Excellent urban jacket that fits a bit loose. I love the big pockets and the stowed hood.

I bought this two years ago for all around three-season urban and rural use. It's been a superb rain jacket and offers complete cold weather protection when layered with adequate undergarments. So far so good, but I've a long way to see if it'll be a 20-year garment, like the '90s Marmot shell it just bumped for most frequent use.

I've used gore tex rain jackets in the military and civilian world and when I was able to get ahold of this jacket I was able I have never turned away from it. Using this as an everyday rain jacket in the summer and winter and also durable enough for keeping me dry while riding motorcycles this is a staple for all.

Love this shell. Works extremely well with my Atom to give super packable flexibility. With those two and a T-shirt, I'm ready for most things.

Arc'teryx is a brand that sells the promise of high mountain hi-jinks adventures, wear their apparel fits the terrain and conditions perfectly...and I have lived with this dream of doing such since my first arc'teryx kit dropped through the letterbox. Now then, living where I do, at sea level, on the coast, I have always bought into the "I'll buy this bit of kit, just in case I do need to go spinning up a 3000 metre peak with a Pacific storm brewing off-shore." And I have been happy to look into my wardrobe knowing that should such an occasion arise, I will be ready. So, imagine my disappointment when the Interstate jacket arrived. The dream has been shattered and this jacket is now my go to, and no longer my Fission SL (just buy one. You won't regret it). The Interstate is just perfect for my sea-level, on the coast walk into work. The fit is relaxed enough to fit layers beneath and accommodate a blazer, even if I have to tuck in the hems (but that's probably due to the poor fit of the blazer). Stylewise it is perfect for walking around town without embarrassing The Boss by looking like "a mountain goat." The construction is up to the usual Arc'teryx standards; I have had no problems with the waterproof zips. I like the cuff adjustments and how the hood works, and the hem cord works very nicely when the wind picks up. The pockets are ample enough for any urban necessities, too. The Gore-Tex is as capable as ever and the c-knit does tone down the crispy sound of other shells. All in all this is a wonderful urban jacket for an urban bloke who does urban things, in an urban place, at an urban pace. My dream of toying with ice axes is at an end, but in my urban existence I'm more comfortable for wearing this wonderful jacket. Maybe the next lithograph edition should have an urban adventure in it. It could be titled "No Crampons Required." It's a winner. Just like this jacket.

Excellent all-seasons jacket that goes great over top of a hoodie during the winter and cooler weather. Very lightweight (alot lighter than I was expecting), but also feels durable at the same time.

Everything on this jacket from the zippers to the material is high quality. The Gore-Tex C-nit technology is amazing. It is very soft to the skin, making it comfortable to wear as a single piece. It is a little roomy which allows you to wear other an extra coat or jacket underneath. I prefer to wear something underneath just because it fills in that gap and gives it that sleek look. When I got pooped on by a bird, I simply took a wet paper towel and wiped it off. It looked as if it had never gotten pooped on. I was amazed. I thought there would have been some kind of stain on it. But there wasn't. The waterproofness on this jacket is simple incredible. I took a walk in pouring down rain for about 30 minutes and I was still dry. Well done Arcteryx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cons: price. This thing is not cheap. Tbd: durability. I've only had it about a week Pros: over delivers on functionality and styling. Soft to the touch, stylish, definitely wind proof. Net for me the value (I.e. Benefits/price) is top notch. P.s. I certainly didn't buy it for this biut getting numerous compliments doesn't hurt.

182 cm at 85 kg I have a L. I bought this to fill the gap between the summer jacket and the autumn/spring jacket, and to use during the summer as a rain jacket while commuting. The new C-Knit is really soft and silent for a 3L hardshell. It feels nice directly to skin, I usually only have a T-shirt underneath when 10-15 C. Haven't had the chance to test it in rain yet, but I have no hurry. :-)

I brought this jacket because I wanted shell that I could use for outdoor sports and wear to work. Because of the tailored fit, retractable hood, and lack of logos in the front, its formal enough for work, I've even worn it to court on rainy days. While its formal, its also very technical with full Gore-Tex and retractable hood. It fits tight, but I can still get a few thin layers underneath. It should hold up for all but the coldest days. Great jacket overall.

I love this jacket. Everything about it feels high quality from the zips to the stitching. The only problem I had was it felt too bulky around the stomach it would be nice if it was a bit more fitted.

