As boots go, they were stiff when I got them, but I've been walking around in them for about two weeks now and they have definitely broken in - give them time, they will break in! I went on a ten mile hike yesterday with these in about 30 degree weather and my feet never felt cold! I also tested how waterproof they were, I could walk across a shallow stream no problem. I like the height, it will be good when the snow comes. I was between this pair and cheaper versions of this boot, but went with this one because it had the metal hooks instead of plastic ones. I wanted the gusset hooks specifially because it offers easier adjustability to the fit (sometimes I like it tighter, sometimes looser around my leg). I tend to like my shoes wider (especially in the toe box) and columbias have served me well. I am typically a size 7 1/2, I ordered size 8 for good measure, I have plenty of room - I could probably have fit in the 7 1/2 but the 8 fits fine with some extra room for second pair of socks if needed. They really don't look too bulky, I really like the look - they fit under boot cut jeans just fine!

I bought a size 8, which fit just fie, but I had a heck a time getting one of my feet out of the boot so plan on exchanging for an 8.5. Love the look, light-weight feel, construction. The only negative would be that the laces are very short! I was unable to tie them if I used the top hook, had to go down one.

The boots are unquestionably waterproof. I stood foot deep in icy slush and no water seeped in. They are pretty warm, although standing around they did get a little chilly but if I had been moving they probably would have been fine. They are so stiff and sturdy that it is impossible to walk and bend your ankle. So if that is something that you are in to, these might not work for you. So they are really difficult to drive in. The top digs into your leg whenever you bend it. I have no idea how these would ever loosen up or get broken in, because they are exceptionally well made. Perhaps too much so. Ultimately there is a lot of potential here, but I am too dependent on bending my ankles when I walk. Also I went up half a size and they fit with no room for thick socks.

I bought these to wear at work on snowy days and they were so comfy and kept my feet dry. I have to walk a lot of hills and stairs and didn't once slip. Yes, they are a little stiff at first so I wore them around the house to help break them in. Worked great and by the time we had our first snow storm they were perfect. I have very narrow feet so getting in and out was no problem, the laces were a little short but once I adjusted them a bit I had more length to tie them and they didn't come undone the whole 14 hours I wore them that day. Our temps dipped into single digits that day and I had no complaints from my feet they were toasty.

Great general use winter boot. I used snowshoeing many times and they kept my feet nice and toasty.

Well made boots, I ordered a half size larger than I wear. I wanted roomy and I like thick socks. The only negative thing I have to say about these boots is that the boot laces are too short, no way could I tie a single bow at the top of the boot, let alone a double knot. I had to buy longer laces.

Really good boots. I live in Maine and even though this year's winter isn't particularly harsh, it's still Maine. The boots are comfortable, warm, have enough breathing room and keep my feet dry. Oh, and they look good.

I was searching for a boot that was warm, waterproof, and has great traction. After much research, I decided this boot was the answer. And it did not disappoint! I have shoveled snow and hiked in these boots in 15 degree weather. They kept my feet warm and dry, and it was very easy to walk on slippery spots. They are stiff, but loosen up in time. I usually wear a size 8.5W so I purchased these in a 9, and they fit fine. If I wanted to wear very heavy socks, though, a 9.5 might be needed. I truly love these boots!

These boots are the best, they are lightweight and warm. If you're looking for a good snow boot that is like a hiking boot then this is it. These are warm, they look great and feel great. I have been looking for a good snow boot, that is like a hiking boot, I am tired of the big pac boots that are heavy and just don't quite keep your feet warm. These boots seem to be very well made and the boots are tall, perfect for snow. My feet get cold easily and these boots keep my feet nice and warm. They are very comfortable and just need a little bit of time to break them in, but that is usual for any hiking boots. Thank you Columbia for making a great boot at a really good price. Well worth the money.

If you need a pair of real snow boots, this is a good choice! I acquired a pair of tall Uggs this year and I was thinking they were the perfect winter boot, until I slipped on a patch of ice while walking the dog. My 10 year old Bugaboots were cracked and hardened, so it was Zappos to the rescue. The redesigned Bugaboots are more comfortable and taller, but just as one of the reviewers said, the laces are too short! You cannot lace them all the way up and still tie the laces. Maybe that is the way they intended the boots to be worn, and it does work fine that way.

Cannot seem to find a good fit with this boot. It seems very warm, but the 8 is too sloppy even with two pairs of socks and the 7.5 crushes my toes. The boot is stiff and I understand it will give over time, I just don't think I want to suffer through the break-in period.

This boot is well made and i am sure it is warm and waterproof. However, it is so stiff and high in the shaft that you cannot walk in them. This is more like a ski-boot rather than a snow boot.
