I have terrible bunions and was worried that I wouldn't be able to go on long hikes as I get older but these boots have helped to alleviate the pain of long hikes. I did a couple of hikes in Banff/Canmore with these boots and felt no discomfort. I would definitely recommend these boots

I have been hiking and backpacking in these boots for almost an entire season. They arrived in the late summer of 2015 and their innagural was a three day backpack in the Enchantments region of Washington. This is a storied hike including a rather epic ascent up over Assgard Pass going up 2,000 ft in ~ 3/4 mile. This is super fun with an overnight pack on your back over rough trail and some nasty scree. They did great and I had zero hot spots or blisters three days and 21 miles later. These boots provide excellent support, stability, and traction over a variety of trail conditions. I have had them on scree, mud, scrambles, and normal summer trail conditions. The water proof Gore-Tex liner lives up to expectations - you can step fully into a creek and retain dry socks. My favorite aspect though is the breathability. I have also suffered from sweaty feet for years in the usual leather hikers. These boots allow enough air flow to avoid this issue and allow me to avoid the end of day wet sock enjoyment. This is awesome.

One of the best shoes I have ever had. Amazing comfort and stability. I've been using for half a year, all day hikes without a problem. Love it.

Well how do i start this review?.........Ive climbed a few mountains here in Wales in the past few weeks. It has been a total pleasure while wearing these shoes.
Ive had these boots totally submerged in water to test them and I am still blown away how my feet are kept 100% dry! Honestly I am just blown away. With other boots I have used over the years that are Goretex I always went home with wet feet, but not in these boots!!
They are very light weight and comfortable. Plenty of grip in mud and wet rocks. On dry rocks they feel like the grips are made of glue, so sticky....
If your reading this review you must be thinking of buying these. don't waste time just buy them.
Thats my picture below of me testing them in the snow

Unlike the other reviewer I was 100% aware these are the ones without a removable liner......hence cheaper. I figured back in the real world I would never actually wish to remove and potentially lose a liner - if my boots get wet, like every other boot they just go someplace to dry.
The fit is worryingly comfortable, but I have had a chance to test them a fair bit and I really like them, you can even wear without socks for example.
It was 30 degrees today and I was paragliding in them, and due to the way the liner fits securely around your ankle I must admit my feet were very sweaty at the end of the day. But that is probably a bonus in cold weather - just not the ideal boot for hot summer hiking - get something lighter and with more ventilation for that.
But they are comfy and I like wearing them, so 5* from me.

I wore these boots for three weeks on Baffin Island, hiking in Auyuittuq National Park. The landscape was rough and there was no trail for most of the hike. The boots were burly and supportive. The GoreTex lining works as promised, but once any wetness made it in through the top, it was nearly impossible to eliminate. I'm not sure if the removable version would help or not. This was not a huge deal with a good pair of wool socks. I also think that adding a gaiter might have helped in the soggy tundra. The build quality is fantastic.
Qualitatively, the feel, fit and comfort are very good, as is the overall structure - these feel light and agile in comparison the the heavier Salomon Quest boots that I also own.

Overall great boots. Very comfortable. There was no need to break the boots in. Offered great support. It was hard to put them on because of the liner.

I live in Arizona and I volunteer for search and rescue so I primarily hike on ruff rocks and desert conditions and sometimes rappel with them. I will concede the terrain in Arizona is some of the toughest terrain you're likely to encounter. I've had the boots less than a year and they're showing severe tread wear. I'm a moderate hiker/backpacker.
I love the boots and the concept. They are a little stiff at first but they break in quickly. They're moderately cool in desert conditions. I'm sometimes forced to hike through cactus and the boots have never been punctured.
Great boots for most people but if you're in the desert southwest you want to give your decision some thought.

I have used these boots for approximately three months, primarily for day hikes with about 20 lbs in my backpack. I have no doubt though they will prove just as effective with 50 plus lb loads on extended backpacking trips.
These boots are "hands down" the lightest and most agile hiking boots I have owned (previously owned Zamberlan Vioz and Asolo Powermatic 200). They are extremely comfortable and quite warm. I wear only a very thin hiking sock and have comfortably hiked in sub zero (Celsius) temperatures.
These boots have a very different "feel" compared to more traditional designs. I have noted more torsional flex in my feet while wearing these boots.
I have noted two drawbacks thus far.
The round laces that come with the boots come untied constantly, despite double knotting.
Also, when used with a gaiter, the gaiter strap around the bottom of the boot contacts the ground and slides around as the sole is quite flat. Previous boots I have used have had more of a groove on the bottom of the sole and this allowed gaiters to fit better. Adding a small groove to the bottom of the sole would allow a gaiter strap to fit seamlessly and not be in constant contact with the ground. I know the design of the boot means a gaiter is not usually necessary, but in very muddy/wet terrain additional protection is desired.

I have incredibly picky feet and bad knees- these boots have been more comfortable for all day use than any other boot I've worn- and I've wasted a lot of money trying different boots! They are very light weight so you aren't lugging extra weight (easy on the knees!), very flexible for rock hoping and scrambling in creeks, yet very stable. I would recommend them to anyone and the sole I'm sure is just a defect and luckily Arcteryx stands behind their gear.

