them all day with no discomfort. I was wearing Dansko shoes every day and I was having so much foot pain. I had to switch to something else to give my feet a break/change. The combat style is really cute and in-style right now. I wear them with my dress pants and with my skirts. They are true to length and the width is great without being too tight. I do feel they are wider with wear than when I first got them. I have a narrow foot. My only complaint is that they make my feet smell. I use baby powder and cologne spritz but for whatever reason, these shoes make my feet smell. I also wish that the insole had more cushion. I have skinny, bony feet. It’s not bad and most people probably wouldn’t even notice. I think I will add a cushioned insole for added comfort. I do this with most of my shoes anyway. I have orthotics but they do not fit comfortably in these shoes, but I really don’t need them with these shoes.

Probably one of the best shoe purchases I have ever made. These make me so happy and make anything I wear just a bit elevated in style. I just love them. I ordered up a size and wear with thick socks and couldn't be happier. My 88 year old mother just went on and on about them every time she saw me in them. She loved them so much that she just ended up purchasing her own pair...in red! Boy does she look cute in them! I have the Burgundy and they are just the perfect shade of Burgundy and my mother's red pair are a nice deep red. Do I need another pair in a different color, no...but will I get another pair in a different color...it's very likely!

O M G. There are NO words!!!! Oh wait- there is 1- SCRUMPTIOUS!!!!! Slipped them on right out of the box and ahhhhhh. SO comfortable. I got the teal, absolutely gorgeous. I had attempted to get this color on Taos website but they are sold out. So thank you Zappos, for turning heartache into heaven. I usually wear 7.5, ordered the 38 & it’s a perfect fit with a smidge of wiggle room. If I want to add an extra layer of socks next winter, no problem. I plan to wear these through the summer I love them so much. The side zip makes on/off so easy. If you ask me-(and you did)- they are like dessert for your feet??

So. I didn't want to like these boots. Out of the box, they seemed a little masculine, a little lumberjack-ish, and rather casual. But once I put them on, the siren song of comfort started up. I have a troubled right foot and these boots fit right away. No rubbing. No pain. AND they made me quite a bit taller (I'm 5'1"ish). These are the Blue Ink shade, which is a dark navy-black. Now I'm plotting new outfits to wear them with. Worth every penny.

I am very pleased with my Taos Crave boots in Teal, size 40, my normal size. If you want to wear very thick socks, perhaps order a size up, otherwise your usual size should be fine. Let me say that this is the most I've paid for a pair of shoes/boots. I saw these boots in an ad on Facebook earlier in Fall 2018. They immediately caught my eye; they were cute and a divergence from my usual style. I didn't buy them right away because I didn't want to spend the money and didn't feel like I could justify another pair of boots. However, I saw them a few more times and started thinking about pulling the trigger. I couldn't decide between the teal and burgundy, and wasn't sure if I could pull off the style. I consulted my fashion advisers (my 13- and 9-year-old daughters) and was given the thumbs-up. They both thought the boots were cute and would look good on me (which they confirmed when I put them on once they arrived). I'm glad I went with the teal, it's a bit more unique and it is really a gorgeous color. I've worn them with skinny jeans and tights with a skirt. I even wore them to a symphony concert this past weekend. They are comfortable, and as a middle-aged mom, they also make me feel cool, nonchalant, and edgy without appearing trendy. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase.

There aren't too many shoes that I can put on and wear without going through the pains of breaking in. But, these boots have broken that mold. I wear a 7-1/2 and often have to order a 1/2 size bigger because I have a fairly wide foot. I rolled the dice and ordered the 7/7-1/2 and they fit perfectly. I'm looking forward to wearing a warm, comfortable and stylish boot during my visit to colder country next week. I was hoping for a boot that would be comfortable to walk in all day out of the box and so far, these have delivered. I ordered they grey, and love them.

These boots are a dream. Comfortable right out of the box. I only returned the blue because I liked the black better. The Ink are beautiful!! I loved the black more. If I had a million dollars I would buy all the colors. I have been looking for black boots for 2 years and these ARE IT! Love these boots. Worth every penny. Don't debate, buy these boots!

At age 57, I never ever thought I could pull off wearing a "combat boot" style. I watched these boots for a very long time --- and debated if I was too old for them. But, I finally took the plunge --- just to see how they looked and felt. Quite honestly THE best boot I've ever worn. Comfortable right out of the box. And they make me feel . . . not so much younger, but strong -- and happy! 5 STARS!

