I've had this bag for about a month and can guarantee you that you'll be satisfied. Although this backpack comes at a steeper price for those of us that are planning on using it for something such as school, but you pay for quality and it's definitely worth it. The Borealis is extremely stylish, I purchased the TNF Black w/ Fiery Red zipper combination, and it's gorgeous. Not only are the colors superb, but the design itself is genius ; you can't go many places without getting compliments. I used this bag for everyday school use at my highschool, where on average I carried a protein shake bottle, a camera, multiple bits & pieces for some of the courses I'm taking, a 2inch binder, 3 notebooks and a book to read in this bag COMFORTABLY. Not only did everything fit, but I had space so that nothing was super tightly packed in there. Durability of this bag so far is great. I research all of my products before I purchase them and haven't seen anyone have a problem with the durability of this bag. What I CAN assure you is that this bag was created with superb design as in materials. Couldn't be better. The comfort of this bag is great compared to every other bag I used prior to this. The back panels are great, and the shoulder straps are as comfortable as a bag can get. Comfort-wise, this backpack can AGAIN be described as SUPERB. Price - 4/5 Style - 5/5 Space - 5/5 Comfort - 5/5 Durability - Too soon to tell, but so far I can say that you'd have trouble finding a flaw in the design of this backpack. Materials are definitely a 5/5

i use this for school and day trips and it exceeds all expectations. the laptop sleeve is great piece of mind, and the little pockets fit school supplies as well as gear for a day hike. love that you can store away the hip straps when not needed and the pack is light weight. the cord on the outside easily holds a pair of shoes as long as you have a normal shoe size. everyone on my campus seems to have a north face back pack and its easy to see why. it looks just as good as it performs.

This bag is perfect! I can fit all of my things in it including 3 binders, 2 textbooks, and a folder. Its very durable and has good strong zippers. It is extremely padded. I have a bad back from soccer and it releives my pain tremendously. I recomend it to highschool and college students if theu need a good durable bag.

I attend medical school and this backpack offers ample room for a 13' laptop, scrubs, and two textbooks. It has plenty of pockets to keep everything organized and the side pockets hold my coffee decanter well.

I am a 5' 2" girl, so this backpack does look a little big on me but it fits all of my needs! i bought this backpack for college because i needed something that I could fit my laptop and notebooks in, and still have room for a wallet, water bottle, and other things. I have a 15" MacBook Pro and it's a tight squeeze, but it does fit in the laptop sleeve in the backpack (and its padded in the back and at the bottom, which I really like). There's enough room for a couple notebooks (or two binders and a book) and it's deep enough that you could stack things if you wanted to. The smaller pocket is really nice for my calculator, pens, etc. And the front zip pocket is nice because I can stick my keys and some other small things in it. Overall, I am very happy with this bag! It also claims to be waterproof, which is really nice because I can wear it overtop my rain jacket when the weather gets wetter and not have to worry about my papers getting soaked. I would recommend this to all of my friends!

This was back to school gift...my granddaughter is so happy with all the places to pack her books and such. They have no lockers so she must carry all books and her computer. Drinks in the mesh side pockets and her lunch tucks in...it is incredible how much fits and how light it is carrying it around. I bought one for her older sister and that is how she decided she wanted one also.

This backpack is stellar. The first one I bought (in a beautiful dark maroon color) got stolen from my home. I was almost more sad about the stolen backpack than the laptop! Just kidding. But, I went out and bought another one last week in the gray color, and I love it. Everything about this backpack is well made. It wasn't even a question of whether I would get another Borealis after the first one was looted. It was "what color will I get next time?" Love it, would recommend it to anyone.

I just bought the pack and have been using it for just over 1 week. The only uses for it to this point have been to carry my laptop, several folders, and a few books. The quality of the bag is superb - just as you would expect from TNF. My opinion about the bag as a school bag is that this is a fine product for that purpose. The main compartment is not huge, but sufficient if you only carry a computer and a few smaller books / folders. As a day pack, the bag would suffice for minimal supplies and preparation gear. The elastic bungee on the back is handy, the water bottle pockets on the side are sufficient for a Nalgene to fit comfortably, the straps and back panel are comfortable, and the bag has water resistant properties. Overall I am very pleased with this product.

I purchased the Borealis in Glo Green for my son who is in 7th grade. His previous backpack was falling apart due to the weight he carries to school... He loves Borealis - says he does not feel the weight of the books! This is my first NF purchase and I am very happy.... Will come back to NF for more. Thank you NF.