These boots fit very well and perform amazing in dry climate. I used them hiking for 2 weeks in the dry summer in glacier national park and loved them every step. No blisters, minimal wear in time, fairly breathable. However, I used them on the west coast trail in the rain mud and didn't enjoy them much. They gripped the wet roots well and gave me amazing support. But when they got wet they stayed wet, and heavy, and my feet were generally wet. I expect general wet feet in those conditions, but compared to my other hiking friends with cheaper brand boots, these stayed more wet for longer. I put them out in the sun and wind to dry when I was done and it took over a full day to get all the insides dry again. I wish I paid the extra for the version where you can take the inside sock out. I've always had great experience with arc'teryx, this is a first miss for me.

Great boot until you come across water... the liner is a great idea but not having a tongue in this boot lowers the level at which water penetrates the boot. Once water gets in the boot it creates issue. While the sock kept my foot dry the boot was water logged. I expect I would have similar issues walking in snow and as such will leave these boots at home. If this issue was resolved I would own several pair.

I have put in many miles with this boot hoping to change my mind about it. However, I have hiked many different terrains and I am not that impressed. The outer rubber soles provide no traction, I have to constantly watch where I put my foot so that I don't slip. I have never had this issue with a pair of hiking boots. Also, I understand that Gortex greatly reduces breathability, but they have little to none when you start hoofing it. If you're concerned about breathability, opt for the non-Gortex if you can. Finally, the hooks for the laces on the sides of the boot get caught easily on branches and other materials in the field. I'm not clumsy, but this boot makes me clumsy.

Overall I like these boots - they fit well and are comfortable for long periods of time and while carrying weight.
That said, I am really disappointed with how poorly they deal with water (despite the waterproofing working as designed). It seems like a perk, but the liner and outer being separate pieces make them difficult to get in and out of and traps water making them pretty impractical for the Pacific Northwest where I live.
If you will be using them in mostly dry places and some light rain or snow is the worst of the weather you expect they would be great. I would not recommend them for heavy rain or walking on soggy / muddy ground for the reasons stated above. Making this into a one-piece boot with a that opens more for getting the foot in and out would solve both problems and make these boots exceptional.

I've used these boots to trek in Nepal, bushwhacking alpine climbing in the cascades, and mountaineering in the Canadian Rockies. They are pretty waterproof and durable. Have been a great design for throwing on some crampons and doing some summer glacier travel. The rubber works great on the rock, with superior ankle support. There is a caviet, and it's actually an issue there can be burdensome. About every 20 minutes I have to retie the laces even after doubling them. They don't friction when tied, and also loosen around the lace hooks. Seems small, but it's actually a problem. While the laces are durable, they aren't reliable. I shouldn't feel like with as much as I pay for Arc Teryx products, and the expectation I have, I should have to buy a pair of laces for them. Additionally, these laces are designed for the laces clasps on the boot. It's a real issue for quick and light travel to constantly retie the boots. I've noticed others have had this problem with the boots. I am considering another pair since the laces have bothered me this much, but don't know if it'll be a pair of Arc Teryx boots with these laces

I really want to love this boot. The boot feels very solid and has taken almost no wear and tear thus far after the first 24 miles or so of hiking (over two outings). Cleaning it is easy; a bit of water after a hike and it looks practically new. Traction is good, and the weight of the boot is fantastic for the structure and support it gives.
Unfortunately there are two fit-related issues that result in the boot being unwearable for me. First and foremost is heel slippage. I have repeatedly ended up with blasters on the back of my left ankle at the end of hikes. I am wearing good socks and liners when this happens. When climbing steep ascents it's obvious that the back of the boot is rubbing (even scraping) against the back of my ankle. I've tried a variety of lacing configurations to prevent this but haven't succeeded thus far.
The second fit issue has to do with the laminate structure of the boot itself. After both outings I've ended up with slight bruising on the outer side of both legs, right where top of the upper is. After getting about 3 miles in on the trail I begin to notice the pressure being applied by the upper (it tends to feel like something has been wedged in the top of the boot). Unfortunately I haven't found a solution for this particular problem.
I'm willing to believe that a size 10 (versus the 10.5 I have) might alleviate the blister issue on my left ankle. Since I can't return this pair for an alternative size, and given the issue with the upper, I most likely won't try that experiment. It's a pity because I think the overall design of the boot is both fascinating and something I would like to see explored by Arcteryx further.

I bought my Bora Mid GTX walking boots in May 2016 as I was looking for a new pair of boots that are suitable for vegans and had seen these reviewed in a vegan magazine. I thought I'd wear them in various weather conditions before writing a review. I'm a size 4 but I had to buy a size larger than normal as I couldn't even get my foot into the liner of a size 4! The boots are very comfortable and I didn't have any problems with blisters or sore spots. During the hot spells of weather we had last summer the liners stopped my feet from getting too sweaty and they have prevented my feet from getting wet as well (which was one of the main selling points for me). So far so good. The main problem I've had with them is that the soles don't give enough grip on potentially slippery surfaces , such as wet cobbles and frosty pavements. This came to a head one frosty morning just before Christmas when I set out to walk to the bus: in the space of 5 minutes I had nearly fallen flat on my back twice, so I went home to change into my old boots (which cost about a third of the price and don't have Vibram soles but have plenty of grip) and I was fine. I'll be wearing my old boots for the rest of the winter now as I don't feel confident enough to wear the Boras until the weather is a bit drier which is a big disappointment as I'd hoped to be able to wear the Boras all year round. I'm expecting to be able to get about 6 years wear out of these boots but I shan't be buying another pair. Sorry.
