I was looking hard for a backpack for college because I hadn't found one that I loved yet looks-wise, had a large capacity, or looked like it was going to have a supportive back and straps. This backpack originally caught my eye because of the color combination and print on it, but I wasn't sure if it would actually be big enough until I got it. It is super spacious and will easily hold 4 textbooks and a few notebooks and folders along with calculator, pencils, pens, etc. I was pleasantly surprised. The back padding and strap padding is unmatched by any other brands (Nike, under armour, patagonia that I looked at) as well. I also think the zipper quality and fabric durability seems superior to other brands after looking at many other backpacks. The water bottle holder is very stretchy and fits my large hydro flask water bottle. Even though its made of mesh, it is knit very tightly so I am doubtful it will rip. Very happy with purchase along with rewards points I got $16 off so I couldn't be happier. I would say full price isn't even that bad though either because this backpack will last forever

I've owned my Recon backpack for upwards of four years now, and it's easily the most sturdy, reliable and functional pack I've ever owned. I carry so much stuff for school on a daily basis, there are some days I can't pick up my bag with one hand because it's so heavy. But after years of constant use and very heavy loads, this bag hasn't ripped, torn, or let me down once. It has shielded my laptop and books from the constant Oregon downpour and fits everything I need easily and in an organized fashion. Though I may eventually upgrade to a new pack, I will surely be returning to TNF to purchase it, as they have definitely proven to me that they make quality products that last through any and everything - I highly recommend this bag!!!

This is my favorite backpack I've ever owned. I can't speak to the color being accurate or not, mine is two years old. However, this pack is so comfortable and practical and I use it for college, my day camp job, and for day hikes. It has been a lifesaver for my back having two straps, especially when I'm carrying lots of water and/or books. I love the laptop sleeve for my macbook; it feels very secure and safe if I knock into something with my pack. The two water bottle holders are convenient and hold a nalgene which is really important to me. The front pocket is great for wet clothes or anything you don't want inside your bag. The little pocket is great for a phone and a few other small necessities. Great organization inside. I am a little sad that it's wearing out already, as I've only had it two years, but I do wear it 300 days a year I'd say so I guess that isn't too shabby! I could certainly get a lot more use out of it, but the bottom is starting to pill and the water bottle pockets have very very small holes in them now. It is no longer nice enough to wear on campus, but I'll keep it for outdoor adventures!

This is my everyday, for everything bookbag. I am a teacher and I carry around a lot of STUFF. My lunch, books, papers, games, etc. I can fit everything in this bag and never worry about the zipper breaking because it's too full. It never looks huge, either! I have taken this bookbag with me as a personal item on planes and it has been my lifesaver to pack everything that I need outside of my carry-on! I love it. I see it lasting many more years.

This product is amazing! not only does it have great padding, which prevents back pain, but it also has great storage compartments that help you stay organized. This product is very durable and holds all of the things that you would need every day. I recommend this product because it will help you stay comfortable and happy while you are completing your day to day activities. bottom line..... GET THIS PRODUCT!!!!

Everything was great about this book bag and how spacious it was with a lot of useful pockets. I used this for 2 years in a row and is getting it again for school!

Awesome backpack. Very versatile, comfortable, and durable. I used mine as a day pack in Europe and had no problems. Plenty of storage.

I've had for about 3 years now and still looks good!! I taken this bag traveling in and outside the country. And I love that it's have the multiple pockets and it even just looks good. (Got mine in all black)

This is a great backpack! I returned it only because it is a bit bigger than I need at the moment, and I would have kept it if it was slightly smaller. I ordered one each of the Women's Borealis and the Women's Recon in order to compare them. The Borealis is smaller at 25L, compared to the Recon's 31L. The Recon is slightly taller than the Borealis. I wish they made a 25L version of the Women's Recon, because I love the partial mesh pocket in the front. I will keep this backpack in mind if I am ever in the market for something a bit bigger! This backpack would probably be good for a student or commuter who has to carry a lot: a computer, a bunch of binders, books or textbooks, and maybe some additional clothing and/or sneakers. It would probably be great for weekend trips too. The straps were very comfortable and the bag felt very sturdy.

