I was hoping to get another pair of Brooks Ghost 7 GTX before the style change and was too late. I was relieved that the Ghost 8 doesn't seem any different. This shoe is the best I've found for my arthritis-damaged feet. Just wish I could get a pair in a nice plain navy or black for less sporty occasions.

The shoes fit well and are very comfortable. However, I hate the gaudy colors and the flat laces. The laces always look twisted and are hard to tighten and loosen. I guess they're going for the sleek look, but it's very impractical for my use. Brooks, please make at least one dark color that is solid with no white and oval or round laces that work conveniently.

I measure 10-10.5, but use 11 in Brooks. Standing still these were great, but when toe bent black plastic at front of laces dug into toe & hurt. My other Brooks don't have this plastic at toe crease. Ended up going to 11.5, so plastic fell at right at toe crease, (vice on toes) and was less uncomfortable, but now they are slightly too big. Gortex just as comfortable as regular Brooks mesh. Would LOVE these if it weren't for black plastic at toe crease. This model good for high arches.

After two years, I decided I needed a new pair of Ghost 7s. What could be so hard? Well, they have been replaced by these 8's, and the replacement isn't quite the same---the material (suede?) at the outer toe is firmer so they rub my little toes and the toe box seems narrower. Ouch. Since there are no more 7's, since I need waterproof, I'm keeping these, but will wear them only for very short walks, and start searching for more comfortable Gortex-sneakers. Anyone know where I can get a pair of Brooks Ghost 7's, size 9?

The toe box was too padded for my foot. The heel felt great and length, but my toes felt like they were being pushed upwards against the tope of the shoe. I also did not like that the tongue is not adjustable and did not allow me to tighten enough around my ankle when tying the shoe. Great colors though! Disappointed though as I have been wearing Ghosts for years and this is the first time I had an issue with the fit.

Reviews of other Brooks shoes have echoed my experience. I was a loyal "Ghost" model buyer until the changed the fit and I've tried almost all the other versions and none seem to work. Size 5 is too small and size 5.5 is way too big. I have one more model to try and then I'm switching brands.

I really wanted to love these shoes -- they are attractive, but they hurt my feet. I have tried the larger size and feel like I am swimming in them. These feel like the right size, but they pinch my feet.

My foot is actually a 6.5, but I wear a 7 with a wide width to accommodate a very high arch. I ordered these in a 7 and there was no room for my arch or my orthotics. Had to send them back. I could order up, but my feet really are closer to a 6 and I don't want to be tripping over my shoes to be so long. Please make these in larger widths, or make the shoe deeper to accommodate high arches!

I bought these shoes for climbing 14ers in Colorado. I was disappointed that after two mountains, neither of which had particularly bad talus or scree fields the rubber on the soles was pretty much worn off. In addition, traction for bouldering was minimal. The shoe is great for on-road work, not good as a trail shoe.

I always wear Brooks and have never had an issue, however this pair causes my feet to cramp. I'm hoping I'll be able to break them in, but I've gone on a few runs and my feet are pretty uncomfortable by the end.

So disappointed in this shoe. I've been ordering my Brooks Ghost running shoes from Zappos for years. Same brand, same style, same size, it's been great until now. This pair just doesn't fit right and I've been getting blisters and have to hobble home after only a few miles. I don't know if it's the Gortex outer that makes it more stiff, and so it's not forming to the foot right...ugh. Not happy!

I love the looks of this shoe, and the fact that they're waterproof yet breathable, like my old Brooks GTX's. But there is something funky going on in the toebox of this shoe. It's like there's lumpy fabric bunched up there. Had to return them.Also, it runs even smaller than other Brooks.

I agree with a number of reviewers. I loved my Ghost 7s. Ghost 8s have the extra padding in the toe box, which pinch my feet. I wish I had stocked up on Ghost 7s. Does anyone know of any sneaker to replace Ghost 7s. Ghost 8s are certainly not it.

Am very disappointed in the change from previous Ghost's I have owned. The toe box is narrower and the back heel is higher. The fit is uncomfortable. Why change something that was perfect. Very frustrating! Will return.

I am a LONG time supporter of Brooks Ghost running shoes, but this is the first time I have been disappointed by them. They changed the tongue of the shoe to where it is attached to the inside of the shoe, making it less flexible (more difficult to get on) and worse, it rubs on the top of your foot. I could tell on my first run in these that they were going to be a HUGE problem. They are. I'm bummed! Brooks should not reinvent the wheel...the shoes were amazing before this!
