Safe, stylish boots. I live in Boston and worry about slipping on black ice. I didn't hesitate to buy these boots because of the built-in ice cleats. They really work on icy surfaces.

I normally wear a size 9N and ordered the Pajar Lacey boot in a size 39. The fit was perfect while wearing one pair of cushioned sport socks. These apparently run narrow for some, but I liked the fit and the style of these very much. They were comfortable and seemed like they would be really warm outside. I returned them because I thought the outside soles of the boots would offer a deeper tread for walking on snow and ice. Yes, there are retractable ice cleats, but when they are not in use, I questioned whether or not the soles would work for me. I will consider this brand in the future as they seem to offer a well-made product.

Lucky me! After four (!!!) attempts to find a stylish mid-calf winter boot that was both warm and waterproof, I scored with these Pajar boots. I have a very bad big toe and all the other boots cut right across it. These don't. Plus they are easy on, easy off; nice looking; WARM; and best of all, they have Pajar's instant cleats on the bottom of both soles. Slush turns to ice? Flip the cleats into position and instantly you have grip. I am delighted with these boots. And grateful.

Returning these because they seem a little ungenerous in sizing, and something about the inflexible sole bothers my knee. However, they are nice boots and the ice picks in the sole are a very cool idea!

Excellent fit and I love the tie strings' ability to truly custom fit to my ankles. Better than the other model Moscou, which has a velcro wrap (doesn't tighten enough imho). I love the Lacey. Bring on the snow! Can't wait to try the ice grippers!!!

These boots are great - just not what I needed. I needed boots with a higher shaft. .

I really wanted to like these boots for the ice grippers!! I had ordered a tall boot in one size larger based on reviews, but they were too large so I ordered these in my usual size. They were a little narrow, but that would have been okay if not for the poor arch support. I wore them in the house for less than an hour just to make sure and my feet and knees were killing me! I thought the first pair had poor support because they were too large, but that might just be the design. I will try again with another of their styles or wait for next year's ice gripper designs. Very well made and I like that the tongue has "wings" so the whole opening is covered--keeps snow out of the boot. In WI, that is a major plus!

Love the style of shoe, but just felt a little narrow. Appreciate the ease of returning shoes to Zappos so that I can easily shop for my hard to fit feet. Thank you Zappos!

The fit was fine although as I have small feet and most reviewers state the size is snug; my observation of fit might not be accurate for those with average or larger sizes. They keep my feet warm in the freezing temps. My only complaint - and I thought about returning these - is that the photo is deceptive - incorrect - if you are looking for a good tread. The tread is NOT what you see in the photo as what is delivered is the Lacey 2, a newer version of the boot. What is pictured is the Lacey 1, which is what I ordered and wanted - a deeper tread to deal with Boston area winters. I was extremely disappointed to have received the newer version as I specifically looked for the Lacey 1, as pictured. I have sneakers provide more tread. I decided to keep them as the ice grippers appeal - I'm just concerned about durability. My old Timberlands (20+ years old now) have deep treads which were great on snow (not so much on ice); these, when the snow is packed, the ice grippers need to be used or it is slippery (my Timberlands were fine and I suspect the original Laceys, pictured would also have been fine with their deeper tread). I'd prefer to use the grippers only on ice to reduce the chance of breakage, but I'll be having to use them more often with the Lacey 2. I don't know if I'd buy them again - I have to see how long the grippers last.

So these boots fit great and felt like they’d be warm enough for Northeast winters (but i didn’t try them outside) I normally wear a size 9.5W and the 10 fit fine. I bought these boots for light hiking in the winter because of the retractable cleats when it gets icy however, I returned them because I didn’t love the way they looked. I wish Pajar made the retractable cleats for some of their more fashionable styles. Overall it is a good winter boot.