The absolute best backpack I have ever owned. I take this this everywhere with me, on my motorcycle, to work, to the gym, to the beach and everywhere I travel. It's been all over the world with me and has held up for about 6 or 7 years now. It has really been beaten up by the sun, dragging it around, rain, sweat, blood, salt water, mud...it's been through it all. The only signs of wear is the water resistant lining is starting to peel off the edges of the secondary compartment, and the stash pocket elastic is stretched out. Also, there's some fading on the fabric from the sun. One of the buckle clips cracked on one side, but it's still functional! I would love to buy another one, but the one I have still works fantastically well. A+ bag. I love it.

I love this backpack. I have a couple of work trips coming up, needed something to travel with that was easier to carry than a tote or purse, and my husband's backpack (also North Face and 10+ years old, still in awesome condition) doesn't fit well on my back. The padding is very comfortable and the curve in the straps really make it fit a women's body better. I also find myself using it a lot for day trips out with my kids. Big enough to fit everything you need but still feels light. Bought one for my mom as well since she's traveling a lot in the next year and she loves it too!

This backpack is well made and good looking. It's not bulky at all when it comes to the volume it can be filled with. You definitely get what you pay for in quality! I'm a full-time college student who totes around books, and workout gear everyday who needs a backpack that can carry deal with the load. This bag can carry a great amount of items, and still feel comfortable compared to other bags under heavy conditions. I highly recommend this backpack to anyone who wants to upgrade from their previous backpack. a

I really love this back pack. It was really easy to reach in and pull my laptop out when going through security, no fuss. Which to me was amazing because I always feel rushed through air port security. It held everything I needed as a carry on and more.. So it's probably my fault it was heavy. But the chest and waist straps help disturbed the weight across your body. It has good organization. I'm not sure it is supposed to be water proof, but after walking 6 blocks in the poring rain in New Zealand nothing inside my bag was wet! The back pack itself dried off quickly and nicely with a nice wipe down by a towel. I could fold my sweatshirt and put in it the front stash area. (Which is also amazing when traveling.) All and all very very pleased with this backpack. Will continue to use it for work at home in Nebraska!

This backpack is amazing! So many of the backpacks that are made for women are not large enough and I feel like I am using a kids backpack. I am an adult and use this backpack to transport my laptop and other items to and from work and when I travel. The bag size is great, I have fit both a 13inch and a 15 inch macbook with ease at the same time. two pockets on the side each fit a 32oz nalgene water bottle. Just enough room with out feeling bulky. The bag is also optimized for women and has special padding in the straps and back that make this super comfortable to use.

Totally worth it! high quality and lots of space really well divided inside and outside the bag. Easy to carry on and comfortable if you are going to spend long time walking or hiking

I use this for everyday use to go to school and I absolutely love this backpack, it's extremely comfortable and it has really good padding on the back. It can handle both heavy and light loads with the clips on the backpack. It looks good and it's high quality. You can't go wrong with this product.

I won't lie. I bought this backpack for school, not hiking. I already own a hiking backpack but when my trustworthy jansport split at the seams I knew I needed to make a new purchase. I researched online and compared shops, prices and online reviews unendingly. Here's what it came down to: I trust Northface. Pound for pound some of the best equipment and clothing out there. I knew if I did the research and found a product from Northface that met my specifications it would get the job done, and it does. I was looking for a lightweight backpack that could carry some heavy loads, a laptop sleeve, and a water bottle sleeve. The front pocket is perfect for all my extras: calculator, pens, name tags, even an extra scrub top! An additional thing I wasn't looking for that pleasantly surprised me: the zippers are thick and sturdy. I feel like my belongings are secure. Also, I'm always surprised by how light and natural the fit feels. If you're agonizing over your backpack purchase, fret not. Look up your specifications and you can find something at Northface that is not only good quality, but it will last a long time.

I use this product for school, as well as for going on hikes or shooting guns. It is. Very organized and has compartments that can be used for a variety of items. It has a nice computer sleeve, as well as sleeves for phones or tablets. It's a decent size and feels very well made. I bought this one because my hipster backpack disintegrated after a mere 5 years!
