I typically wear an 8-81/2 and the 39 narrow fit great. I was a bit concerned about ordering the narrow (it's all that was in stock), but I think I prefer it to the regular. I noticed that I never had to grip my toes, which I tend to do in my other Birks that aren't narrow.

During Covid I got used to slip on shoes so I wanted step in sandals but have never felt confident with an open heal.
These have a cupped heal, that and the overall design seems to be enough to keep my foot in the shoe.

Excellent for wet conditions.
Extremely light, I toss in my pack for changeable conditions, great swap for the leather sandals when things get unexpectedly sandy, muddy or rainy.
