I couldn't decide between the new outerboroughs parka & this women's arctic parka, so I ordered them both. I had planned to send one of them back, but ended up keeping both because I actually loved both coats so much. If you are only going to purchase one coat though, the arctic parka is my favorite, and it was about $150 less expensive. I wore this coat in single digit temperatures with high winds and I stayed perfectly warm. I absolutely love this coat and it fits very well and true to size, even with bulky sweaters on underneath. The outer boroughs parka is VERY slightly warmer in the upper body, but the arctic parka fits closer to the body at the bottom part, so seems to keep drafts from the bottom out a little bit more. The arctic parka has velcro for the flap closure once you get it zipped up, whereas the outer boroughs parka has snaps. For me, I like the velcro a little better because its just faster. You do have to be a little careful if you have a sweater on that the velcro doesn't stick to the sweater when you are first putting the coat on, but it's not difficult to manage. The fabric on the arctic parka is slightly less stiff feeling, which makes movement in it a little bit easier. This is a beautiful, functional coat and is exactly what I was looking for. If I could only have one heavy winter coat, this would be the one.

I live in WI and the winter is harsh! This coat keeps me warm and is very figure flattering. I find many winter coats are bulky. A must buy! You will not regret this purchase!

I bought this parka for my daughter-in-law as she needed a warm coat for sitting at cold winter baseball games where she lives. I was concerned when it arrived because it seemed so lightweight. She assured me it is very warm. She is tall and very slender (maybe size 4), but wanted a medium to allow for layering. Seems to have plenty of room for heavy sweater underneath. Hood is nice and substantial.

Best jacket for cold climates. Great wind resistance and the length help to keep you warm!

Got this for my wife. She loves it so far. It has been keeping her warm during the cold and windy winters here in Idaho. We would buy this again.

Best purchase! Lightweight and keeps me very warm. Great color! Pockets are lined which keep my hands warm when I forget my gloves Long enough to keep chill grom my legs but easy to move in. Fits like a glove easy to work and hike in it!

I bought this coat for my wife who is very picky about her outerwear. I knew the weather in the northeast is inhospitable at times so I chose this coat for her. She is beyond happy with it and states it's too warm at times, mind you we are averaging 20 degrees here so far. Very happy I went with his coat.

I am loving this winter coat. It's kept me nice and warm during this Midwest winter. I like the deep pockets and the 2 way zipper. I got the gray color and it's really cute. I feel like I'm wearing a down blanket around, it's the best winter coat I've had. I would highly recommend!

I love how warm this parka is and the hood actually stays up and blocks the wind! Great for walking the dog in the winter and comes in cute colors!

I love walking around the city in winter however a really warm coat is necessary.

Lightweight, yet durable and very warm for cold New England winters. I especially like the windproof component as this is helpful with wind chill. One suggestion I would have is adding brighter color options.

Winter ni NYC. Super warm (sometimes gets too warm you sweat ). Worth the price. Just runs a bit long for my height which is 4'11 (an inch or two above my knee) but other than that, it works. Tried it on 13 degrees celcius.

This is an excellent winter jacket. I am from the tropics and came straight into the midst of a New York winter. This jacket makes me feel like I am wrapped in a. warm blanket. Great for snow, wind and rain. Its generous pockets also mean I don't always have to carry a bag!

This jacket is amazing for the Chicago winters, I love the length and there is room for layers.

The best jacket I have owned. Very flattering and I get many compliments when I wear it. The jacket keeps me warm during the cold Minnesota winter.

I absolutely love how warm this jacket is. I wanted something to cover my legs without being too long that it would be a pain to walk in. The hood is large and warm. In addition to the warmth of the jacket ... I love the color - minimal grey. It really looks more like a very light purple. I've received several compliments since I started wearing it. The one thing to note is that if you follow the size chart I would wear a small, but after receiving the small there was no way I could wear a bulky sweater underneath, so I returned the small and ordered the medium ... much better fit with something bulky underneath.

I love this parka! I took a teaching job in Alaska this year and have been freezing my toolies off during morning bus duty. Now, warm and cozy in my new parka, I can greet the students without shivering! Thanks NorthFace for making bus duty in the arctic so much more enjoyable!
