To begin, the inside compartment REALLY NEEDS a sleeve to hold an small umbrella. This is essential for commuters who occasionally encounter rain and need to store an umbrella within their bag at all times.
Lastly... when wearing the bag across my body, I felt the shoulder strap cushion would continually slip off my shoulder. Timbuk2 should consider adding some texture to the cushion so the bag won't slip as much.

I love everything about this bag except for the lack of a secure and easy key area, a key fob clip would be great.

At first, I was a bit worried the large Command Messenger Bag would be a bit too large. Length and height are a bit beyond what I have had in past bags. But, typically carrying two computers, lunch and various work accessories, this bag is just about right. I really like the side pocket where I store a large backup battery and all of the compartments seem well thought out. The strap is comfortable even when loaded and all the nice details are there like silences for the velcro and a strap to slide over a carry-on handle. The one downside is that it is the least flexible bag I have used. Not a deal breaker for day to day use. But, the bag is narrow and trying to put much of anything inside quickly causes the bag to bulge. This normally does not bother me. But, with this bag, the bag will not close unless pretty much completely flat without any bulging or items on the taller side. Seems like this could be easily improved by extending the available closure loops one or two loops further up into the velcro toward the top of the bag. Still, this has become my new day to day bag.

I have been using a bulky Tumi T-Tech laptop bag for a while as my laptop bag/carry on and I wanted to downsize a bit. I picked a medium one of these bags up and loved it when I got it, but once I started loading it up, I wished it would expand outward just a little more. Not roomy enough for my needs. Throw a headset case and other accessories in there and it's jammed. I then bought the large model, but it was too big. It looked like a garment bag. I wish this bag had just another inch or two of expansion. I do love the small zippered pouches. I love it and I'm sticking with it, but did have to lighten the load a bit and move some things to my carry-on clothes bag that goes in the overhead.

Love the bag. It holds all items I carry each day with room to spare. My only complaint is that the "pike" color option isn't well represented on the site. When my bag arrived it is actually black, not "pike".

This, and the other Timbuk2 bags have been great and I have convinced multiple friends to buy them. I had an original messenger bag (still do) and it was super roomy but didn't have enough pockets for daily office use and heavy airline travel. I bought this bag and its wonderful. SO many pockets and secret compartments, it keeps me organized with all my cables, dongles, passport, chargers, laptop, tablet, pens, notebooks, etc. In China, where you have to remove anything with a battery in airport , that means i have to search through all the pockets and empty everything. But here in the US, its perfect for TSA PreCheck. I do wish that the main compartment had just a little more room to stuff raingear, etc and it has a very annoying inability to stand upright on its own...it always wants to fall forward. Overall I'm happy with the bag and will look for another Timbuk2 when its time to replace this one.

Great for everyday commute haul. Miss the roomy back-facing compartment older models had but it's not the end of the world.
The buckle hooks are a bit of a pain but I suspect they'll loosen up with wear.
Overall, solid bag.

Love it but could be just a little wider. My laptop is large so it just squeezes in the zippered part. I checked dimensions and they worked but because of the zipper a bit of the width is lost if that makes sense. No zipper and the laptop would fit perfectly. Now I have to open the all around zipper to use laptop section. Bummer. Great bag though, quality is fantastic.

Bought this bag to replace a Tumi briefcase I have used for decades. Weight was killing me. Was worried there were not enough pockets to store everything I needed on the road. I had to thin out some of the things I bring but hardly use; would love to see more pockets in the Timbuk2.
Would be great if they had a pocket/storage are for headphones...would give it 5 stars then

I bought this bag for a large laptop. I used the fit guide on the website and ordered the bag that it said to. I wish I had ordered a size larger. The laptop does fit but it is extremely tight. With the laptop in the bag the top handle sits to the side, I can not use the Velcro rain tabs, and I can hardly fit the charge cable in with it. There is no padding on the bottom so you have to be very careful setting the bag down with a laptop in it. I do love the bag, I just wish it were larger and more padded.

I really enjoy the small Command Messenger Bag. It is quite stylish and quite roomy. My only comment is that its missing the usually standard red key ring strap to store your keys as when you go through TSA.

