As a dental student I carry 12 1.5 in books in my back everyday, and all 12 books for which is awesome. I was given a backpack for school but that backpack broke the third day of class. This bag is so sturdy and because it opens up like a suit case I can easily maneuver how to stack my books inside the backpack. Also the laptop compartment is my favorite it is deep enough to fit my Mac 13 in and my surface pro tablet. If you're going to go into medical school in any field I highly recommend this backpack.

I like it's large capacity and number of compartments. Haven't used it for a trip yet, so I hope it works as well as I think it will. I also hope the shoulder straps are more comfortable than some reviews suggested.

I travel a lot with only a carry on and laptop. This works for both. This is my 3rd laptop bag from Sierra and I've been very happy with the quality.

I used this bag on a two month trip to Europe. I wanted a bag I could carry on flights and manage easily travelling from place to place on buses and trains. The capacity of this bag was more than adequate. The bag is very durable and well made with strong zipper support.

I had an issue with my telescoping handle not extending easily but when I contacted customer service they were responsive and helped me pick out a replacement. My only criticism was I wanted the replacement bag in Blue but they only had Red or Black. My praises are it was easy to work with customer service. My new bag works great for weekly business trips, the bag is easy to access, I love the laptop and tablet pouches, it also carries all my power cords, backup batteries, and power cords. It has a great place in the front access pouch for pens and highlighters.

I love this backpack. It's sturdy but not too heavy. I like that the cover that hides the arm straps can be folded down to cover the wheels while carrying the backpack over the shoulder. I like the padded area for my laptop. There are many compartments, it's roomy without being oversized and the side zips open all the way down the side as opposed to just part of the way. It is easy to pack that way. I can carry it on the airplane...it fits fine under the seat or in the overhead. I would recommend this backpack.

I'm a PhD student & was looking for a durable, easy-to-access rolling backpack to cart books, documents & notebooks back & forth between home and school. The thing that sold me on this backpack is that it opens up just like a suitcase, so putting in books and other items so that they are secure & don't move around much is a breeze. To access what I need quickly, I don't have to unzip that area entirely. Plus, it doesn't tip over when completely loaded. There's plenty of different types of storage, too.
To address the con about the 'sticky zipper'. This isn't a design flaw; it's just what happens when you have a fully opening piece of luggage that has compartments on the top part. The weight of the items stored in the top makes the zipper catch at times because it puts pressure on the teeth when trying to open the bottom/main section. At first I thought it was a problem with the zipper, but when I took out all of the items I had put in the top/front sections (and there were many + the laptop/tablet compartment is also on top of the main section), the zipper worked fine. So you can either remove all the items whenever open the main section zipper (not going to happen), or support the top part so the zipper is not stressed from trying to work with all that weight on it. A non-issue for me.
I would concur with other comments - add a zippered compartment inside the main section or where the electronics go for more secure storage and add a sleeve so it can be stacked easily on top of other luggage.

Would like an internal zippered passport pocket. Maybe a sleeve on the back to slide onto a roller board

Verified Purchase
This is a great piece of luggage! Fits easily in the overhead bin and navigates smoothly on the bus, subway, airport, train aisles-- you name it. I wish it had a strap for my waist when being used as a backpack but given its versatility, it's not a deal breaker. This is a cute, compact, and incredibly practical bag. Recently I was able to pack all of my gear for a 6 day trip in here. I regret not having purchased something like this sooner.

very roomy. great quality and material.
cons:
-zipper for the big compartment tends to snag.
- the bag is not heavy. However, there's still room to make it even lighter. I challenge high sierra team to make this bag lighter!

I like the roominess of this product. It holds my computer, iPad, camera bag with multiple lenses, books and more. I have only one bag to deal with when traveling and it's on wheels! - taking the weight off my shoulders. It works so well that I am now using it whenever I leave my home for local commutes. The one disappointment is that one of the zippers sticks. When I open the the bag it is not always simple to close it. I'm hoping that it does not break.

I thought this was going to be the perfect bag when traveling solo. I could pull my larger suitcase with this one strapped to my back, minimizing coordination efforts and vulnerability. It looked well made, but the frame consumes the interior space. expanding the pockets is an option but not for air travel and airline dimension constraints. the top of this bag resembles an egg. for the purpose of extra space, it could have been squared off. a real disappointment. I will be returning it and using my traditional carryon bag.

Does not stand up when full of books. Zipper catches in fabric and becomes stuck. Tested before using and called to return. Contact at Sierra said Sierra would not pay for the return or issue a return slip that could be deducted from the purchase.
Disappointed,
