BLUF: the quality of these shoes has declined (2014-2016) to the point where I will not be buying again.
A history of declining quality:
I bought the AllOut Fuse in early 2014, wore them a lot and put a lot of miles on them. By September of 2015, they had to be retired. I replaced them with the AllOut Blaze that made it about a year.
I purchased the AllOut Blaze Aero in April and thought that I had found the best version yet. It was light and allowed airflow. Dried incredibly quickly when it got wet. However, less than 2 months later, the tread was so worn down on the outside that there was nothing left but the sole. End result, totally unstable. Unacceptable decline in quality.
I would share a photo of this, and I am happy to send one to customer service if they would ask, but the "Upload Your Images" doesn't seem to want to take a photo upload.

These are the first Merrel shoes I have ever purchased and they will be the last. They promote a bare minimum of stability on hard flat surfaces which leads to knee and ankle pain during daily activities. There is no way I would wear these shoes hiking as they are intended. With only occasional daily wear over the past six months they are completely falling apart. Stitches are popping out everywhere, the mesh in the toe box is starting to get holes already, and even the lettering on the sides is falling off. I'm not sure how Merrell gets such a good reputation, these are the worst shoes I've ever owned.

I initially ordered size 9 and they were much larger than my regularly purchased size 9 Moab Ventilators. So I exchanged them for size 8.5 and they're now too loose in the heel, because the back of the shoe is so much lower. I just wish these vegan models matched the design of the very successful Moab Ventilator!

I have ten-plus pairs of Merrells and love them. I credit Merrell with saving me from foot pain that had become unbearable. For some reason, though I have pain every time I try to wear these shoes. Maybe it's the lack of an insole. (They do look great and the mesh works well in hot weather)
I will will always buy and recommend Merrells. Guess I just struck out with these.