This jacket is light and comfortable. It also has a very formal look. I wear this jacket to work, and no one ever noticed it is infact a waterproof hardshell. The hidden hood works great during rain. As a matter of fact, I've stood 40 minutes in pouring rain and my upper body didnt get wet at all. Highly recommend this to people who are looking for functional outdoor jacket that can be worn to work.

The jacket looks great for urban use and looks like it will also do well when going on a rainy hike. It is a very well made jacket to help keep you dry. I like the collar and the hood.

Buyer beware - the fit of this jacket is NOT Trim Fit. Even though the website says it is, when the jacket comes, the label will clearly read regular fit, and the jacket is indeed a regular fit. For anyone expecting the slim lines that we've come to expect from Arc'teryx, you will be somewhat disappointed. I am thin with an athletic build and regular sized shoulders. The small fits well around the shoulders, but there is definitely a bit of bagginess around the trunk. Not a problem if you intend to layer beneath - I can fit my cerium LT quite comfortably under this shell. I do have a long-ish neck so I quite like the tall collar but anyone with a shorter one (or maybe even normal length neck) may find it a bit much when zipped all the way up. Otherwise, happy with the shell insofar as construction, quality. Functions good enough for what I bought it for - city wear in the PNW without wanting to look like I'm climbing a mountain every day.

I bought this jacket as a waterproof city jacket. The goretex is not overly stiff and is not too loud. The hood works well, but when packed makes the collar feel bulky. I wish it had a detachable hood instead of a collar hood. There are no arm vents so it can get a bit hot if you are cycling or doing anything more active. I would like to see something in-between an AR and this with a detachable hood.

I'm not so much a fan of the jackets with the large chest logo so I was glad to find this jacket after a friend recommended it to me. The stowaway hood makes the jacket look a lot more sleek but it doesn't lose it's functionality in the rain. The only complaint I have is that the collar is very stiff and high since it has the stowaway hood. I guess you gotta compromise.

Great jacket! It looks far better than any other urban rain jacket I've tried. This is due to the seams being barely visible, and the hidden pocket zips! My one complaint would be with regards to the pockets. The pockets are essentially made out of the space between the layers of the jacket, so there is no bulk, which is great. This also means large pockets, as the pockets end where the seams are. The bellowed hand pockets are nice, and work well. I wear a size S. The zip on the chest pocket could be a bit longer, given how big the pocket is. This might not be a problem on bigger sizes. I think there should be a chest/interior pocket on the other side. Given how the pockets are constructed an inside pocket might not be possible (not sure if the inner layer can take the stress of a zip), but there could be an outside chest pocket on the right, so you'd end up with a symmetric jacket. I'd buy the jacket again if they did that - it would become the perfect jacket for me! Finally, since it's an urban jacket, a key clip or an O-ring would be nice in one the hand pockets.

I have owned the interstate jacket for over 2 years, I wanted a more professional looking hardshell. I originally purchased the A2B jacket, but was poor fitting for my short stocky build. The A2B was also too cycling specific. I exchanged it for the Interstate jacket which fit perfectly over a dress shirt, a sweater and even insulated pieces like the Atom LT and Cerium LT. I have always been very please with the clean lines and looks of this jacket. I've always imagined it to be the one jacket you would need for travel and trips, sadly I feel it is heavier than it needs to be. My Size L weight 15.5 oz, which 3 oz heavier than the Beta LT and 3.5 oz heavier than the Alpha FL. I wonder if the N70P face fabric is even necessary for an urban centric piece, I feel as if the N40P face fabric found in the Zeta LT with C-knit backer can more than handle the demands on such a piece for both urban and outdoor activities. Ones stowed the hood, which is made of N70P tend to be stiff. Perhaps N20P fabric used in the Norvan GTX would serve as a better stow hood. The main adjustment is all you need. I would also suggest adding some 3M reflective surfaces to the back and brim of the hood. I also find that the left chest pocket is not really necessary and would best be replaced by and internal chest pocket similar to those in the Beta LT and Zeta LT series. The cuffs though nice can be update to those found on the A2B which have reflective 3M surface. Buttons can be added to the foldable cuff to allow for adjustment for added wind and weather protection when using the jacket for cycling or outdoor activities such as; skiing, hiking and even some iceclimbing. I believe that an Interstate SL is in order and could be marketed as the most versatile jacket offered. This would the needs of today's traveling professionals who neither can afford to pack additional weight or have the space to accomodate more clothing. I magine that this piece can weight in between 10-12 oz for a size M-L If Arcteryx makes it I will certainly be purchasing it. I'm sure others would too.