There's lots to like about the Borealis backpack, as others have said, so I won't repeat all the positives here. But, there's a few things I don't care for. The stiff back piece is also quite bendy, so if the pack is not full and sitting vertically on your lap (as when riding the city bus), the back bends like a banana, not to mention the bottom edge of the back board digging into my legs. It's the same when standing the pack up on the floor or somewhere, it just bends. Another thing, I don't use the waist straps so I removed them, but then I've got these two stupid-looking buckles (or whatever they're called where the straps attach) still hanging at the corners there. Who uses waist straps anyway? I wish it didn't have them at all, or they could be completely removed. Finally, I find the pack overall is about 1 inch too tall. It wouldn't matter except that stiff back piece tends to bump and hook into the belt I'm wearing on my pants, which is quite annoying, and I don't understand why it needs to be quite so tall. Apart from these complaints, the pack is great In every other way I can think of, durable, stylish, convenient, etc.

i have used this product for school for almost a year, and honestly it makes me feel so organized and prepared for every day because of the vast amount of storage space! carrying what feel like 20 pounds of books and things, i wouldn't call it comfortable, but the back support makes it bearable. overall super cute and stylish too!

I love this backpack, and I'm very happy with it! The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't stand up, which gets kind of annoying since I use it for school. Also, I got my backpack in white with coral detailing. It's super pretty but it's really hard to stay clean. I guess I should have been smarter and not gotten white! :)

I've used this backpack for travel and hiking. I love it for both. I got the charcoal color with purple accents. It was exactly what I was looking for. It's very nicely made and I think I'll be able to use it for a long time. The only thing that I didn't care for was the stiff back. I can't set it down without it falling over forward.

I love this product for my schools back pack! It holds everything I need and I stay very well organized. I have had this backpack just over a year and I have noticed in begin to tear at the bottom and sides of the inside.

Very nice and sturdy product. Bought this for my middle schooler. But it doesn't have enough room for all of her folders, and she doesn't even have large binders or textbooks. Would definitely recommend for sporting or leisure, but not for school.

I love this backpack. I have had it for about 1.5 years now and I take it almost everywhere. It is perfect to take on family trips or vacations, to conventions, to camp, and to school. the bag is fairly roomy how every it would be nice if it where a little bigger because during the school year I have to squish my 1inch binders to go back into the bag. the tablet sleeve in the middle pocket fits my surface pro 4 perfectly. however be warned that if the bag is over filled in the main pocket has to many books or binders the tablet pocket can be strained causing the tablet screen to crack. After the bag was broken in a little it was very comfortable. lastly I love that the bag is waterproof so I don't have to worry about by computer getting ruined when it is raining or snowing however if something is pressed against eh zipper when its raining it does get a little damp.

I love this backpack. Ive used a North Face Borealis for the past three years and i'm getting a new one this year only because I want a new design. The only con I have about this is the back pocket isn't thick enough and its hard to wash.

I bought this backpack two years ago and i am still in love with it. Nothing on the backpack has broken in those two years and i have never once had the urge to replace it. This is the perfect backpack for a college student that also enjoys weekend hikes. I regurlarly load this backpack between 30-50 ibs worth of textbooks and what not and it still feels comfortable on my back. the built in laptop sleeve is also amazing. My only complaint is that sometimes my shoulder hurts while wearing it, but i think that is due to the fact that the straps are not exactly matching in length. Overall, it's a great pack i would highly recommend.

Well I've just bought this so as the header says " time shall tell" but I have to say great internal design with plenty of little pockets which is exactly what I need, the laptop pocket is a very nice soft material which I just know is going to be kind to my msi Apache pro. However it feels extremely tight like they designed it for another well known brand in mind. Given I have a fairly bulky laptop I can't really complain too much and I'm sure it break it in with time! My only niggle is also strangely enough one of this laptops stand out features, and that is it feels strangely stiff on the back. I actually was a little dissapointed when I got it outside swapped all my gear from my old berghaus ( broken zip from contacting corners of laptop, which this pack shouldn't have since the zips aren't as constrained by laptops shape) and put this on to try it out, I honestly thought none of the padding was in contact with my body because of the stiff feeling it has. Rather like wearing a board on your back, I'm going to put this down to having a different make of backpack and time shall tell! And how also a outstanding feature? Well no sooner had I put it on then I realised OMG where's my laptop! I must have left it in cafe Nero! But I swear to god when I took my new backpack off it got reassuringly heavier as the weight shifted from my shoulder to my hand :) it was almost like some kind of Darren brown mind trick like I'd been deceived to its true weight by the power of hypnosis! So yeah sits nicely on the back at the same time. So only time can tell .

The pocket options are nice. You can fit bottles, keys and computers in their own spaces. The bag is very sturdy - almost too stiff. The zippers go down half way - easy to pack things down in but have to pull everything out then.
