I bought this hoody for approaches for climbing and long belays early in the morning. While it is extremely warm, it often can be to warm for climbing in California. It does not breath well, so I find myself taking it off on my hikes or just putting it on when I will be in one spot for a prolonged period of time.
The insulation performs great. It is bulkier than I expected, so if you plan to layer, make sure your layer is a size bigger than this jacket.

I bought this as a gift for myself at Christmas and am enjoying it even more than i thought i would (i have a lot of Arcteryx gear and my expectations are high). Warm enough for all but the coldest southern Ontario winter days, this was my go-to for hiking through the woods with my dogs. Very durable--going through thorny brush didn't cause damage (although one of my dogs bit a hole through the pocket getting at treats when i left the jacket lying around). 24K Inverse colour is beautiful. There was limited colour availability when i bought it online, so i thought the 24K Inverse colour would be a compromise, but not at all. It's a beautiful colour.

WARM! Not too loose, not too tight. She'll feels durable. The hem length in front seems a tad short. Wish it was a little longer.

Ordered a Medium since the website says the model is 6'2" and wearing a medium. Do NOT listen to the website. I'm 5'11, 175 average build and can barely move in the medium. If you only plan on wearing a t-shirt under the jacket it might work but if you want to layer or wearing a light fleece/flannel underneath you won't have much room at all. I'll be returning for a large.
Otherwise, it's a nice jacket with the usual solid Arcteryx construction.

I have just bought this jacket and not tested because because the temperature in France is too warm. Everything seems OK but take care the '' paradoxe '' color is not a grey, it is more a '' petrol blue/duck blue'' (nice however)

So I got this jacket in the kingfisher colorway a month ago and it is really warm for weight. I only have one problem which I realised after a week of wear. The interior garment is not as durable as the outside garment, which resulted in one of the feathers pokeing a small hole in the jacket. Because I had worn the jacket I couldnt get my money back.

I love Arcteryx period, but they have to come up with the right fitment on their clothes. I got this jacket in size XXL, am thick 5'5 and body wise it fit ok more like a XL size. But the arms were just too long. I got a Belay parka jacket in size S and that jacket fits perfect, but wait from a XXL to a S. That's what I mean by the fitment sizing.

Great lightweight warm jacket. I'm not a fan of the elastic cords, not very user friendly. Not bulky can wear an outer shell. I'm 5'10 145 S which fits great except when I use the hoodie the jacket tend to pull up. If you're active but can get hot and trapped air can get damp.

Really debated between this and the Patagonia Down Sweater Hoody, which I have had and loved for years. Ended deciding to try something new. The small fits me like a glove (I am 5'4", 110lbs normally. I am currently 4 months pregnant and I think I'll be able to keep squeezing into this for another month or so...) The sleeves fit snuggly in a cozy, comfortable way and are just the right length. My husband has the older version of this jacket, and I think the new material on the outer shell is more durable (though it's also a little stiffer, which makes it a little more cumbersome.) My only complaint is that when I zip up the coat for normal wear in non-frigid weather, (leaving the top 3-4 inches unzipped) the top of the collar hits me right around my mouth...it's super obnoxious. I have to deliberately fold it down, all the way back around to the hood, to keep it out of my face. Hoping that it will relax over time and this won't always be an issue. Otherwise, loving this coat!

I recently received my Thorium AR Hoody following a web order. It was not an easy decision between M and L.
I also own a Zeta SL jacket in size L and I found there was a little too much space left under it when wearing it in combo with a fleece.
So for the Thorium I opted for the M size model. It does fit nicely around the body with a merino layer and there is still space for a thicker sweater. However the sleeves and the front of the jacket could be a little longer. Especially when wearing that extra sweater.
Dimma colour variant is great! Quite elegant when in the city and it also works heavy duty when in the outdoors.

Just had a 24K black. I had Cerium LT ever since cerium LT was made. The only reason why I got my first version cerium LT over less expansive Thorium AR back then was I thought costing more could be warmer. I thought wrong. Despite slightly heavier and uses 750 fill down it still warmer than Cerium LT. It uses tougher face fabric so much durable. Because of that, it has more weather resistance over cerium LT. If you never had any of these two, go for Thorium AR. You will be happy with this jacket over chilly weather between 10C~-1 over you could use as the mid-layer jacket and it cost $50 less than Cerium LT.
P.S. To Arcteryx design team. Please take my comment seriously since I have been your fan and royal customer over 10 yrs. Please redesign Cerium LT. It surely has a good design. The end. Its functionality was light weather and mid-layer jacket failers big time. And it loses a lot of down from seam line. I have commented this years ago but you never listen. And it still had the same problem.

Hi, everyone!
There are few words about fantastic jacket Thorium AR.
Mine is 2014 DOM, Bison colour.
I bought this for doing winter activities in freezing weather, as a warming piece after skiing competition and as a commuting jacket for spring and summer (yes, summer in our area is pretty cold).
So, I can say, that jacket works well as I expected. Warm and robust.
I wear it with inner windproof layer, when I go snowshoeing.
It is loose enough to be worn over my skiing jacket.
Jacket looks perfect, to be worn in the city.
The only disappoint - is warranty service. All 3 zippers on my jacket had broken, and I have no response from local Arc'teryx representative.
Will I advice to buy this jacket again? Yes! It's warm, it can be packed in small stash bag and fit is perfect!

Great every day jacket for value. Fit is normal with room for layering. Sturdy material and stylish look. Will take a beating and still look good.

I had the chance to try the jacket in various conditions as a top layer (L3). I wanted to put it into the test with continuous ultra-light snowfall in Turbacz peak around 1,300m and temperatures -4 to -7 C. Combined with a polar (Power Grid) as L2 and merino wool body L1 It was extremely warm, even sometimes way too warm :) The storm-hood is really amazing and so comfortable! Durability for such a soft material seems pretty fine (I accidentally grabbed it by the zipper and the material didn't damage - well done!) in micro-frictions small elastic tree branches etc. Unfortunately after 3h of hiking the jacket was completely wet. I observed that the snow was melting (even in such low temperatures) on the surface of the jacket and then some of it was soaked in while less was going away. I will definitely keep the jacket however I would wish for much better water repellency (this is why -1 star on the review).

I do love this coat. It's light and warm and the down inside is likely a high grade. I'm wearing this as a standalone coat and so far it's been great.

This is definitely a go-to jacket for dry, cool weather. I usually throw this on over nothing but a t-shirt in the late fall and winter, without feeling cold. But, then again, I tend to run hot, so others might not feel the same way.
I have worn this layered under a Beta AR, but the fit is a bit tight. I'm guessing that the Cerium would probably work better as a layering piece. To be fair, the Thorium isn't so tight that I can't function, it just felt more snug than I like.
The outer material is also very thin. The ripstop helps, but it won't prevent the odd tear (already have two sewn up). I understand the need for a light material, but you still have to be careful in brushy areas.
Otherwise, this is a worthwhile jacket to have, and one I reach for most often through the winter.

I love Arcteryx products.
I own many of the company's products.
I can't give this jacket a top score because there is too much down stuck to my fleece. I only wear it for skiing mid-layer and each time I used it as a mid layer there is a noticeable amount of down on my fleece.
All other aspects of the jacket are great.
