I',m really ambivalent on the pair because I have this problem with the top side of my right foot only. It hurts when I walk/run

I found out the hard way that the treads on the shoes is not for damp smooth concrete. I went flying. The same is true on smooth damp rocks and moss. They are GREAT on dry ground and rocky terrain. I recently found that they absorb a lot of moisture while walking in wet grassy areas, and do not dry completely overnight. The compound of the soles is too hard for good wet traction. A trade off between traction and tread wear. But in saying that, I am looking to buy another pair. For the drier days of hiking.

I purchased these shoes on strong recommendations from others on the Bean Website. They felt pretty comfortable from the time I first tried them on. They were a good fit for my somewhat slender, Size- 13 foot and provide a nice compromise between the sturdy and stable feel of a hiking boot and the comfort of a more casual shoe. The soles have good grip on most surfaces, but beware tile floors that still have not dried after mopping. I bought these shoes specifically for an extended stay (and wet walks) in the UK countryside. They did not require much time to feel sufficiently broken in for extended walks. I was very disappointed to find, upon first stream crossing, that the right shoe was not waterproof. My best guess is a defective seam was the culprit. Bean offered to send a replacement pair asap, but they would have arrived after my return to the US. A replacement pair was waiting for me at home, when I returned. Customer service handled my online complaint and replacement request (via "chat") with high marks. I am now breaking in the replacement pair and haven't yet tested for waterproof-ness. I will update my review, once I know more. A not-too-serious negative about the shoes is that the insoles contain grey patches of a material that badly accentuates odor. My feet typically do not give off a noticeably bad odor after a day of walking, but they sure seemed to when I used these shoes. As it turned out, the strong odor was coming from the grey patches on the insoles, and the odor persisted to some extent, even after drying them out. I removed the insoles for the replacement pair and solved the odor problem. I hope the replacement pair turns out to live up to the good reviews entered by other Bean customers. For the price paid, I expect the shoes to be of very good quality.

First the good... These shoes fit my foot extremely well. No heel slippage, good arch support and plenty of room for my toes. Excellent materials. ...But... The first pair had a problem with the right shoe. It rocked when placed on a flat surface whereas the left was dead stable. The replacement pair had two stable shoes but both shoes had leather that was "dented". (Unfortunately, Oboz does not either stuff the shoes or provide protection around them within the box so this is what can happen.) If I had gotten a pair without the issues described above, I think they may have vied for the most comfortable and supportive low hiking shoes I've ever owned.

I have been wearing the same size and model Oboz for 5 years. It seems like in 2022 they made a change in their manufacturing process. Now their shoes just do not fit the way they used to. I ordered an 11.5 Wide and the right shoe is noticeably smaller than the left. I have purchased 3 pairs of 11.5 W Oboz in the last couple of months, in every pair the right shoe is too small. I am down to my last pair of pre-2022 shoes, these still fit. I have called customer service and apparently, I am the only one to complain about this. so... YMV, perhaps its just me, but I do not have this issue with other brands.

I found the shoe to be a bit stiff and tight. I have greatly loosened to strings and that helps a bit. The soles are a hard rubber which is inflexible and it feels a bit like I am walking with boards on my feet. I am hoping they relax over time, but if I had picked these up in a store, I probably would not have bought them.

Well made shoe. Ordered my regular size, way too small and tight in the toe box.

I own several pairs Oboz, and have not had this issue before. Very narrow, to the point of being unwearable. I thought they might stretch over time, but they have not.

Shoe fits nicely, I like that they have a wide option. Soul is very hard and makes hiking on hard packed trails a bit uncomfortable. Waterproofing does not hold. I've had the shoes for less than a year, very little exposure to water and found them to be taking in moisture on a 4 mile hike in a dusting of snow today. I think for the money I would expect a bit better product.

