I have been wearing NB 587's for over 15 years. NB 587's fit the moment I put them on, but now NB has discontinued the 587's. A perfect shoe lost for no good reason. This replacement is pretty, colors are nice -BUT- the fit is gone. Bring back 587's. I will continue to troll the internet looking for NB587's 8D Women's hoping the NB powers that be will realize their mistake & bring back NB587's for Women. I cannot in good conscience recommend NB's idea of a replacement shoe.

These shoes are not deep enough to fit a custom orthotic and thus provide ankle support since the custom orthotic brings the foot up much higher in the shoe.

I like the look but they are tight and the shoe strings are to short. I need longer shoe strings because I have to use the back holes so there is not enough to tie a good bow.

Shoe configuration has changed. Shoe is shallower in the toe box and instep, so it will not accommodate my high arched feet and orthotics. I'm very disappointed, as the 1540 version 1 was perfect for me.

When you have this shoe on, you feel you have your feet on the ground. These shoes do not provide any support.

This shoe does not have the depth that other New Balance styles have. So if you have an orthotic you may not be able to fit them in unless you try them in a wide width. The cushioning is good, but the slight turn up at the back of the heel did not feel right to me when I walked, causing some pain in my hips and back. I am used to a 12mm differential and these are 10mm, so that might explain my pain.

I love New Balance and I loved the 1122 that this shoe replaces. Unfortunately, the build quality on this is lousy. I wore a hole in the side of this shoe in less than two weeks. New Balance is losing a customer as soon as I can afford a new pair of shoes.

I've been wearing original NB 1540s for a few years, and they have never let me down. I was hesitant when I saw they had been redesigned and were now marketed as NB 1540v2. The look of the shoe has been streamlined and does look less bulky and boxy, however, I found that it ran too small for my foot. The foot bed was not deep enough to get my orthotic, Spenco insole, and foot in comfortably. My heel also slipped in/out or up/down as I walked -- as in the back of my foot was not secure in the shoe. I also have very high arches and a very ridged foot and I found that the laces over the top of my foot cut off the circulation and made the shoe very uncomfortable on my foot. I'm very disappointed that New Balance changed the shoe with this redesign -- it's left me scrambling to find a new shoe that will work with my feet issues. I am going to go into a New Balance store and be re-measured and see if a half-size up will work for me. But still -- why did they change a good thing?

I have worn the 1540 1 since they first came out. I suffer from PTTD and these are the only shoes that I can wear to support my foot, with an orthotic. I loved them. Unfortunately, I do not feel that the new version is of the same quality as the original. My PTT is not supported nearly as well in these shoes, thus my foot is painful again. I find that the front area under the toes is much thinner and doesn't provide the comfort and support as before. Clearly, this is worse design, using fewer quality materials. With all the shortcuts that were taken is making this shoe, you'd think they would have dropped the price a bit.

I was led to believe from the description of these w1540v2 they were for overpronators. When I put them on my left arch immediately pained and then I noticed the build up in the shoes was on the outside not the inside. I couldn't walk in them. I buy Mizuno sneakers for overpronation so I know how they should feel. Too bad as I liked the looks of these.

This shoe was advertised as having extra depth however it immediately rubbed on the top of my arch causing red marks. Had to return.

I am actually incredibly disappointed. Please see the attached photo to see they sneakers have already worn down as if I had them for months. This is unacceptable after only a few runs and especially for the substantially high price.

I wore these for three days of walks. The first two days I noticed redness on the top of my foot On the third day,the pressure on the top of my right foot was too tight and causing pain. So I ordered another pair in extra wide, but that didn't help so I returned the second pair. The problem for me was only on the right foot, the left shoe was comfortable.

I always get 7.5 newbalance pronation control sneakers. This 7.5 runs much smaller. And it's very painful around my ankles. I do wear a fairly deep orthotic but I've worn that orthotic in other new balance sneakers without ankle pain. I like that it's lighter in weight than my previous pronation control new balance sneakers, and the colors are nice looking. But the tightness around my ankles is horrible.

I have worn New Balance shoes for years. I have RA and severe feet problems. My orthopedic doctor ordered inserts made for my feet that fit best in New Balance shoes. I have worn the 1340 running shoe and they worked great. I bought these shoes thinking I was getting the same shoe. Unfortunately these were not. They are heavy like wearing bricks. Truly horrible. My feet hurt rat so bad after wearing I was practically crying. I couldn't return to store because I'd worn them. Thinking it was just me, I gave to my sister in law. She said her feet hurt so bad after wearing she was crawling home. I don't know who designed these but they should come with a warning that they are hard as bricks with no give at all and very heavy. I wasted over one hundred dollars on these. Ended up finding the 1340 v2 which are awesome shoes.

In addition to falling apart - these shoes squeak with every single step!

I ordered these shoes for my mom who has worn NB motion control for years. They were nothing like previous shoes. After wearing them for a few hours to go shopping one day, she could barely walk the next day because her feet hurt so much. She has Plantar Fasciitis.

No where near the support and motion control that the original 1540 had. Very disappointed. PLEASE bring back the 1540 version 1 !!!! Thank you.

This show is represented to be a motion control shoe but actually forces my foot to turn inward on every step. Even tried different inserts - it does not help. I am returning this shoe as I know it will cause foot, knee and hip issues with the over movement of my foot as I step.

This shoe is very uncomfortable. My feet are very tired after wearing them for a few hours. I was sized at a 10 regular. I ended up having to wear an 11 wide. The upper part of the show is tight on my feet and not very good arch support. Not happy with the purchase!

I have come to expect a definite high quality from New Balance. These shoes are awful. I saw these shoes a year ago, and because of their price had to wait until I could afford an almost $200 purchase. So I waited, I saved. Finally, right before starting a new job I order these shoes and oh my goodness they are the the second MOST UNCOMFORTABLE shoes I have ever owned. The first being a horrid pair from payless. These are like that. They remind me of payless shoes. I don't understand how these are New Balance shoes. They are cheap feeling and thin soled. They have a smooth sole feeling, and I slipped around on a floor due to the complete lack of traction. They look like they have traction, but they don't feel that way at all. I feel like I have to be careful not to slip and fall in these shoes. It also feels like it's a completely flat shoe inside with absolutely no support whatsoever. My feet ached relatively quickly after wearing them for a few minutes. Also, some person designed these with hard plastic corners in the top where I tie them, and I know this because I kept thinking I had maybe tied them too hard because my foot hurt so badly where I tied them. I couldn't stop fixing them and re tying them my whole outing, only to finally figure out that the problem isn't in how I tied them, but rather in the fact that there are hard plastic pieces that dig into your feet with each step. Seriously disappointed. And now I start my jew job in 2 days, and have no new shoes to wear. But seriously, I would rather wear my old shoes with the holes in the top that you can see my sock through than wear these awfully made ones. Torture devices. Stay away.

Just really clunky and unattractive. The sole is really thick and not very flexible. I returned them.

I've had several 1540 before, but never with a insert so cheap and thin i feel like nothing is between me and the floor. I thought for sure it was somehow swipped out with another but NB says that's it and the technology in the shoe doesn't need it. I have other styles of their rollbar shoes and their inserts are softer and more supportive. What a bad way to cheap out an expensive shoe.
