I fell in love with these boots and ordered them a half a size too big to account for socks. I had to return them because I couldn't clear the ankle area, if the zipper would have went down another half inch, it would have worked. I did muscle my foot in them and once on they fit great but getting them on was way too challenging.

I bought these and the SOREL Tofino Cate in Chevron to see which I liked best. NORTH FACE: Good to wear when you want to keep your feet dry in snowy weather and not look like you are dressed for the arctic. The suede top is pretty fashionable for a durable, winter boot. And I love how tall they are. Not too hot to wear all day in the office. SOREL Tofino Cate: Much more insulated. I wore these in 2 feet of snow for hours and was dry and warm. They might be a little too warm all day in the office. They are really cute and I got a ton of compliments from both men and women. So I kept them both! :)

These boots are great. They are waterproof and fleece lined so they are dry and warm. The tread is perfect for any snow or ice, but they are comfortable enough to wear to yoga.

Worth the price. My feet are toasty warm in snow and don't hurt at the end of the day. I didn't have trouble getting them on, but I have fairly slim calves and ankles. Love this boot.

I absolutely love the style and fit of these boots! Not great support and minimal warmth - but then again I was wearing them with running socks - so higher or thicker socks would probably have made a huge difference. If I had more money I would keep these but I need a boot that I can wear for hours in the snow so I am going with the North Face Shellista Mid Boot. Not as stylish but will definitely keep my feet warm and dry for hours. These might too - but I cannot afford to take the chance. I am sad to return them.

I have slightly narrow feet and these fit great and ran true to size without sizing up for wool socks. Had no problem getting them on and off, but if you have a slightly wide or wide foot it could be a problem. Thinsulate lining seems like it will be warm but not as warm as a shearling type lining. Foot bed could have more insulation - but I usually add a shearling foot bed to my winter boots and there is room to add it. My calves are not super skinny and the boot fit nicely with leggings on at the calves. If you have a wider calf or want to tuck thicker jeans into the boot, this boot may not be for you. My only complaint is also an asset. The rubber that runs around the base of the boot, especially the toe box area, is not very attractive with the suede but it will keep your feet dry in spring melt. If THF just removed the upper ring of it on the boot it would look much nicer.

Overall, I give the 'Anna Purna Talls' a one thumb up. What I like most about them: the comfort and style. I was concerned that they'd be too tight for my muscular (15") calves, and though they are snuggish I still have room to tuck in non-bulky pants. The adjustable strap at the back is a great feature. They were comfortable to walk in from day one (no breaking in period required), and the toe box fits perfectly into the baskets on my mountain bike pedals. I love the black suede-rubber outer design (mine are now mud-speckled, and still look great); I don't love the greyish-blue color of the lining (I'd have kept it black), but that's a minor point. The only drawbacks of these boots (that I've discovered thus far) have been commented on by other reviewers: 1) the side zipper-footbed configuration makes it hard to get ones foot into the boot, and 2) they are not waterproof. Knowledge of these probable flaws did not stop me from buying these boots, and now that I have them I'm glad it didn't. I find that wearing thin socks makes it easy enough to get into the boots, and in California that's all you'd really want to wear with them anyway as the lining is quite warm on its own. The first time I wore them riding my bike in the rain I noticed some dampness in the zipper area and possible along the rubber-suede seam. However, the Anna Purna Talls are MOSTLY waterproof, and since I own other waterproof leather boots that are truly impermeable (thanks Keen!), that's good enough for me. If you are looking for boots that will keep you absolutely dry while wading through puddles or streams, these probably aren't the boots for you. If you can bear some moisture, don't need to wear thick socks and love (as I do)the 'North Woods meets Cossack Cavalry' vibe of the Anna Purna Talls, I recommend them.

These are comfortable once on. It is hard to get your foot through the ankle opening. I am hoping it stretches out. The zipper should go lower.

I thought these were going to be my dream boots dressy yet durable, elegant and not too bulky but ready to wade through some serious crud. I love the light leather shown in the picture but it's a more earthy, dark brown in real life. (See pictures on The North Face's website for more accuracy.) These boots had a lot going for them, but they slouch just a bit at the ankle and it makes the zipper curve in right across the bony prominence. It rubs and hurts. They might break in so this is not a problem but I just do not feel I can chance it. I am bummed!

These boots were in the top two of a number I tried. They were very comfortable in the foot. Toe box was nice, as was the heel height. After standing for a minute or two, it felt like the ankles might bag or bunch and be uncomfortable after wearing them a while. The calves fit well, and the buckle makes the calf width at the top adjustable which is nice. However, the hole beneath the buckle seems a little odd style wise. I had no problem getting them on and off, unlike other reviewers. Still decided to return them.

I totally agree with the other reviewer. Unfortunately, I also returned these boots because the location of the zipper base makes these extremely difficult to get on and narrow. I was afraid the zip would break due to the force required to put on.

Very hard to get foot into boot. Once in the boot, it rubbed my ankle. I wanted these as waterproof walking boots. Not the right choice...

I so wanted to love these boots. I have narrow calves and most boots look like I'm swimming in them, but this boot has a pretty narrow shaft and is adjustable. The adjustable tab in back makes it so that I can wear them with dresses and tights on the tightest setting, and with skinny jeans on a looser setting. I loved the way they looked and the fact that they're waterproof... but. The toe box is narrow and oddly small. I have pretty narrow feet, never need a wide size, but it felt like these were pressing down on the tops of my toes and my pinky toes feel squished. I tried a half size up but it doesn't feel any different, just the ankles feel looser. Multiple people complained about the zipper not coming down low enough to get their foot in, but that hasn't been a problem for me. Still wearing these around the house to see if I can make them work, but I fear they're going back.

These were so stiff and huge. They were shaped for something other than feet I think.
