I own a different style of Frye boots, their Engineer 8R in Sand I've had over 5yrs and love those!! My shoe size varies depends on the brands can be between 8 to 9, and in Frye 9 seems to my size. Came across this style definitely gives off that TWD zombie apocalypse vibe I was looking for. They were out of 9 but I thought I would give the 8.5 a try just in case, but alas way too tight. I was able to get my feet in with the help of a shoe horn. They seem to run short and narrow, too much pinching the toes and i could tell if I kept them my heel would end up being one big blister. The quality of the shoe was superb good quality leather (love that leather smell!) the brush weathered look of the leather was nice as well, and the pair were marked made in Mexico. I do love Zappos policy with returns, so easy to get the request started. I did end up finding the Veronica Belted Short thru another store (same great quality!) in a size 9 and they fit great much easier getting my foot in, still a tad narrow but its not a problem plus I know I'll get them broken an then they'll be perfect, same good quality from Frye!

I have a few other pairs of Frye boots - these are the only ones that really felt small! Maybe their sizing is changing - I know they used to run big. Not anymore. Go up 1/2 size. They're also pretty narrow, however I'm getting them stretched at our local shoemaker so that will help (I don't have the patience to wear them and let them stretch out naturally). The style is awesome - very cool! Love the look - can't wait to wear them!!

Love the look of this boot. Difficult to get foot in and out of. Very stiff leather. Would take patience to break these in properly.

Beautiful boots, right out of the box, but too sloppy for my slightly-narrow feet. Lots of movement in the heel. I'd love to give them a chance, but at this price-point, I can't take the risk.

Industrial type shoe, very hard and clunky. Suited for shop floor type wear.

I like the style: I've always liked Frye but you have to be careful now more than ever. As prices go up quality seems to suffer on some styles. The rough suede is smaller than the black but a better made boot...probably having something to do w/ popularity as they're selling more in black than the beige color brushed suede....Frye is famous for narrow fitting women's sizes .... I often have to order smaller men's boots...but then they're clunky (big soles and huge toes!!!!!! What's a girl to do!!!! I always order several colors of different sizes to get the one I really want....or I go to an actual store and help boost the local economy where they pay taxes and suffer for it!!!!!!

Sexy shoe, fit was "not quite." Great rugged, edgy looking boot. Love the idea of it. However, a few things caused me to return. First, major chemical odor out of the book. I've purchased Frye footwear before and never had this, so I was surprised. Second, the top of the boot was very "near" the bottom, making my foot "pancake" in the center. It was not too narrow, but rather, too shallow. It was a return.

I got a promotional 25 dollars off of Frye boots, which I've always liked the looks of (plus made in the US), so I decided to try these - also, they were already on sale. I do like the look in person - very sturdy, bad-ass, and pre-scuffed. Like a biker/punk boot from my distant past, that I've been wearing for many years. However, they are definitely not the most comfortable boot, right out of the box. They are tighter than I would have liked across the foot, though wearing them around the house eased them enough that I decided to keep them. They are also rather stiff and heavy. I am hoping the thick leather keeps my feet warm, because I really don't have enough room for thick wool socks (yet). I don't know if ordering them in a larger size would help or not, because although it was tight across the top of my foot, the heel feels right - any bigger, my heel might have been lifting out. I decided to keep them because I have tried on dozens of pairs of black short boots in the last few years, and these come closest to the style I wanted - I have returned soooo many pairs (thanks, I think? Zappos). I think they will continue to ease (I hope), and the quality makes me think I'll be wearing them decades from now. So, a bit ambivalent but hopeful.

These boots look awesome with practically everything- leggings, dresses, jeans. I think I'll add a bit of arch support to them and they will be perfect.

I love the look of these boots and really want to wear them but they are still and heavy and not very comfortable. I love Frye products. I was sad about these even though I kept them.

I am disappointed. I have the Frye Philip in tall and they are amazing! They are true to size, have room for socks, this pair was tight, and hard inside. I was so wishing, that they were as great as the tall pair. I will try other short Fryes as the boots are very stylish but just not comfortable.

I am so disappointed. Length was fine but as other reviewers have said the forefoot is extremely narrow, stiff and hard. I actually questions whether these are true Frye boots. Not comfortable out of the box (or prob ever), box was not Frye box (box said "this is a replacement box as the original was damaged in transit". At what point in transit? Not to me, obviously. I own 2 pairs of Frye boots that I have had for almost 20 years... beautiful, comfortable out of box w/o sox etc. and still look almost new. What has happened to the Frye company? I read they have gone through many hands in recent years. Too bad. If these are Frye boots, then their quality and comfort (both of which they are known for) are gone. Truly sad.

The high heeled veronica boots are my all time favorite so I was excited to find these for days you don’t want a heel but they’re seriously awkward to get on and off. The angle is bad and the zipper doesn’t help much and other than that they’re just nowhere near as cute. They’re just okay in ever way and with the effort of getting them on and off, just not worth it. Returned them.

Cool boots - horrible fit. After one wearing my feet were a bloody blistered mess. One boot too tight in across toe area and both caused heels to rub up and down. I own 4 other pairs of Frye boots that fit fine. Will think twice about adding a 6th to the collection

I really wanted to love these boots but it was not to be for me. They are extremely hard to put on. The opening is way too small and makes putting the boots on a challenge. When I did get them on and after wearing them for a 15 minute walk, I had huge blisters on the backs of my heels. The leather at the back of the boot is so hard and rough that even a short walk left me with HUGE blisters on the back of my heels. I am very disappointed in the way these boots are made. They are not worth the money I spent for them.