I take this with me to work daily. I work in multiple environments (office and hospital) and it works well. It holds all I need, including a laptop, some small reference books and a few other things.
The only problem I found with it is that the 'Oxide and Adobe' coloring is darker than what is shown. I looked at it on multiple devices, all with different screens and it was a lighter gray on all of them. It still looks nice, it just wasn't quite the color I expected.

This bag is almost perfect. Great quality, which I've always seen from Timbuk2. Lot's of compartments, some I didn't even find until a few days after using the bag, also love the general structure of the compartments. The bag also fits really well and is comfortable to carry.
I say almost perfect because my only complaint is the metal buckles on the front. I understand wanting the bag to be secure, especially when riding/walking, but I think the buckles are too secure making it difficult to get in and out of the bag. Maybe a slightly less aggressive hook at the end would solve the issue.

Great for day and airplane travel. The strap's color, however, is to dark and not standout as in pictures

Plenty of room for everything yet does not feel bulky when packed. If I had to be picky...I wish it had a business card pocket and a large see thru mesh pocket. Great product either way.

I use this the medium size of this product to transport my laptop and charger for my job as a software developer. Every day, I walk about a mile to and from my office while wearing the bag. I have a Macbook Pro with a Retina screen, which is a bit of a tight fit in the bag with the other things I carry. But aside from not being able to comfortably fit as many things as I would like, this is a great bag for travel.

I really love your bags, Timbuk2. I was glad to receive this one (my third) as a gift.
I really love the computer and iPad sleeves.
I would appreciate more interior zipper compartments and a divider within the main compartment, and please put the red ribbon key latch on all your bags! (If you send me a red ribbon, I'll find a way to attach it myself!)

I tested this on a recent business trip. I had my laptop, 2 cell phones and all the other stuff I needed for a short trip. One down side is that it is a bit big to fill under the seat in Coach. I have a backpack that fits better under the seat. The thing I like about it, though, is that it has a place for everything and has the TSA-approved pouch for laptop and Kindle. The side compartment for the laptop power supply is a bit snug; have to take the cables apart to make it fit.

I purchased this yesterday at the NOHO store in NYC as I was looking for a proper laptop bag for traveling. In which I felt this was a good fit for what I wanted. As far as the bag is concerned there is not much to complain about right now. I am however very disappointed to find out just now these are not made in the USA. This is my third Timbuk2 bag, the first from 2003 and the second from 2007 both those bags are made in USA so I did not think twice or even bother to ask or to research the country of origin when I made the decision to purchase this, that was my mistake. This is very disappointing purchase for me because I chose Timbuk2 specifically because it is USA made and finding out my bag isn't after I purchased it just ruined any joy I had for the bag.

Love the fact that it's recycled material. You wouldn't know by looking at it that it's made from recycled material. The pockets on the outside that you can slip things in quickly are great for when you have to go through metal detectors. Put your keys and cell phone in and go. I'd like to see a clip inside to hold keys, my previous bag from another co. had one and I miss it. The mesh pocket on the outside is small so if you like to use anything but a small bottle you're out of luck.

I like this bag, but the TSA compliant computer compartment reduces the capacity in the main bucket. If you want to carry bulkier items go with a Classic Messenger.

This is my 2nd Command Messenger. The small size carries all my essentials for business travel, and makes navigating TSA security a breeze. It's well made and durable. I'd like to see a few more internal pockets, and a key hasp; like my previous bags.

Received this bag as a gift from my wife over a year ago. It has held up very well and I like the business-like, rather than bicycle-messenger look to my briefcases. This looks the Wall St-part. The only drawbacks are the terribly designed front hooks. As articulated in other reviews, they are EXTREMELY difficult to open when the bag is loaded-- you can't unhook them at all unless the bag is laying flat. Very inconvenient and time consuming. When you pay this much for a bag, you shouldn't have to struggle in order to open it. But, the darn thing looks good and holds up well. The hooks may be a small inconvenience to be tolerated in order to have a great briefcase.
