I had to fully remove the laces to get these on. I have not worn them yet,just tried them on. They do fit over my 17 inch calves but no way can I wear with anything other than leggings,jeans will not tuck in. The plum is a nice color and not so purple that they can't be worn as a neutral color. I usually wear a size 8 in shoes but had to go to a 10 in these boots. They are still hard to get on because I have a very high arch and the zipper doesn't go down far enough to accommodate getting the foot in past the ankle of the boot. A deeper zipper would help.

This boot is one of a kind. I received them last night and of course had to try them on right away. As another reviewer mentioned, the leather smell is delightful. I have pretty slim calves (12.5") and it is very difficult to find boots that are not too wide. The shaft on these boots have a very small circumference and fit nicely around the calves without being saggy or sloppy looking; however, I cannot tie them all the way to the top without gaps between the laces which create a bit of calf chub to show through when no socks are worn. With no socks, I will leave the very tops unlaced. That might be my only complaint - I like the way the boots look in photos when the models tie them to the very top. They were not difficult to get on once I learned to stand up and put them on. Just loosen the laces a bit and gently wiggle your foot into the boot. The side zipper helps. The back "tongue" does tend to slide down when you put the boot on - I just gently pulled it back up. I typically wear a size 6 and ordered a 7 based on other reviews. I could have worn a 6 1/2, but there are no half sizes. I ordered the black and they are lovely and in my opinion, can be worn with casual skirts or a dressier pencil skirt. They do not fit property beneath my skinny jeans, but they may work with leggings. All in all a beautiful, very unique boot.

These boots are so special and amazing. I order a lot of boots and usually end up returning them but I've been looking at these for a few weeks now and despite the price tag I decided to pull the trigger. Best Decision Ever. I think these are the most amazing unique boots I've ever owned. I got the 'grey' color which is really more of a taupey brown but soft and muted to go with practically anything. AHHH best boots ever!

These boots will turn heads guaranteed! Although these boots have a heel, they are still comfortable to wear all day. The boot is slightly more difficult to get on and off with the laces tight around the heel, if you have a high arch but worth the effort. And with all leather, will stretch.

These boots are gorgeous; BUT the laces are a nightmare. One of the boots arrived with the laces all bungle up. I must have spent 2 hours trying to make them right. Its complicated because the laces lay on top of the zipper, making the zipper difficult to access. I finally gave up & they are going back.

Update to earlier review. One of the laces broke the first time I wore my boots so I called and got new boots sent out. Easy peasy. Upon arrival, they are labeled plum leather but I see no purple in them at all, they just look brown. I will try them on and will keep them if all is well with them. The soles have a waxy finish to them which is very slick on hardwood floors. I had to scuff them on the concrete steps to keep from falling. I wore the first pair shopping and they still felt fine after a few hours on my feet, so I am hopeful these can be my signature pair of boots.I have 17 inch calves and these go over my calves fine but I could not tuck in jeans,only leggings, and the lace on the right boot is almost too short.

Gorgeous boot!! The color is amazing! The lace up back add subtle sexiness to this boot! It looks great with my skinnies and dresses! Worth the splurge!

Gorgeous. But I cannot get them on. I wrestled. and wrangled. and cursed the Heavens. Because these boots...the style, the quality, the feel... were meant to be a part of my life. But alas, I just could NOT figure out how to get them on my (slim, flexible) self! I ordered the next size larger, then the next size larger, then the NEXT size larger... nope. farewell to the most beautiful boots in the whole world. 'twas not meant to be.

LOVE these boots! I get compliments every time I wear them. Two things, first, there is no cushion at all, so the balls of my feet are a little sore at the end of the day. Second, sizing is off, I typically wear a 6.5 or 7, but had to buy an 8 in this one.

I first ordered these in navy because I liked the contrast between the boot color and the laces but when I received them it was not as pronounced as in the picture. I also ordered my normal size, a 9 and had completely unlaced them to get them on. I returned the navy for the cognac and ordered a 10 and these one slip right on by simply unzipping them.

I love these SO MUCH! Gorgeous leather and such a unique style, compliments all day long. Comfortable out of the box, I wore them all day. I imagine they'll just get better. I have athletic calves and the laces allow a perfect fit, yay!! A little struggle to get them on with a bare foot but with tights or leggings and a thin sock they slide right on.

These are great boots. However, if you have a high arch (like me) your regular size wouldn't fit. I couldn't get into 9 at all, but ordered a 10 and was very happy with it. Worn it in my Europe trip for 2 weeks almost every day. Amazing style and very comfortable!

These are pretty but they run a full size smaller.

Love the boot but the Grey is more of a Taupe/Brown so I am returning it. Order 1/2 size up as it runs small.

I just received these boots and they are everything I expected except they do not go over the knee. They hit a little awkwardly on me, just about 1/4 of the way up my knee, but they are so awesome I might keep them anyway. I wear a 6.5-7 and the seven I ordered fit like a glove right out of the box. No need to adjust laces, or struggle to get my foot in. For the record I have a shallow arch and exactly a medium width foot.

I purchased these last year the first week they first came out and I adored this pair of boots. The compliments I received alone was worth the price and the fact that they stand out and no one else had them was great. Great quality and it doesn't look like some cheap boots everyone else is wearing. I love the distressed look of these and it's been a year since I purchased these and I am so glad it is fall weather and these dress up any boring outfit and make you look edgy.

WOW - Splurge purchase - BUT bit-it and went for it - NOT disappointed. Love everything freebird - My second pair. Don't know why others are complaining r/t donning them - went on like butter - just a tad snug (I need a little vertical space in the toe-bed) but after allowing the leather to warm they are already forming to my foot; will require just a little break-in period. Try a pair of English riding boots for a challenge getting them on. I digress -- GREAT BOOTS! Can't wait for fall to get some serious wear-time.

Great boots. DEFINITELY runs small. I wear 8 or 8 1/2 I ordered 9 and they just fit. Very unique look which I like.
