Haven't used this backpack yet, but I think it's going to be great as I head off to college. Looks good, easily and safely holds my laptop and still has plenty of space for notebooks, etc. Only gave it 4 stars as I haven't used it yet.

The straps rub on my arm skin too much, which is uncomfortable. Otherwise, great backpack!

This backpack was really useful. I could carry so many books and textbooks in my bag and not feel the heavy weight. Though I wish there were features like, more pockets, more room, and better materials.

Overall this backpack has a lot of space. It is very useful for school for all of those heavy books.

The look is very appealing to the eye - tough, durable, sporty with a touch of urban fashion and style. This a good commuter backpack with many pockets to store your belongings (ie. Laptop, phone, water bottle, pens, folders, etc.). It fits everything one would need on a daily basis. However, I would not recommend this bag for overnight traveling as the bag is designed well for flat and square items.
The shoulder and chest straps have a great fit and wraps nicely on your torso along with the a comfortable padding against your back.
Overall this is a great day backpack for commuting, work and/or school.

This is my very first North Face backpack and I must say, I'm very impressed with it. I love the design of it and it's super sturdy. I'm the type of person that typically packs a lot (jacket, phone, chargers, laptop, books, ect.) and this backpack seems to be a bit small to me. I also tried to put my 15.4" HP laptop in it and it was a super tight fit. It didn't stick out or anything, it was just really tight in the sleeve that's in the backpack. Other than that, I love the material it's made out of and just the overall backpack in general. I can tell it is well worth the money invested in it. My only cons are the limited amount of space and the laptop sleeve space.

My pack color scheme is very nice and eye-catching (BLACK & YELLOW). The look and design is very modern and I feel good carrying it. The front shoulder strap design looks nice with diamond stitching in the material and diamond-shaped cutouts visible through transparent mesh, that also serves as air ventilation. Pads and additional air ventilation against my back help make this a comfortable pack to carry.
The inside offers moderate volume available for my stuff. My laptop, books and gym clothes usually occupy most of the space...with lots of pockets left over for my keys and other small items. The laptop sleeve and 3 additional pockets are lined on one side with a very soft fleece. I would have preferred the lining on both sides, but the pockets provide adequate protection. Additional pockets are the right size for my small items.
The amount of space is perfect for use as a day-pack to school or work. I don't believe the available space would allow me to make this bag my first choice as a primary overnight travel bag unless I am traveling light and compact
I especially like the zip pocket accessible from top outside of the bag. This pocket is fully fleece lined, feels like soft glove on the inside and is perfect for my phone.
A couple of omissions I would have liked to have seen on this bag, and seems like they could be, are a zip pocket accessible from the bottom front and a zipped mesh pocket in the inside. Even without these, there is still a lot of well organized space and this is one of my favorite bags I have owned.

I have bought this back to carry around my macbook pro 15 inch and around 4 full sized books. The weight of the books and the macbook pro isn't noticeable at all! The only down side is the really tight fit for the macbook pro the back is made for max a 15 inch lapotop (the macbook pro i 15.4 inch) because of that is the space for the mac a little small. But it fits without a lot of problem (/ or effort).
A great bag for a good price.

These backpacks are great quality. They are good for school, camping, traveling, basicly anything you can think of. One downside of the backpack is the space. There are only 3 pockets. The backpack doesn't bulge but it does not hold a lot. I like how there are pockets on the sides for easy access. They are perfect for phones. Also the colors are vibrant, they never fade.

I bought this backpack for my husband to wear while skiing and he seems to really like it. The straps could be a little longer, but otherwise it has the right amount of storage compartments to satisfy his needs, it's very light weight, and the selection of colors was great.

The bag was very well designed and exactly what I wanted. The only thing I would have to complain about would be the size. I was expecting it to be a little larger. Other then that, the purchase was a good decision.

The Borealis Backpack is great. I personally use it for school so my only complaint is that I wished the main compartment was bigger so that I could fit more books and binders in it. The Quality and durability of the backpack seems to be up to par, but, that'll be tested over this school year. :)

There is not enough room in the back of the backpack. The laptop storage takes up all the space. I think there should be an optional compartment for that. I hope one day my request can be granted..

As with any backpack, you just hope it meets the description. This was a thoughtfully designed and crafted backpack for a good price. Be aware, it really isn't a do everything bag, but is good if you just want to haul stuff around.

Quoting 29 L is a stretch unless my old backpack underestimated its volume. I can squeeze in a textbook or two and some notebooks along with my laptop, but only really enough when I use the front pocket for books as well as it takes up a lot of space.
I LOVE the laptop slot though; I feel like it really protects my laptop from all sides, especially the bottom, which a lot of backpacks lack support in.
In general, the backpack looks nice. I wish it was a tad wider both across and out, but the length is definitely good. I am pretty tall but I don't think it would be too long for an average height person.

I'll be starting college in New Hampshire this fall and need a reliable backpack that can hold my books and also withstand hiking and kayaking trips. This seems to be the one.