These are spectacular boots. I saw a woman hiking up our local butte (hard, rocky climb!) and she was wearing these. I asked her the brand and found the very pair on Zappos. Even though the lady hiker found these trail-worthy, I think I'll wear them about town. They are really good looking. My feet are narrow so I was glad to have laces for adjustment and also the inside zipper for quick on and off.

Wearing them right now. I’ve never put a pair of boots on with such comfort before. My feet aren’t burning or hurting. They fit true to size and are most comfortable. The Teal color of the boots is stunning. I’ll wear these until they’re falling apart. Well, well worth the money.

I really liked the color, style and fit of this boot. Sadly, my feet have issues due to RA and they won't work for all the walking I need to do in them. I'm sad to return them.

I own a pair of these in 40. They FIT, but my heel is still feeling slippage. No matter what I try. Sock thicknesses, foot pad tape on the heel, etc. They just slip, likee blister-coming-slipping. I have no clue why I'm writing this "review," I love these but do they require a "break in" to get rid of the weird little heel slippage? It's mystifying, because they fit PERFECTLY in every other way. Yes I've thought of ordering down a size but I am POSITIVE I wouldn't be able to get my foot in there at all. I wear anything from a 9-10 in all other shoes. Strange, I know. Hah. Well thanks all. Glad we had this little chat. :-)

Five stars but I'm returning them.....I purchased a pair of these in Bordeaux last year. Love them. Super comfortable and supportive, warm without being overly sweaty or hot. They were my go to shoe on our last trip which involved miles of cobblestone, wet pavement, city walking and dirt roads. Wiped them down and gave a bit of a conditioning shine and they are good as new. So, I figured I'd get myself another pair in a different color which Hubby could put under the Christmas tree. I ordered the Indigo and the Grey for comparison. Bummer!!!!! The Indigo for all intensive purposes looks black. I guess if you wore one true black and one Indigo you might notice a difference. The grey are really more of a brownish color. I double checked my own assessment by asking a couple of other people. And yup, the Indio was judged to be black and the grey was judged to be brown. Taos isn't doing themselves any favors by putting brown laces in each of the different colors. I'm going to try the Teal color - in the hopes that it might be more blue/grey (as it appears in the image) than actual greeen/blue.

I'm always worried that boots will be to narrow, because they usually are. I have a slightly wide foot and high arch, so boots can be tricky. These are as nice as they look. Sturdy, but cute and nice leather. Perfect height heel supports the arch. Plenty of room in the toe box. I'm 7.5-8, ordered the 38, it feels pretty true to size... there's a little extra room at the heel, but it's not a half size too big... 37 would be too small.

I love, love, love these boots!! Still can't believe I spent so much on 1 pair of shoes but these may be THE most comfortable pair of footwear I have EVER owned! Incredible ankle support, good arch support & generally very sturdy. Will be great for a Minnesota winter. Plus, I get lots of compliments on the awesome teal color. Totally unique look ;-) I normally wear 8 wide or 8.5 & got these in sz. 40 & they fit perfectly. Enough room for my wide feet but not too long. Overall, an amazing pair of boots!!

The leather is soft and supple. The red is beautiful - rich, yet subtle with a slightly distressed look - perfect for fall and winter. My narrow heels did not slip, which is rare for a boot until it is worn in. The laces also meant I could make them fit along my skinny ankles and calves perfectly when wearing tights and also loosen them a bit to tuck in skinny jeans. I really wanted to love them but the lack of arch support means they are going back. Usually with a heel this height or a bit higher the shank of the shoe sufficiently supports my foot along the arch. I wear stacked heel Fryes and cowboy boots comfortably all the time without the need for cushioned arch support. But even replacing the removable insoles with a variety of different orthotic inserts couldn't keep my right foot from pronating inward. I'm sure the fault lies with my flat feet and not the boots. The boots run large. My foot was swimming in the size 37's (but my arches felt fine) and even with very thick wooly socks the full size smaller 36's were comfortably roomy. The Bordeaux color was very brown and not the deep cordovan with hints of black that the Zappos rep I spoke with described. I wasn't disappointed in the color for long since the nice folks at Zappos sent out the beautiful red ones right away - it's just too bad that my feet let me down. I'm on my 6th order in 2 weeks trying to find a boot that works after no luck in stores (which don't stock much in sizes 5.5-6). Without Zappos' free shipping and returns policy and huge selection, I'd have given up long ago.