This is my FIFTH pair of Oboz hiking shoes (second pair of the Bridger), so obviously I like them - where it seems a lot of low hikers are nothing more than glorified sneakers, Oboz makes substantial, rugged shoes. That said, I'm disappointed in this particular pair. I've had them for about two months, and the right shoe makes an incessant muffled clicking sound. I though it may go away as the shoe broke in, but it only seems to be getting worse. I examined the shoe thouroughly - the sole is intact and not cracked - none of the lugs are separating. I removed the insole, and it honestly feels that there could be a problem with the last. It feels as though it may be cracked right under the ball of my foot. If I walk with my toes exaggeratedly flexed upward, the sound goes away. If I walk nomally, the sound returns - and again, only in the right shoe. Again, I've really enjoyed Oboz shoes, so I'm chalking this one up to a wierd anomoly. I just had a great customer service experience with Kevin, and he was able to help me out with a return. Given the unique nature of this review, I was hesitant to give just 2 stars.

Bought these a week ago at the Bean store in Lebanon, NH. Staff exceptionally helpful. I have bought a lot from Bean over the years. I am usually very satisfied. These boots are a real let down. They fit the foot properly but the tongue has some sort of very stiff support on either side that is unforgiving and painful. I tried wearing them a few times now, and they are a real bother. They are waterproof, and I should add that my wife bought the same shoe in ladies, and she finds hers quite comfortable. I assume since I have worn them a few times I should not return them.

The quality of this hiking shoe has dramatically eroded. While providing excellent support- increasingly the shoe squeaks when I walk on trails and well as hard surfaces. The leather interface with the vibrato rubber sole and head separately with very little use in tough terrains. Have worn the shoe for less than 6 months and am tired of the noise and water penetration

Before the Comments, I've spent over 40 years Hiking up and down all over New England. And have worn quite a few Hikers and shoes. My Hikers of Choice are my Asolos. So, I was looking for a Low Hiker for next trip to Vermont. No Rigorous Hiking, mostly hills and paths. I went to LL Bean, to find something. The Clerk was great, by the way, and what you should expect from LLBean. I looked at a pair of Oboz......They looked like well made $169. Boots. Tried a few sizes on, found my size, walked around, and out I went. Obviously as most of you path seekers know, wear your new hikers for a while before you trek out in the middle of nowhere. Well I did...I really wanted to like these Oboz......Here's the prob. Rear Heel slippage. To the point wear...you know a blister is a coming....and the darn things were so tight around the top of my foot, that you could read the size on my skin.....ok not really, but when I took them off after wearing for a few hours, the imprint was indented on my foot. No they weren't tied too tight, did you read the beginning of this review? I am not a shoe designer, nor would I know how to design a shoe. But whatever it is, too much cushion near the heal, not enough support for the ankle?? I dunno! Going to Vermont this weekend, and I know there is Outdoor type stores there. I'll update this review when I find the hikers that work for me....Thank you!

I ordered a pair online because they were never in stock at my nearest store. The shoes were highly recommended for people planning on hiking a lot. I found the shoes very uncomfortable and heavy. The shoes are narrow throughout and did not fit my feet right. They feel more like work boots to be honest. The quality was very good and I can tell someone put a lot of thought into the shoe. I really wanted to like them but they were just not for me. I returned them to my local store and as always, LL Bean was very understanding and professional.

worst shoes ever. They were like walking on rocks. Hurt my feet so bad. I couldn't return them and Oboz wouldn't do anything. Basically they didn't care. So I threw them away. What a waste of all that money. Don't buy them.

I bought these because I was looking for a better waterproof hiking shoe. Something rugged that could take the beating that I give it. However these are the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn. I have flat feet so I always make sure I buy wide shoes which I did in this case. The problem lies in the soul of the shoe. It is the hardest rubber I have ever felt. Has no give to it at all. The insole is even worse, it has absolutely no cushion to it, it’s like walking on a rock. I emailed the manufacturers support but they were very unhelpful. Basically I am going to throw away these $150 shoes and find something else. If you’re looking for comfort as well as a rugged shoe this is definitely not for you.
